Introduction: The template method (TM), pioneered by Ozaki for aortic valve neocuspidization (AVNeo), has been widely adopted for aortic valve replacement, though it requires specialized instruments. This study introduces a novel formula method (FM), which uses the diameter of the aortic valve fibrous ring (AV-D) to determine the dimensions of the neocusps to be trimmed from autologous without the need for templates, potentially reducing costs and complexity. We aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of the FM with the established TM in patients undergoing AVNeo.

Background And Aims: The safety and tolerability of bulevirtide (BLV), a novel entry inhibitor of hepatitis delta virus, were evaluated in an integrated analysis of clinical trial results from patients with chronic hepatitis delta (CHD).
Methods: Week 48 on-treatment clinical and laboratory results from two Phase 2 trials (MYR203 [NCT02888106] and MYR204 [NCT03852433]) and one Phase 3 trial (MYR301 [NCT03852719]) were pooled (N = 269). Patients were grouped as follows: BLV 2 mg (n = 64), BLV 10 mg (n = 115), pegylated interferon-alfa (n = 39) and control (n = 51).

Background: The associations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) level and functionality with lipid metabolism, inflammation, and innate immunity in coronary artery disease (CAD) remain controversial. The differential expression of a set of genes related to HDL metabolism (24 genes) and atherogenesis (41 genes) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from CAD and control patients with varied HDL cholesterol (HDL-C) levels was compared.
Methods: 76 male patients 40-60 years old with CAD diagnosed by angiography and 63 control patients were divided into three groups with low, normal (1.

Introduction: Preoperative fasting is recommended by international guidelines as a means to minimize the risk of aspiration of gastric content during induction of anesthesia or surgery. Prolonged preoperative fasting is, however, discouraged due to the associated side effects such as dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, which can negatively impact recovery after surgery. An initial quality improvement study revealed poor implementation of the best practice guidelines on preoperative fasting in three departments of a hospital and an institutional action plan was devised to enforce adherence to these guidelines.

The development of devices for continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII or insulin pumps) dramatically improved medical care for patients with diabetes mellitus. Insulin pump production widens annually resulting in number of new models entering the market, that differs in price but are similar in technical features. The entering of such new models to the Russian market can cause practical issues both in patient and in health care provider, so their estimation is of great importance.

Unlabelled: Diaphragm dysfunction develops in central nervous system damage, chest injuries, complications of cardiac surgery, long-term artificial lung ventilation, respiratory diseases. Anatomical morphological features of phrenic nerves allow to effectively use electromagnetic stimulation methods for functional recovery of the diaphragm in different pathological conditions. Invasive and non-invasive, electric and magnetic methods of stimulation are used depending on the severity of manifestations of the diaphragm dysfunction and its genesis.

Background: Factors associated with severe COVID-19 infection have been identified; however, the impact of infection on longer-term outcomes is unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of COVID-19 infection on the trajectory of lung function and nutritional status in people with cystic fibrosis (pwCF).
Methods: This is a retrospective global cohort study of pwCF who had confirmed COVID-19 infection diagnosed between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021.

Objective: Epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS) is a common, well-characterized type of epidermolysis bullosa. However, some rare syndromic EBS phenotypes are not well described. The accumulation of clinical descriptions of patients with syndromic subtypes of EBS is important for understanding the natural history of the disease and assessing genotype-phenotype correlations.

Pathogenic variants in the gene lead to a spectrum of rare autosomal recessive phenotypes, including osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) Type XI, Bruck syndrome Type I (BS I), and the congenital arthrogryposis-like phenotype (AG), each with variable clinical manifestations that are crucial for diagnosis. This study analyzed the clinical-genetic characteristics of patients with these conditions, focusing on both known and newly identified variants. We examined data from 15 patients, presenting symptoms of OI and joint contractures.

Advances in the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) have revolutionized the field. SMA is a rare autosomal recessive neurodegenerative motor neuron disease in which wide phenotypic variability has been described. The rate of increase in neurological deficit and the severity of the disease is mainly determined by the amount of functional SMN (Survival of Motor Neuron) protein.

We presented the clinical case of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) associated with pheochromocytoma (PHEO) in a man under 40 years old without family history. The diagnosis of NF-1 was established based on 4 signs of the disease (multiple café au lait macules, scoliotic changes in posture, the presence of multiple neurofibromas, Lisch nodules). The diagnosis of PHEO was determined by a significant increase of free metanephrin/normethanephrin levels in daily urine, a malignant CT phenotype of the right adrenal tumor, and confirmed by pathomorphological study.

Background: Hyperprolactinemia accompanies growth hormone hypersecretion in approximately 25-39% of cases. There is a recommendation to determine the level of prolactin in clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of acromegaly. However, there is no understanding of the necessity to investigate the IGF-1 level in patients with hyperprolactinemia and a pituitary adenoma.

Atherosclerosis is extremely widespread. Traditionally, it is considered a disease of older people, who most often experience problems with the heart and blood vessels. While much attention from the scientific community has been paid to studying the association between aging and atherosclerosis, as well as its consequences, there is evidence that atherosclerosis occurs at an early age.
