Headaches are a common neurological disorder, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. Traditional treatments include pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches. Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) is a holistic, hands-on technique used by osteopathic physicians to alleviate pain and improve function by addressing musculoskeletal dysfunctions.

Background: Physiotherapists encounter challenges in diagnosing myofascial trigger points (MTrPs), which are crucial for managing myofascial pain but difficult due to their complex referred pain patterns. We aimed to assess if an interactive software (MyofAPPcial) can enhance the ability of physical therapists specialized in musculoskeletal disorders (as clinicians and as researchers and educators) to identify referred pain patterns associated with specific MTrPs and to explore their opinion about incorporating this technology regularly into their professional setting.
Methods: After developing the app, a descriptive cross-sectional survey study was conducted.

Poor posture can lead to excessive strain of the neck and upper back musculature, leading to irritation of the dorsal scapular nerve (DSN) and spinal accessory nerve (SAN). A 5-in-1 trigger point technique has been described that specifically target trapezius, rhomboids, levator scapulae, SAN and DSN in a single percutaneous injection. We modified the technique to include hydrodissecting the DSN and SAN to provide further pain relief from possible nerve entrapments.

Introduction: Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain condition prevalent in the general population. Muscular symptoms at the level of the trapezius and rhomboid muscles are frequent and the response to therapeutic interventions established so far is variable.
Methods: We present a case series of six patients who underwent a new technique of interfacial trapezius-rhomboid block (TRB) performed under ultrasonographic guidance by applying 10 cubic centimeters (cc) of analgesic solution (bupivacaine 0.

Aim: Auriculotemporal neuralgia (AN) is a rare condition characterized by severe, stabbing, unilateral pain inadequately described in the literature. Often coexisting with other conditions sharing the same innervation, and this overlap complicates clinical interpretation, leading to diagnostic errors and inappropriate therapeutic choices. The absence of AN in headache and facial pain diagnostic criteria hampers access to crucial information for diagnostic reasoning.

Background: Nowadays, stabilization splints for the management of bruxism and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) can be produced utilizing a digital workflow comprising a digital impression of the teeth, digital splint design, and computer-aided manufacturing of the splints. The latter is usually a milling process, however, more recently 3D printing gained popularity due to its better cost and time efficiency. It remains unknown whether 3D printed stabilization splints are inferior to milled splints regarding clinical outcomes.

Chronic post-surgical pain (CPSP) after temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery is an under-recognized problem. The aim of this study was to document the characteristics of CPSP and identify patient risk factors and comorbidities associated with the development of CPSP after total TMJ replacement (TJR). This was a retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent TJR between 2000 and 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA.

Background: Tension-type headache (TTH) and migraine are prevalent neurological conditions in children and adolescents that significantly impact activity of daily living (ADL) and quality of life (QOL). Although physical therapy targeting cervical myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) on TTH and migraine has been extensively studied in adults, the efficacy in pediatric patients remains unexplored. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of physical therapy integrated with pharmacotherapy on TTH and migraine in children and adolescents.

Advanced post-traumatic ankle osteoarthritis (PTAO) is a severe condition that affects less than one percent of the population, with rare incidence. It accounts for less than 5% of all osteoarthritis (OA) cases. Physiotherapy enhances functionality by strengthening the dynamic stabilizers of the ankle, such as the calf, soleus, tibialis anterior, and peroneal muscles, and by improving proprioception, which aids in balance and coordination.

Background: Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic condition caused by sensitive pressure regions within the muscles known as myofascial trigger points (MTrPs).
Objective: The purpose of this randomized controlled trial (RCT) was to assess the effectiveness of adding dry needling (DN) to activate MTrPs in the upper trapezius muscle compared with usual physiotherapy among individuals with chronic neck pain.
Methods: Thirty participants were recruited from a private clinic in Saudi Arabia.

Myofascial pelvic pain (MFPP) is a prevalent yet frequently overlooked condition characterized by myofascial trigger points located within the pelvic floor muscles. Women with MFPP often experience severely reduced quality of life due to impaired sexual health. Here, we examined the relationship between MFPP and sexual function.

Hemiplegic migraine is a rare form of migraine characterized by aura with unilateral paralysis; however, studies on its treatment are limited. A 39-year-old man with migraine headaches and myofascial pain syndrome was referred to our hospital with transient right hemiplegia, after presenting to an outside emergency department with headache and right hemiplegia 2 days prior. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and blood test results revealed no abnormalities.

Background: The Achilles tendon is one of the thickest, largest, and strongest tendons in the human body. Biomechanically, the AT represents the conjoint tendon of the triceps surae muscle, placed in series with the plantar fascia (PF) to ensure force transmission from the triceps surae toward the toes during walking, running, and jumping. Commonly encountered in the diagnostic evaluation of heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy (AT) refers to a combination of pathological changes affecting the tendon itself often resulting from excessive repetitive stress and overuse.

Study Objectives: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) were linked to poor sleep on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), whereas polysomnography (PSG) revealed no major sleep disturbances, implying sleep state misperception (SSM). This study investigates SSM in TMD and control participants; correlates SSM with objective short sleep duration (SSD), depression symptoms, daytime sleepiness, and orofacial pain; and compares objective SSD between the groups.
Methods: General linear models were used to compare second-night PSG total sleep time (TST), sleep latency (SL), sleep efficiency (SE) and wake after sleep onset (WASO) with homologous PSQI-derived variables in 124 women with myofascial TMD and 46 age and BMI matched controls.
