Desmoplastic small round cell tumors (DSRCTs) of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract are a rare and highly aggressive variant of soft tissue sarcomas, predominantly affecting the abdominal region. These tumors are believed to originate from multipotent mesenchymal stem cells or primitive progenitor cells. They are composed of small round tumor cells associated with prominent stromal desmoplasia, polyphenotypic differentiation, and gene fusion.

Introduction: Skin cancer impacts a significant proportion of the population. While surgical management is often the mainstay of treatment, advanced or metastatic cutaneous malignancies require additional local and/or systemic therapies.
Methods: A review of the literature was performed studying the use of radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy for locally advanced or metastatic cutaneous malignancies.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age and is characterized by hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, and reproductive dysfunctions. Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are primarily used in diabetes management to enhance insulin release by stimulating GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas. The search strategy included randomized trials on the management of PCOS symptoms with GLP-1 RAs alone or in combination with other medications; meta-analyses, literature reviews, or case reports were excluded.

The differential diagnosis of neurocognitive and psychiatric disorders, particularly when symptoms overlap significantly, poses a substantial challenge in clinical practice. Parkinson's disease (PD), Lewy body dementia, and catatonia are distinct conditions that can present with similar motor and cognitive symptoms, complicating accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. We report the case of a 45-year-old male patient who presented for electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) evaluation.

Attrition is a significant methodological concern in longitudinal studies. Sample loss can limit generalizability and compromise internal validity. Wave one ( = 346) and wave two follow-ups ( = 196) of the 1Florida ADRC clinical core were examined using a 24-month visit window.

Inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery aneurysm (IPDA) with the stenosis of the celiac axis is rare and may cause rupture. A unique etiology of IPDAs with celiac stenosis is median arcuate ligament syndrome. These aneurysms develop as a result of the dilation of the arteries from the retrograde blood flow into the pancreaticoduodenal arches because of celiac artery compression by the median arcuate ligament.

Background: Increasingly, patient satisfaction scores are being used to assess emergency physicians. We sought to determine whether the patient satisfaction scores collected by our hospital system are lower for patients who are treated in the emergency department (ED) on night shifts as compared to those treated on day shifts.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional analysis of patient satisfaction scores from three EDs in Florida.

Introduction: Standard emergency medicine practice includes tetanus vaccine administration as part of wound care management for patients who are not fully immunized. Since there have been no available studies in the United States reaffirming the prevalence of since 1926, we sought to identify its prevalence in a major urban county in the US.
Methods: We sampled soil, rusted metal, concrete, and dog feces to determine the prevalence of in a single metropolitan county in the United States.

Introduction: Cannabinoid-related emergency department (ED) visits are increasing, yet little has been published about how the route of cannabinoid use (inhaled versus oral) affects ED presentations. We sought to compare ED visits from inhaled versus oral cannabinoid use.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study using ED patients with a cannabinoid related diagnosis from January 1, 2020 and May 31, 2023 from a single hospital system in Florida.
Background: Sedentary behavior elevates cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in patients with dyslipidemia. Increasing physical activity (PA) is recommended alongside pharmacological therapy to prevent CVD, though benefits across environmental conditions are unclear.
Methods And Results: We analyzed data from 113 918 newly diagnosed patients with dyslipidemia (2009-2012) without prior CVD, sourced from the Korea National Health Insurance Service.

The mediating role of anxious, depressive, and somatic symptoms was examined in the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and adolescent substance use, with attention to the unique effects of each set of symptoms within the same model. Adolescents (n = 701) were assessed over time (ages 3-17) in a majority male (70.5%) and white (89.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a genetic disorder triggered by depolarizing muscle relaxants or halogenated inhalational anesthetics in genetically predisposed individuals who have a chronic elevated intracellular Ca concentration ([Ca]) in their muscle cells. We have reported that the muscle dysregulation of [Ca] impairs glucose uptake, leading to the development of insulin resistance in two rodent experimental models. In this study, we simultaneously measured the [Ca] and glucose uptake in single enzymatically isolated hippocampal pyramidal neurons from wild-type (WT) and MH-R163C mice.

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an uncommon condition resulting from the autoimmune destruction of platelets. A man in his mid-30s, who had received three doses of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine a year prior, was diagnosed with ITP 3 weeks after contracting COVID-19. Mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 induced thrombocytopenia may include bone marrow depletion, coagulation consumption, mutations resulting in cytokine release or molecular mimicry leading to autoimmunity.

Introduction: Primary bladder neck obstruction (BNO) occurs when the bladder neck fails to open during voiding, causing urinary symptoms despite no anatomic obstruction. The cause of BNO is unclear but may involve neurogenic dysregulation related to the sympathic nervous system such as upper motor neuron lesion or peripheral autonomic neuropathy (small fiber neuropathy (SFN)). Another etiology can incuded increased sympathetic tone secondary to anxiety or stress conditons.

Purpose: To evaluate long-term outcomes of primary chemoablation using a mitomycin reverse thermal gel (UGN-101) in patients with low-grade upper tract urothelial carcinoma.
Materials And Methods: Patients who participated in the OLYMPUS trial (TC-UT-03, NCT02793128) and achieved a complete response (CR) after 6-weekly doses of UGN-101 were followed up to 12 months after initial CR. Those with CR at study completion were eligible for long-term follow-up for up to 5 years or until disease recurrence, progression, or death.
