[Effects of childhood trauma on the biochemical correlates of stress in men and women with nonpsychotic mental disorders].

Material And Methods: Women (n=308) and men (92) between 18 and 45 years of age, without serious somatic comorbidities, were examined. Laboratory evaluation included markers of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis activity (cortisol), hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid system (TSH), proinflammatory cytokines (Il-1β and Il-6) and the brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

Development of new antiepileptic drugs (AED) does not stop due to the fact that the number of patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsy remains at about 30%. One of the newest AEDs is perampanel (PER), a selective, non-competitive AMPA receptor antagonist to target post-synaptic glutamate transmission. The newest antiepileptic drug (AED) brivaracetam (Briviac, UCB Pharma) (BRV) was approved in the Russian Federation in 2017 as an adjuvant therapy for the treatment of partial seizures with/without secondary generalization in adults and adolescents over 16 years old with epilepsy. This review contains the data of BRV preclinical studies, pharmacokinetic profile and the results of comparative study of BRV and LEV. Using temporal lobe epilepsy as an example, staging of long term plasticity in the hippocampus is considered. Major stages demonstrating opposite alterations in neuroplasticity are active epileptogenesis and the period of established temporal lobe epilepsy. During the epileptogenesis, multiple events resulting in forming of epileptic neuronal nets occur: changes in glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons, increase of aberrant neurogenesis, axonal sprouting and dendrite remodeling, particularly, supported by an excessive enhancement of the BDNF system in specific hippocampal regions.

[Seronegative nonparaneoplastic Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome].

The authors studied two patients with Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) in whom the repeated examination did not find specific of LEMS P/Q type voltage-gates calcium channel autoantibodies. The results of clinical testing and electrophysiological examination showed the typical character of movement disorders with the absence of tendon reflexes and signs of disautonomia as well as a decrease in M-response amplitude and phenomena of decrement with low frequency- and increment with high frequency stimulation. Both patients revealed no signs of paraneoplastic process.

This is a report from the Task Force on Education of the ILAE Commission on Neuropsychiatry based on a survey about educational needs of epileptologists regarding management of the psychiatric comorbidities of epilepsy. The Task Force designed a quantitative questionnaire to survey the self-perceived confidence of child and adult epileptologists and psychiatrists in managing major psychiatric comorbidities of epilepsy to identify: (1) critical areas of improvement from a list of skills that are usually considered necessary for effective management of these conditions, and (2) the preferred educational format for improving these skills.

Background: Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) is a complex spectrum encompassing post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) and small vessel disease-related cognitive impairment. Despite the growing health, social, and economic burden of VCI, to date, no specific treatment is available, prompting the introduction of the concept of a disease modifier.

Consensus And Suggestions: Within this clinical spectrum, VCI and PSCI remain advancing conditions as neurodegenerative diseases with progression of both vascular and degenerative lesions accounting for cognitive decline.

Material And Methods: Twenty-seven patients with MG and 39 patients with LEMS were studied using low frequency repetitive nerve stimulation (3/ sec).

Results And Conclusion: The decrease of safety factor of neuromuscular transmission was equal in both groups.
