Although efforts to conserve and sustainably utilize wild rice germplasm are underway globally, they are fragmented and require international cooperation to advance climate-resilient rice breeding and ensure future food securiety.

Impact of civil war on the land cover in Myanmar.

Exploring the response relationship between civil war, population and land cover change is of great practical significance for social stability in Myanmar. However, the ongoing civil war in Myanmar hinders direct understanding of the situation on the ground, which in turn limits detailed study of the intricate relationship between the dynamics of the civil war and its impact on population and land. Therefore, this paper explores the response relationship between civil war conflict and population and land cover change in Myanmar from 2010 to 2020 from the perspective of remote sensing using the land cover data we produced, the open spatial demographics data, and the armed conflict location and event data project.

Generation of a USP9Y knockout human embryonic stem cell line with CRISPR-Cas9 technology.

Human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines are vital tools for studying gene function, disease modeling, and therapy. We generated a USP9Y knockout hESC line using CRISPR-Cas9 in the male-derived H1 line. Targeted deletion of the USP9Y gene was confirmed via PCR and sequencing.

Association between blood hemoglobin levels, anemia, and body mass index in children and women of Myanmar: findings from a nationally representative health study.

Despite the high prevalence of anemia and malnutrition in Myanmar, the relationship between anemia and body mass index (BMI) remains underexplored. We analyzed nationally representative data from the Myanmar Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS) 2015-2016 to explore the effects of BMI on hemoglobin levels and anemia among children (n = 2,937) and women (n = 9,262). Anemia was defined as hemoglobin levels < 11 g/dl for children and pregnant women, and < 12 g/dl for nonpregnant women, with BMI categories classified according to WHO guidelines.

Bhasan Char has undergone noteworthy transformations in its geographical characteristics since its emergence in 2003. To analyze the epidemic characteristics and trends of newly reported HIV-infected people among Chinese and Burmese in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture (Dehong Prefecture) of Yunnan Province, China, from 2000 to 2023, and provide evidence for formµlating AIDS prevention and control measures for the Burmese living in Dehong. The data were obtained from the Chinese Disease Control and Prevention Information System. The distribution of HIV-infected people with different population characteristics was analyzed, and the Joinpoint regression model was used to analyze the temporal trend of crude detection rate in different genders, ethnicities, and ages.

Unveiling surfactant protein-A dynamics in human fetal lung development: histological and immunohistochemical insights from Myanmar.

Background: Surfactant protein-A (SP-A) is the most prevalent protein in the pulmonary surfactant system and it is expressed in Type II alveolar epithelial cells.

Materials And Methods: We evaluated SP-A expression in 92 fetal human lungs at various gestational ages in Myanmar (Burma) using hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical assays.

Results: We detected tubular structures in the fetal lungs during the canalicular stage of development at gestational weeks 22-25.

Violence against women is a pervasive public health problem, violates women's rights, and may adversely affect women's quality of life (QoL) and mental health. However, few studies have focused on this problem among migrant women workers from Myanmar.

Drought is the one primary issue limiting peanut growth and productivity. The study aimed to investigate the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), rhizobium (Rhi), and their combinations on phenolic content, proline content, growth, and yield of peanut under different soil water regimes. The pot experiments were carried out for two growing seasons under greenhouse conditions and designed based on a 2×3 factorial in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications.

The Frequency and Incidence of QT Prolongation with Extended Use of Bedaquiline or Delamanid in a Large, Multi-Country MDR/RR-TB Cohort.

Background: The 2022 WHO guidelines on multi-drug/rifampicin resistant tuberculosis (MDR/RR-TB) recommend six months of bedaquiline (Bdq) in the all-oral 9-month shorter regimen and six months or longer for Bdq and delamanid (Dlm) in the 18-20-month longer regimen. However, lack of evidence on extended treatment using Bdq or Dlm has limited their use to six months. We examine the frequency and incidence of QT prolongation based on duration of Bdq and/or Dlm use in longer regimens.
