[Nonplatelet Effects of Ticagrelor].

This review summarizes current knowledge concerning "nonplatelet effects of P2Y12 receptor antagonist ticagrelor. We show the experimental and clinical evidence that ticagrelor increases plasma concentration of adenosine as a potential mechanism of additive effects of ticagrelor. In addition, we sought to compare the clinical profile of ticagrelor with pharmacological effects of adenosine and discuss from this point of view the effects of ticagrelor on vascular tone, cardiac electrophysiology, ischemia/reperfusion injury, immunity and inflammatory reactions, peripheral nerves.

[Cardiovascular Complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Prevalence and Pathogenesis].

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with high risk of cardiovascular events. Among main causes of death in RA are: myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, sudden cardiac death, which are determined by the early development and rapid progression of atherosclerotic vascular lesions. According to studies high risk of cardiovascular events is not explained by only classical risk factors.

[Degenerative Aortic Stenosis: Modern View on Development, Course, and Management].

Degenerative aortic stenosis is an acquired heart defect manifesting as progressive thickening and calcification of leaflets of originally normal tricuspid or congenital bicuspid aortic valve with development of orifice narrowing, left ventricular hypertrophy, and high risk of cardiovascular complications. In this review we present modern concepts of formation and progression of degenerative aortic stenosis and discuss optimal methods of management of this disease.

[Vasorenal Hypertension and Primarily Contracted Kidney in a Man Aged 44 years: Is Invasive Intervention Needed?].

Presentation of a clinical case of vasorenal hypertension in a patient with chronic renal artery occlusion and primarily contracted kidney is accompanied by discussion of current recommendations concerning indications to invasive intervention in patients with vasorenal arterial hypertension.
