This study assesses 2 different disease activity measures, the Modified Truelove Witts Severity Index and the partial Mayo score, in hospitalized patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis (UC) for prediction of postdischarge corticosteroid-free clinical remission and endoscopic improvement to help guide future considerations for disease activity assessment. In this post hoc analysis from the Tofacitinib for Hospitalized Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis Management (TRIUMPH) trial, these results suggest resolution of the Mayo rectal bleeding subscore may have high prognostic utility and could be considered as a primary end point for hospitalized UC trials. The study underscores the need for further research on patient-reported outcomes and endoscopic indices in larger populations for inpatient UC trials.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine whether preoperative cervical muscle size, composition, and asymmetry from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can predict post-operative outcomes in patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM).
Methods: A total of 171 patients with DCM were included. Relative total cross-sectional area (RCSA), functional CSA (fat-free area, FCSA), ratio of FCSA/CSA (fatty infiltration) and asymmetry of the multifidus (MF) and semispinalis cervicis (SCer) together (MF + SCer), and cervical muscle as a group (MF, SCer, semispinalis capitis, and splenius capitis) were obtained from T2-weighted axial MR images at the mid-disk, at the level of maximum cord compression and the level below.

Background: Early resuscitation with blood components or products is emerging as best practice in selected patients with trauma and medical patients; as a result, out-of-hospital transfusion (OHT) programs are being developed based on limited and often conflicting evidence. This study aimed to provide guidance to Canadian critical care transport organizations on the development of OHT protocols.
Methods: The study period was July 2021 to June 2022.

Background: Supratubercle tibial rotational osteotomies are useful in patellar stabilizing procedures with high tibial-tuberosity to trochlear-groove distance caused by excessive external tibial torsion. An investigation determined one degree of internal tibial rotation results in 0.68 mm reduction of tibial-tuberosity to trochlear-groove distance, but did not account for anatomical variability.

Objectives: To examine the relationship between morphological changes of the deep extensor neck muscles in patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) and the level of maximum spinal cord compression (MSCC) and canal compromise (MCC). A secondary objective was to examine the relationship between muscle morphological changes with neck pain and functional scores related to neck pain and interference.

Background Stratifying high-risk histopathologic features in endometrial carcinoma is important for treatment planning. Radiomics analysis at preoperative MRI holds potential to identify high-risk phenotypes. Purpose To evaluate the performance of multiparametric MRI three-dimensional radiomics-based machine learning models for differentiating low- from high-risk histopathologic markers-deep myometrial invasion (MI), lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI), and high-grade status-and advanced-stage endometrial carcinoma.

The clear cell likelihood score (ccLS) has been proposed for the noninvasive differentiation of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) from other renal neoplasms on multiparametric MRI (mpMRI), though further external validation remains needed. The purpose of our study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance and interreader agreement of the ccLS version 2.0 (v2.

Mentoring has a vital role throughout the medical profession. Over the past few years, mentoring has become an area of focus as being an important aspect of radiologists' career starting from the early trainee level. A variety of mentorship strategies have come to the forefront, allowing many avenues for those seeking to engage in mentorship as either a mentee or mentor.

Purpose: Hemodynamically unstable trauma patients who would benefit from angioembolization (AE) typically also require emergent surgery for their injuries. The critical decision of transferring a patient to the operating room versus the interventional radiology (IR) suite can be bypassed with the advent of intra-operative AE (IOAE). Previously limited by the availability of costly rooms termed RAPTOR (resuscitation with angiography, percutaneous techniques and open repair) suites, it has been suggested that using C-arm digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is a comparable alternative.

MR images are affected by system delays and gradient field imperfections which induce discrepancies between prescribed and actual k-space trajectories. This could be even more critical for non-Cartesian data acquisitions where even a small deviation from the assumed k-space trajectory results in severe image degradation and artifacts. Knowledge of the actual k-space trajectories is therefore crucial and can be incorporated in the reconstruction of high quality non-Cartesian images.

Bleeding from stress-related mucosal disease in critically ill patients remains an important clinical management issue. Although only a small proportion (1-6%) of patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) will bleed, a substantial proportion exhibit clinical risk factors (mechanical ventilation for >48 h and a coagulopathy) that predict an increased risk of bleeding. Furthermore, upper gastrointestinal mucosal lesions can be found in 75-100% of patients in ICUs.

Background: It is unclear whether global experts with financial conflicts of interest (FCOIs) should be included in, be excluded from, or have a limited role in developing international clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). Optimal management of FCOIs to ensure independent, expert CPGs remains ethically contested.
Objective: To manage FCOIs and examine whether an ethics framework with discussion recusal by experts with FCOIs affects deliberations and voting on a CPG.
