Pain is common in older adults and managing pain in this population can be challenging owing to altered pharmacokinetics, multimorbidity, polypharmacy, cognitive impairment, and physical frailty. A fixed-dose combination (FDC) analgesic contains two or more pharmaceutical ingredients in a single pill and may offer more benefits when compared with loose-dose formulations. The benefits include reduced pill burden and better adherence, a broader analgesic spectrum well-suited to multimechanistic pain conditions and more predictable pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties.

Adhesions arising from gynecologic surgeries and cesarean sections pose substantial clinical, social, and economic challenges, leading to issues like pelvic pain, infertility, bowel obstruction, and recurring surgeries. Preventing adhesions is a pressing unmet need, hindered by difficulties in assessing postoperative adhesions and understanding barriers. To bridge adhesion prevention gaps, statements on clinical practices were synthesized to present Asia-Pacific expert perspectives on gynecologic surgery and cesarean section adhesion prevention.

In Singapore, population aging and rising life expectancy are increasing herpes zoster (HZ) burden, which may be reduced by vaccination. The present study modeled the public health impact of HZ vaccination in Singapore using ZOster ecoNomic Analysis (ZONA) model adapted with Singapore-specific key model inputs, where available. Base case analysis was conducted in adults ≥ 50 years of age (YOA), exploring three vaccination strategies (no vaccination, recombinant zoster vaccine [RZV], zoster vaccine live [ZVL]) under mass vaccination setting (30% coverage).

Introduction: Patients with cancer are known to have an increased risk of ischemic stroke (IS) around the time of their diagnosis. However, there is a paucity of data in Asian populations, and as such, we aimed to determine cancer incidence rates and patterns in Asian IS patients as well as investigate the differences in vascular risk profile of IS patients with and without concomitant cancer.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study using data from the Singapore Stroke and Cancer registries.
Aims: Focal therapy treats individual areas of tumour in non-metastatic prostate cancer in patients unsuitable for active surveillance. The aim of this work was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of focal therapy versus prostatectomy and external beam radiotherapy (EBRT).
Materials And Methods: A Markov cohort health state transition model with four health states (stable disease, local recurrence, metastatic disease and death) was created, evaluating costs and utilities over a 10-year time horizon for patients diagnosed with non-metastatic prostate cancer.

Purpose: In older patients who do not wish to undergo watchful waiting, focal therapy could be an alternative to the more morbid radical treatment. We evaluated the role of focal therapy in patients 70 years and older as an alternative management modality.
Materials And Methods: A total of 649 patients across 11 UK sites receiving focal high-intensity focused ultrasound or cryotherapy between June 2006 and July 2020 reported within the UK-based HEAT (HIFU Evaluation and Assessment of Treatment) and ICE (International Cryotherapy Evaluation) registries were evaluated.

Background: Conventionally, vancomycin trough levels have been used for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM). Owing to the increasing evidence of trough levels being poor surrogates of area under the curve (AUC) and the advent of advanced pharmacokinetics software, a paradigm shift has been made toward AUC-guided dosing. This study aims to evaluate the impact of AUC-guided versus trough-guided TDM on vancomycin-associated nephrotoxicity.

Introduction: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) or pneumonitis remains an important adverse event identified with treatment with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Drug-induced ILD (DILD) accounts for 3%-5% of common ILD cases and is a significant problem in clinical practice. Hence, with the anticipation of the widespread use of ADCs, it will be important for guidelines and recommendations to be established to direct and standardize the management of DILD by a multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Percutaneous glue embolization was investigated as a treatment for bronchopleural fistulae (BPFs) and alveolar-pleural fistulae (APFs) associated with persistent air leak. Seven consecutive patients with persistent air leak were treated with percutaneous glue embolization of the BPF/APF from both iatrogenic and spontaneous causes. Treatment was performed using direct n-butyl cyanoacrylate (nBCA) glue injection for discrete, visible fistulae (n = 4), fibrin glue spray for suspected tiny multifocal leaks (n = 2), or both (n = 1).

Urological endometriosis is rare and accounts for approximately 1% of women with endometriosis. The pathophysiology of bladder endometriosis may be divided into two different causes, namely primary and secondary. The primary form occurs spontaneously and manifests in a form of a generalized pelvic disease whereas the secondary form is thought to be iatrogenic and typically occurs after pelvic surgery such as Cesarean section or hysterectomy.

Background: Outpatient medical follow-up post-stroke is not only crucial for secondary prevention but is also associated with a reduced risk of rehospitalization. However, being voluntary and non-urgent, it is potentially determined by both healthcare needs and the socio-demographic context of stroke survivor-caregiver dyads. Therefore, we aimed to examine the role of caregiver factors in outpatient medical follow-up (primary care (PC) and specialist outpatient care (SOC)) post-stroke.
