Children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder are at high risk of being bullied, but research on teaching children with autism self-protection skills for bullying situations is scant. We taught five children self-protection skills for two types of bullying (threats and unkind remarks) and consecutive bullying occurrences. We first evaluated behavioral skills training and a textual prompt to teach children to report threats of physical or material harm, provide a disapproving statement after a first unkind remark, and occupy themselves with an activity away from a bully after a second unkind remark.

In people with schizophrenia, anxiety is highly prevalent and related to numerous negative outcomes; unfortunately, anxiety is both underreported and understudied in schizophrenia. The current review highlights the importance and utility of assessing anxiety in schizophrenia by addressing four main questions: (1) What does anxiety look like throughout the development of schizophrenia?; (2) How do we measure anxiety in schizophrenia?; (3) What are the mechanisms underlying anxiety in schizophrenia; (4) How do we treat anxiety in schizophrenia? We also provide take-home points and propose future directions for the field. We hope this emphasis on the critical role of anxiety in schizophrenia will help researchers appropriately identify the presence of anxiety, better address these symptoms, and improve the lives of people at risk for or experiencing psychosis.

Our understanding of the neurobiology underlying cognitive dysfunction in persons with cerebral palsy is very limited, especially in the neurocognitive domain of visual selective attention. This investigation utilized magnetoencephalography and an Eriksen arrow-based flanker task to quantify the dynamics underlying selective attention in a cohort of youth and adults with cerebral palsy (n = 31; age range = 9 to 47 yr) and neurotypical controls (n = 38; age range = 11 to 49 yr).
