Background: Managing type 1 diabetes in school is a real challenge for teachers, parents, and students themselves. Involving school educators in providing care and support is becoming more of a necessity than a luxury to facilitate access to healthcare services in schools for children with type 1 diabetes.
Objectives: Our work aimed to assess the background knowledge of teachers on type 1 diabetes and evaluate the impact of an educational intervention in improving this knowledge.

Introduction: In the Netherlands, since 1996, there is a national cervical cancer (CC) screening programme in place for women aged 30-60 years. The participation of Turkish- and Moroccan-Dutch women is very low. To facilitate their informed decision-making, we developed a culturally sensitive educational video, and evaluated it through a questionnaire study.

Coal mining produces coal mine waste rock (CMWR), posing significant environmental risks, including acid mine drainage (AMD) if unmanaged. The Jerada Mine in eastern Morocco has accumulated CMWR since it began operations in 1936, with no rehabilitation efforts until 2001. This study assessed the stability of the T08 pile, which has been deposited over five decades across various oxidation zones.

The ethics committee for biomedical research of Casablanca (CERBC) was born within the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Casablanca (FMPC) in Morocco in 1989, following the impetus of some teachers who were aware, from their specialties and their concerns, to the protection of people who took part in clinical trials. From the start, the committee faced difficulties in giving itself regulatory legitimacy. Subsequently, it was necessary to make a major educational and communication effort with the medical staff in order to explain the notions of ethics and bioethics, which were unknown at the time to most of the doctors at the University Hospital.

This study evaluates the concentration of metals and trace elements (Al, Cd, Cu, Fe, Li, Pb, Zn) in the muscle tissue of Sardina pilchardus from three northeast Atlantic localities (Lisbon, Canary Islands, Rabat) and two western Mediterranean sites (Málaga, Cartagena) to assess food safety and environmental impact. A total of 100 sardines were sampled between January and June 2019, with specimens collected, homogenized by size and weight, and analyzed for metal content using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES). Results show significant geographical variation in metal concentrations, with Cartagena exhibiting the highest levels due to industrial and urban activities, while the Canary Islands had the lowest, likely influenced by geographical isolation and stringent environmental regulations.

The distinct conformational characteristics, functionality, affordability, low toxicity, and usefulness make calixarene-based compounds a promising treatment option for cancer. The aim of the present study is to synthesize a new calixarene-based compound and assess of its anticancer potential on some human cancer cells. The synthesized C-4-Hydroxyphenylcalix[4] resorcinarene (HPCR) was characterized by several spectroscopic techniques such as 1HNMR, 13CNMR, and X-ray crystallographic analysis to confirm its purity and identity.

It is commonly admitted that the continuous development of human infrastructure (HI), resulting in natural habitat fragmentation, affects farmland birds by misleading their strategies of nest site selection. Here, we examined how HI in agricultural landscape (AL) could be affecting nest habitat selection of Barbary partridge (BP; Alectoris barbara). A total of 160 BP nests were monitored during 4 years (2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022) in eight Moroccan agricultural zones.

Introduction: Ectopic pregnancies are a significant clinical concern, with 90 % occurring in the fallopian tubes. However, they can also manifest in other locations, including the cervix, ovary, and abdominal cavity. Abdominal pregnancies, which constitute less than 1 % of ectopic pregnancies, are associated with considerable morbidity and mortality.

The solid-state reaction technique was employed to synthesize lead-free ceramics, specifically (1-x-y)(NaBi)TiO-xBaTiO-y(KBi)TiO. For attaining a pure perovskite phase, it was found that the optimal calcination temperature is 1000 °C, maintained for a duration of 4 h. Through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) was detected in (1-x-y)NBT-xBT-yKBT ceramics for certain molar compositions, specifically in 0.

In recent years, dynamic texture classification has become an important task for computer vision. This is a challenging task due to the unknown spatial and temporal nature of dynamic texture. To overcome this challenge, we investigate the potential of deep learning approaches and propose a novel spatio-temporal approach (STEFF) for dynamic texture classification that combines the representation power of motion and appearance using the difference and average operators between video sequences.

Purpose: Eye rubbing is considered to play a significant role in the progression of keratoconus and of corneal ectasia following refractive surgery. To our knowledge, no tool performs an objective quantitative evaluation of eye rubbing using a device that is familiar to typical patients. We introduce here an innovative solution for objectively quantifying and preventing eye rubbing.

This paper presents a survey and critical analysis of the mathematical literature on modeling of dynamic populations living in a fluid medium. The present review paper is divided into two main parts: The first part deals with the multiscale derivation of deterministic and stochastic cross-diffusion systems governed by the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The derivation is obtained from the underlying description at the microscopic scale in kinetic theory models according to the micro-macro decomposition method.

A species' diet is highly dependent on the availability of food resources in space and time, as well as on intrinsic factors such as sex or age. Accurate assessments of variations in the diet composition of bird populations across spatial scales, seasons and demographic groups are essential not only for understanding the basic ecology of species, but also for the conservation of endangered ones. However, our current knowledge about how birds' diet change according to spatio-temporal variations or intrinsic factors is very limited.
