Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is frequently associated with atrial fibrillation (AF). We compared clinical, echocardiographic, and electrophysiological parameters between HCM subtypes and those without HCM at AF catheter ablation (AFCA) and analyzed post-AFCA reverse remodeling and AF recurrence based on HCM presence and subtype.

Methods: Among 5161 consecutive patients who underwent de novo AFCA, we included HCM patients and control patients who were age-, gender-, and AF type-matched.

Validation of prediction model for successful discontinuation of continuous renal replacement therapy: a multicenter cohort study.

Background: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) has become the standard modality of renal replacement therapy (RRT) in critically ill patients. However, consensus is lacking regarding the criteria for discontinuing CRRT. Here we validated the usefulness of the prediction model for successful discontinuation of CRRT in a multicenter retrospective cohort.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This prespecified secondary analysis of a subgroup of patients in RENOVATE-COMPLEX-PCI (Randomized Controlled Trial of Intravascular Imaging Guidance Versus Angiography-Guidance on Clinical Outcomes After Complex Percutaneous Coronary Intervention), an investigator-initiated, open-label multicenter trial, analyzed enrolled patients who underwent complex PCI at 20 sites in Korea from May 2018 through May 2021.

Effect of Limb Dominance on Chronic Ankle Instability: Does It Matter?

Our study aimed to examine preoperative differences in strength and balance between dominant foot (DF) and nondominant foot (non-DF) of individuals undergoing ligament stabilization surgery in the general population. Patients with records of preoperative evaluation, including isokinetic dynamometric strength evaluation, Y-balance test (YBT), and Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS), were included in the study. The DF was the preferred leg for accurately kicking a ball through a goal.

Iodine is a micronutrient that is required for thyroid hormone synthesis. The iodide cycle in thyroid hormone synthesis consists of a series of transport, oxidation, organification, and binding/coupling steps in thyroid follicular cells. Common sources of iodine include the consumption of an iodine-rich diet or iodine-fortified foods, the administration of amiodarone, iodine-containing supplements, or iodinated contrast media, and other miscellaneous sources.

Subscapularis Repair in Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty: Differences in Outcomes Based on Preoperative Quality of Subscapularis Tendon.

Purpose: This study examines the influence of preoperative fatty infiltration (FI) of the subscapularis tendon (SBS) on outcomes following reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) with SBS repair.

Methods: A cohort of 161 rTSA patients with SBS repair, followed for a mean of 45.3 months, was divided into three groups based on FI: Group A (intact upper and lower portions,  = 85), Group B (intact lower portions,  = 44), and Group C (fatty infiltrated in both portions,  = 32).

Methods: Patients with complex coronary artery lesions were randomly assigned to undergo either intravascular imaging-guided PCI or angiography-guided PCI in a 2:1 ratio.

The bioartificial liver (BAL) system can potentially rescue acute liver failure (ALF) patients by providing partial liver function until a suitable donor liver can be found or the native liver has self-regenerated. In this study, we established a suitable cryopreservation process for the development of an off-the-shelf BAL system. The viability of hepatocyte spheroids cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen was comparable to that of fresh primary hepatocyte spheroids.

Purpose: In this study, ultrasonography was used to measure medial meniscus (MM) extrusion under weight-bearing and nonweight-bearing conditions in both anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)-deficient and ACL-intact knee groups. Ticagrelor monotherapy for acute coronary syndrome: an individual patient data meta-analysis of TICO and T-PASS trials.

Background And Aims: In patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) with aspirin and a potent P2Y12 inhibitor is recommended for 12 months after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. Monotherapy with a potent P2Y12 inhibitor after short-term DAPT is an attractive option to better balance the risks of ischaemia and bleeding. Therefore, this study evaluated the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor monotherapy after short-term DAPT, especially in patients with ACS.
