Introduction: Spinning Babies® procedures and the Rebozo technique have been recently implemented as additional interventions in laboring women with a fetus in occiput posterior position (OPP) to favor the rotation to an anterior position, which improve birth experience and health outcomes. Our study aimed to compare the probability of occurrence of persistent OPP (POPP) of the fetal head at the second stage of labor between retrospective and prospective cohorts and to assess associated sociodemographic, obstetric and intrapartum factors.
Methods: We conducted a combined prospective and retrospective cohort study including 1500 women giving birth in 2017 (retrospective cohort) and 779 between 15 May and 15 December 2023 (prospective cohort).

Pimasertib, a potent antiproliferative drug, has been extensively studied for treating cancers characterized by dysregulation in the ERK/MAPK signaling pathway, such as melanoma. However, its therapeutic efficacy would greatly benefit from an increased selectivity for tumour cells and a longer half-life. Such improvements may be achieved by combining the rational design of a prodrug with its encapsulation in a potential nanodelivery system.

Background: Gait disorders are frequently reported in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD). Despite extensive research, the specific gait features affected by PD remain inadequately defined. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate kinematic, kinetic, and spatiotemporal parameters of gait in individuals with PD compared to healthy controls.

The emergence of vaccinomics and system vaccinology represents a transformative shift in immunization strategies, advocating for personalized vaccines tailored to individual genetic and immunological profiles. Integrating insights from genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and immunology, personalized vaccines offer the promise of enhanced efficacy and safety, revolutionizing the field of vaccinology. However, the development of personalized vaccines presents multifaceted challenges, including technical, ethical, economic, and regulatory considerations.

Background: Infusion therapy is widely used in clinical settings, particularly in intensive care units.
Aim: to explore the influence of simulated cardiac output on "bolus" or "backflow" events that can occur during syringe pump changeover, considering several factors that have been previously outlined in published research. Syringe infusion pumps are commonly used for precise continuous intravenous drug delivery.

Introduction: To evaluate the prognostic impact of substantial lymph vascular space invasion (LVSI) on the sentinel lymph node involvement and recurrence rate of patients with apparent uterine-confined endometrial cancer.
Materials And Methods: We enrolled consecutive patients with apparent confined endometrial cancer who underwent surgical staging with sentinel node mapping from 14 European reference centers. LVSI was analyzed semi-quantitatively, according to a 3-tiered scoring system classified as absent, focal, and substantial.

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a relevant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs). In the last years, an acute exacerbation (AE) - defined as an acute, clinically significant respiratory deterioration characterized by evidence of new widespread alveolar abnormality - has been reported to occur in virtually all ILD types, including ARD-ILD. The aim of this review is to describe the available and investigational treatments in patients affected by AE-ARD-ILD in light of the very low quality of evidence available.

Statins are generally known for their lipid-lowering properties and protection against cardiovascular events. However, growing evidence suggests that statins are a promising treatment for patients with chronic liver disease. Specifically, there is data supporting their role in reducing portal pressure and having a chemopreventive effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

COVID-19 has a negative impact on the survival of respiratory patients, especially those with interstitial lung disease. This review aims to better understand the effect of COVID-19 on patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). A systematic search of MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus performed from December 2019 up to July 2024 identified relevant studies.

: Periodontal disease is an inflammatory, chronic, and multifactorial disease. The objective of this study is to analyze the association between periodontal disease and some disorders such as papillomas (benign lesions), lichen planus (a chronic immune-mediated disorder), leukoplakia (potentially malignant lesions), and oral cancer (malignant lesions). : For this study, 42 patients were recruited whose supragingival and subgingival plaque was qualitatively analyzed using a phase-contrast microscope, which allowed for the detection of compatible bacterial flora (immobile and composed mainly of cocci) indicative of periodontal health and incompatible bacterial flora (mobile and composed mainly of spirochetes) indicative of periodontal pathology.

Background: In Italy, Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) have been adopted for hospital services reimbursement. In some Italian regions, nurse staffing allocation is purely volume-based, with different minutes/patient/day categories determined by the type of hospital ward. The Information System of Nursing Performance (SIPI) is a valid and reliable tool assessing nursing care complexity as an indicator of the actual nursing care demand.

Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are recommended for the management of thrombosis prophylaxis, especially in patients with atrial fibrillation. As substrates of cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4 and/or P-glycoprotein, they are implicated in potential drug-drug interactions. NS5A/NS5B inhibitors are direct-acting agents (DAAs) against the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection that exert a mild inhibition of P-glycoprotein without effects on CYP3A4.

Patients heterozygous for germline CBL loss-of-function (LOF) variants can develop myeloid malignancy, autoinflammation, or both, if some or all of their leukocytes become homozygous for these variants through somatic loss of heterozygosity (LOH) via uniparental isodisomy. We observed an upregulation of the inflammatory gene expression signature in whole blood from these patients, mimicking monogenic inborn errors underlying autoinflammation. Remarkably, these patients had constitutively activated monocytes that secreted 10 to 100 times more inflammatory cytokines than those of healthy individuals and CBL LOF heterozygotes without LOH.

Objectives: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) with emtricitabine/tenofovir to prevent HIV in individuals with hepatitis B virus (HBV) raises concerns about HBV reactivation when stopping event-driven PrEP or redundancy in HBV treatment for continuous PrEP (since tenofovir alone would be enough for HBV). Real-world data from PrEP services could provide useful epidemiological information on HBV prevalence in PrEP attendees in low-prevalence countries.
Methods: A retrospective analysis on PrEP attendees of three services in northern Italy were conducted to assess HBV prevalence among PrEP attendees and the need for primary cycle/booster dose HBV vaccination despite previous vaccination during childhood (at birth or 12 years).
