Plasma modes in capacitively coupled superconducting nanowires.

We investigate plasma oscillations in long electromagnetically coupled superconducting nanowires. We demonstrate that in the presence of inter-wire coupling plasma modes in each of the wires get split into two "new" modes propagating with different velocities across the system. These plasma modes form an effective dissipative quantum environment interacting with electrons inside both wires and causing a number of significant implications for the low-temperature behavior of the systems under consideration.

As assemblies of genomes of new species with varying degrees of relationship appear, it becomes obvious that structural rearrangements of the genome, such as inversions, translocations, and transposon movements, are an essential and often the main source of evolutionary variation. In this regard, the following questions arise. How conserved are the regulatory regions of genes? Do they have a common evolutionary origin? And how and at what rate is the functional activity of genes restored during structural changes in the promoter region? In this article, we analyze the evolutionary history of the formation of the regulatory region of the gene in different lineages of the genus , as well as the participation of mobile elements in structural rearrangements and in the replacement of specific areas of the promoter region with those of independent evolutionary origin.

The effect of hyperenhancement of Raman scattering (RS) appearing on microcracks of the metal deposition (silver and gold) of uniaxially stretched polymer track-etched membranes is investigated. Deformation of membranes with a combination of high surface density and small diameter of their pores leads to the development of many microcracks in the metal coating. The efficiency of the surface enhancement RS (SERS) of the synthesized metasurfaces has been investigated on the example of organic compound malachite green, and the possibility to recognize extremely low fractions of the substance was demonstrated.

The present paper describes a responsive hydrogel of nontoxic, biocompatible, and biodegradable polymer carboxymethyl hydroxypropyl guar with dynamic covalent cross-links and embedded cobalt ferrite nanoparticles. The thermodynamic state of the gas is given by a Legendrian submanifold in a contact thermodynamic space. The formation of a segregated network structure (wittingly uneven distribution of a filler) is one of the most promising strategies for the fabrication of electrically conductive polymer composites at present. However, the simultaneous achievement of high values of electrical conductivity with the retention of well mechanical properties within this approach remains a great challenge. We investigate superconductor-insulator quantum phase transitions in ultrathin capacitively coupled superconducting nanowires with proliferating quantum phase slips. We derive a set of coupled Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless-like renormalization group equations demonstrating that interaction between quantum phase slips in one of the wires gets modified due to the effect of plasma modes propagating in another wire. As a result, the superconductor-insulator phase transition in each of the wires is controlled not only by its own parameters but also by those of the neighboring wire as well as by mutual capacitance.

The ultra-fast dynamics of superconducting vortices harbors rich physics generic to nonequilibrium collective systems. The phenomenon of flux-flow instability (FFI), however, prevents its exploration and sets practical limits for the use of vortices in various applications. To suppress the FFI, a superconductor should exhibit a rarely achieved combination of properties: weak volume pinning, close-to-depairing critical current, and fast heat removal from heated electrons.
