In terms of infection control, environmental cleaning is critical in nursing homes, including long term care facilities. According to the statement of the Commission of Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention (KRINKO) at the Robert Koch Institute Berlin on the requirements for disinfectants in these areas, procedures should be used that have been certified by the Association for Applied Hygiene (VAH) for the necessary spectrum of efficacy (or are listed accordingly in the disinfectant list of the Robert Koch Institute). Since ozone is a powerfully oxidizing gas with high inhalation toxicity, the conditions of ap-plication and the measures for occupational safety - including ensuring that the limit value in indoor air is not exceeded when handling and using the product -, must be declared by the manufacturer and observed by the staff to exclude toxic long-term hazard.

Hepatorenal tyrosinaemia (HT1) is an autosomal recessive disorder of tyrosine degradation resulting in hepatic and renal dysfunction, neurological sequelae may occur in some patients. The use of nitisinone (NTBC) has revolutionised treatment and outcome of this disorder. NTBC has to be combined with a low protein diet.

Objective: To describe agreement in detection of joint swelling as the mandatory key of the diagnostic algorithm used in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This was done by comparing clinical examinations, ultrasonography (US), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and patient self-evaluation of the joints in the wrist and fingers (metacarpophalangeal joints (MCP) and proximal interphalangeal joints (PIP)) in an early untreated RA cohort.
Methods: 14 patients (8 women and 6 men, mean age ± standard deviation: 54.

Background: Inherited epidermolysis bullosa (EB) comprises a group of genetic disorders characterized by skin fragility and unique oral features. It requires interdisciplinary care from several health professionals, including oral health teams. Modern dentistry encompasses a wide range of therapeutic options performed by specialists from different fields.

The lateral thalamus (LT) receives input from primary sensory nuclei and responds to multimodal stimuli. The LT is also involved in regulating innate and social behaviors through its projections to cortical and limbic networks. However, the importance of multisensory processing within the LT in modulating behavioral output has not been explicitly addressed.

Introduction: Global migration has increased in recent decades due to war, conflict, persecutions, and natural disasters, but also secondary to increased opportunities related to work or study. Migrants' risk of tuberculosis (TB) differs by reasons for migration, socioeconomic status, mode of travel and TB risk in transit, TB incidence and healthcare provision in country of origin. Despite advances in TB care for migrants and new treatment strategies, decisions for the management of migrants at risk of TB often rely on expert opinions, rather than clinical evidence.

Critically ill neonates who survive are often left with dire consequences. Cerebral palsy, other neurological and motor deficiencies, intellectual disability, and various degrees of cognitive and behavioral deficiencies all result from neonatal critical diseases. We investigated psychomotor development in 20 children with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), and as newborns often have multiple comorbidities, the following as well: HIE with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), infections, hypo and hyperglycemia and hypocalcemia.

Purpose: To investigate the rare side effects of Osimertinib in a case of toxic epidermal necrosis.
Case Presentation: We report on a case of a 44-year old woman with lung adenocarcinoma harboring an EGFR-sensitizing mutation who was treated with Osimertinib as the second-line treatment. Ten days after Osimertinib initiation, a diffuse erythematous rash rapidly spread over the patient's trunk along with vesicles and purpuric macules; furthermore, she developed erythema and exfoliation on the face and trunk and severe mucositis.

Introduction: Kidney replacement therapy (KRT) by dialysis or kidney transplantation represents the main treatment modalities for patients with kidney failure. Here we evaluate the trends in taking care of such patients in North Macedonia from 2015 through 2020.
Methods: The patients were analyzed according to age, sex, primary disease, and treatment modality.

Introduction: We conducted an evaluation of capsular bag performance of the Clareon CNA0T0 intraocular lens (IOL), focusing on postoperative anterior chamber depth (ACD), IOL tilt, and IOL decentration.
Methods: Inclusion criteria were bilateral age-related cataract and the ability to provide informed consent. Exclusion criteria were prior surgeries, combined surgeries, and conditions posing a risk for postoperative capsular bag instability.

: Amblyopia is a common disease, and interventions like patching treatment are well studied. When standard therapy fails, sometimes uncommon treatment options become necessary. : We present three cases of patients with severe strabismic amblyopia with initial visual acuities of 20/400, 20/2000 and 20/160 who failed conventional treatment and subsequently received treatment with high-powered contact lenses (HPCL) of either + 22D or + 25D strength.

Background: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma remains a challenging malignancy with a poor prognosis. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has emerged as a potential treatment for unresectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma (UPAC) aimed at improving survival and quality of life. This meta-analysis and systematic review evaluates the outcomes of RFA in UPAC.

Background: Quantification of Amyloid beta (Aβ) oligomers in plasma enables early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and improves our understanding of underlying pathologies. However, quantification necessitates an extremely sensitive and selective technology because of very low Aβ oligomer concentrations and possible interference from matrix components.
Methods: In this report, we developed and validated a surface-based fluorescence distribution analysis (sFIDA) assay for quantification of Aβ oligomers in plasma.

Background: Secondary malignancies are potential complications after high-dose therapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). Information on the detailed course of such events is scarce, yet may be essential to minimize the impact of these sequelae.
Patients And Methods: We regularly monitored 877 patients for up to 31 years after ASCT in our outpatient department.

Introduction: Sepsis and systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) are significant concerns in intensive care units and contribute significantly to patient mortality. Traditional diagnostic markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) often lack the sensitivity and specificity needed for early diagnosis and prognosis. Consequently, more reliable biomarkers are needed.

Purpose: Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) procedures from single photon emission computed tomography and positron emission tomography imaging have been registered in the Western Denmark Heart Registry (WDHR) since 2017 as a sub-registry (WDHR-MPI). The aim was to review the content, quality, and research potential of the WDHR-MPI and assess the completeness and validity of its key variables.
Patients And Methods: Using the Danish National Patient Registry (DNPR) as a reference, we calculated the completeness of procedure registration as the proportion of procedures registered in the WDHR-MPI from 2017 to 2021.
Background: Liberal or overtransfusion (OT) may be regarded as "inappropriate," but it is not reported as a transfusion-related adverse event. A definition of OT is lacking. OT may include overdosing of components, giving the incorrect component, or unnecessary administration without evidence of need for transfusion.

Background: Notwithstanding the documented short- and long-term weight loss and remission of physical and mental diseases following bariatric surgery, a significant proportion of patients fail to respond (fully) to treatment in terms of physical and mental health improvement. Mounting evidence links food-specific impulsivity, prefrontal cortex (PFC) hypoactivity and disrupted hormone secretion in bariatric surgery candidates to poorer post-surgical health outcomes. Neuromodulatory treatments like transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) uniquely target these neurobehavioral impairments.
