In recent years, more and more attention of researchers has been paid to the study of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCMP). The prevalence of this disease in older age groups is higher than previously thought, and the course of the disease is associated with a worse prognosis and treatment difficulties. Researchers are considering various signaling molecules whose expression changes are associated with myocardial damage and the development of DCMP; evaluation of changes in the expression of melatonin and its receptors in DCMP requires further study.

The polygenic risk score (PRS), together with the allele of the gene (), has shown high potential for Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk prediction. The aim of this study was to validate the model of polygenic risk in Russian patients with dementia. A microarray-based assay was developed to identify 21 markers of polygenic risk and alleles of the gene.

The Russian pharmaceutical market is dynamically developing and expanding, therefore, the commercial sector of drug circulation is a significant part of it and should be studied along with public procurement. Given the significant number of patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (DM) in our country, we considered it appropriate and interesting to analyze the structure and volume of turnover of antidiabetic drugs in the retail trade over five years.

Many studies aim to detect the early phase of dementia. One of the major ways to achieve this is to identify corresponding biomarkers, particularly immune blood biomarkers. The objective of this study was to identify such biomarkers in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in an experiment that included cognitive training.

After the resolution of the acute SARS-COV-2 infection, an important percentage of patients do not fully recover and continue to present several symptoms. Nevertheless, there is a lack of data in the literature on the effects of rehabilitation programs on medium- and long-term long COVID symptoms. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term outcomes after rehabilitation programs in long COVID syndrome patients.

The yeasts Cryptococcus albidus (Naganishia albida) usually occur on natural substrates and rarely are the etiological factor of different mycoses. More than a half of mycosis cases described in the literature were reported during the period from 2004 to 2021. In this regard, evaluation of yeast sensitivity to antimycotic drugs is as important as their identification.

ArdB proteins are known to inhibit the activity of the type I restriction-modification (RM-I) system, in particular EcoKI (IA family). The mechanism of ArdB's activity still remains unknown; the spectrum of targets inhibited has been poorly studied. In this work, it was shown that the presence of the ardB gene from the R64 plasmid could suppress the activity of EcoAI endonuclease (IB family) in Escherichia coli TG1 cells.

Importance: No clinically applicable diagnostic test exists for severe mental disorders. Lipids harbor potential as disease markers.
Objective: To define a reproducible profile of lipid alterations in the blood plasma of patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) independent of demographic and environmental variables and to investigate its specificity in association with other psychiatric disorders, ie, major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BPD).

Background And Aim: The resistance of susceptible fish populations and the adaptive potential of heterogeneous biofilms, which cause multiple antibacterial resistance and long-term persistence of microorganisms, mediate the development and outcome of the infectious process. The study of the fish immunological parameters in interaction with biofilm-forming bacteria is of practical importance for assessing the stability of the homeostasis of the fish. This study aimed to determine the immunobiological parameters of Linnaeus when interacting with biofilm-forming bacteria .

Methionine dependence of malignant cells is one of the cancer hallmarks. It is well described that methionine deprivation drives cancer cells death, both in vitro and in vivo. Methionine gamma-lyase (MGL) isolated from different species or obtained by genetic engineering can be used for effective methionine depletion.

Investigated group included 99 volunteers from 14 to 73 years old. Skin scales were collected from heel area of foot, and signs of heel skin trouble were expressed in points. In contrast to usual laboratory microscope magnification x900 we worked at x1750, what allowed to estimate not only fungal, but bacterial forms too.

(1) Background: Older people suffer from cognitive decline; several risk factors contribute to greater cognitive decline. We used acquired (COVID-19 infection) and non-modifiable (presence of rs429358 and rs7412 polymorphisms) factors to study the progression of subjective cognitive impairment while observing patients for one year. Cognitive training was used as a protective factor.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is among the most prevalent mental disorders worldwide. Factors causing the pathogenesis of MDD include gut microbiota (GM), which interacts with the host through the gut-brain axis. In previous studies of GM in MDD patients, 16S rRNA sequencing was used, which provided information about composition but not about function.

Respiratory viruses are infectious agents, which can cause pandemics. Although nowadays the danger associated with respiratory viruses continues to be evidenced by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) as the virus responsible for the current COVID-19 pandemic, other viruses such as SARS-CoV-1, the influenza A and B viruses (IAV and IBV, respectively), and the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can lead to globally spread viral diseases. Also, from a biological point of view, most of these viruses can cause an organ-damaging hyperinflammatory response known as the cytokine storm (CS).

The current trend in dietary supplements and functional foods is the use of lipophilic bioactive compounds. The sea buckthorn (Hippóphae rhamnoídes) contains some such compounds: polyunsaturated fatty acids, tocopherols, and carotenoids. Lipophilic components are best distributed using oil-in-water emulsions, which ensures their high bioavailability.

This study presents findings on the biological action of an integrated supplement containing the following components involved in osteogenesis and mineralization: vitamin D and silicon in the bioavailable and soluble form. A hypothesis that these components potentiate one another's action and make calcium absorption by the body more efficient was tested. Biological tests of the effect of vitamin D and silicon chelates on bone fracture healing and bone turnover were conducted using ICR mice and albino Wistar rats.
