Immunologic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a condition that affects four to 18 per 100 000 children every year. In most cases, spontaneous remission occurs, but splenectomy may be proposed. Exploring the site of platelet sequestration can help to better predict potential poor responders to splenectomy, but In-radiolabeled platelet scintigraphy (IPS) can be difficult to perform in children with very few platelets.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlations between areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and body composition measured by two dual-energy X-ray absorptiometers (DXA), the DMS Stratos® (STR) and the Hologic Horizon A® (HRZ), and then generate cross-calibration equations between the two scanners.
Methods: Repeat scans were obtained from 251 adults (85 % female), 36 ± 14 years old with mean body mass index (BMI) of 28.7 ± 11.

Background: The early mortality of trauma patients, mainly from hemorrhagic shock, raises interest in detecting the presence of non-exteriorized bleeding. Intra-hospital EFAST (Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) has demonstrated its utility in the assessment and management of severe trauma patients (STP). However, there is a lack of data regarding the diagnostic performance of prehospital EFAST (pEFAST).

Background: Angioedema (AE) due to acquired C1-inhibitor deficiency (AAE-C1-INH) is a rare disease associating recurrent edema of mucosa and skin. Several underlying diseases have been reported, mainly lymphoproliferative diseases and monoclonal gammopathy. However, 15 to 20% of patients never exhibit such a hematological condition.

Objectives: To characterize the serum cytokine profile in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) at onset and during follow-up and assess their utility for predicting relapses and disability.
Methods: This retrospective multicentric cohort study included patients aged 16 years and older meeting MOGAD 2023 criteria, with serum samples collected at baseline (≤3 months from disease onset) and follow-up (≥6 months from the baseline), and age-matched and time to sampling-matched patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Eleven cytokines were assessed using the ELLA system.

Background: External lumbar drainage (ELD) of cerebrospinal fluid may help control intracranial pressure following a traumatic brain injury. We aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of ELD in post-traumatic intracranial hypertension (IH).
Methods: This retrospective monocentric cohort study was conducted in the trauma critical care unit of the regional Level-I trauma centre between January 2012 and December 2022.

Although senescent cells can be eliminated by the immune system, they tend to accumulate with age in various tissues. Here we show that senescent cells can evade immune clearance by natural killer (NK) cells by upregulating the expression of the disialylated ganglioside GD3 at their surface. The increased level of GD3 expression on senescent cells that naturally occurs upon aging in liver, lung, kidney or bones leads to a strong suppression of NK-cell-mediated immunosurveillance.

Research has found that high social media use is associated with a greater tendency to compare oneself with others, which in turn may heighten body image concerns and problematic eating behaviours. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the mean association between online social comparison and body image concerns, eating disorder behaviours and positive body image. Eligible articles published between 2008 and 2024 were searched for in scientific databases.

Background: Indications for Veno-venous (VV) or veno-arterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) after trauma rely on poor evidence. The main aims were to describe the population of trauma patients requiring either VV or VA ECMO and report their clinical management and outcomes.
Methods: An observational multicentre retrospective study was conducted in 17 Level 1 trauma centres in France between January 2010 and December 2021.

Background: 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole (TCMTB) is a fungicide product widely used in the leather industry, particularly since the 1990s. However, reports of allergic contact dermatitis triggered by this chemical are scarce.
Objectives: To investigate three cases of dermatitis following contact with leather products, possibly related to TCMTB.

Introduction: Membranous nephropathy can lead to end-stage kidney disease, for which kidney transplantation is the preferred therapy. However, the disease often relapses, which can impact allograft survival.
Methods: We conducted a prospective multicenter study in France involving 72 patients with membranous nephropathy who were awaiting and then underwent kidney transplantation.

Cocaine use can cause multiple cardiovascular complications, including heart failure. This general review of the literature delivers data on the relationship between cocaine consumption and the development of heart failure, as well as the elements of its diagnosis and management. A literature search was carried out using the PubMed, Web Of Science, and Google Scholar bibliographic databases over the period of 2007-2022 using the following keywords: "cocaine" AND "heart failure" NOT "acute heart disease".

Introduction: Lesion load (LL), deep gray matter (DGM) and normal-appearing white matter (NAWM) susceptibility and morphometry may help in monitoring brain changes in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. We aimed at evaluating the feasibility of a fully automated segmentation and the potential interrelation between these biomarkers and clinical disability.
Methods: Sixty-six patients with brain MRIs and clinical evaluations (Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS]) were retrospectively included.

Background: Despite vaccination, patients receiving anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for multiple sclerosis (MS) or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) have an increased risk of developing severe or protracted COVID-19. The aim of this study was to describe the effect of COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) in patients with MS or NMOSD exposed to anti-CD20 and infected by SARS-CoV-2.
Methods: This French national, retrospective cohort study was conducted between November 2020 and June 2023.

Non-transfusional iron overload (IOL) in hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is poorly documented compared with other red blood cell disorders. We studied 13 HS adults with confirmed IOL to identify potential genetic factors. Using a next-generation sequencing panel of 46 genes related to HS, anaemia and iron metabolism, we found no association between IOL and the genes involved in HS nor the HFE:p.
