Objective: To explore the association of maternal characteristics, oxygenation, and mechanical ventilatory parameters with fetal and neonatal outcomes.
Methods: The present study was a multicenter, binational (Argentina/Colombia), prospective, cohort study, conducted in 21 intensive care units (ICUs) and including pregnant or postpartum patients with COVID-19 pneumonia requiring advanced respiratory support and their fetuses/neonates. Advanced respiratory support was defined as high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), non-invasive ventilation (NIV) or invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV).

Background: Data on patients aged 90 or older are rare. This study aims to describe clinical characteristics, treatment strategies, and clinical outcomes (rates of VTE recurrence, major bleeding, and mortality), during the first 3 months of anticoagulant treatment for VTE, depending on the treatment period.
Methods: We analyzed data from RIETE, an ongoing global observational registry of patients with objectively confirmed acute VTE, grouped in 5-year intervals (2004-2008, 2009-2013, 2014-2018, and 2019-2023).

Background: The purpose of this study was to determine age group differences in the postural stability of female rhythmic gymnasts, as well as the asymmetries in postural control between them.
Methods: A total of 126 female rhythmic gymnasts (aged 6-12 years) were tested. The rhythmic gymnasts were grouped based on their age between 6-8 years (N.
This report presents the results of surveillance on transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in cattle, sheep, goats, cervids and other species, and genotyping in sheep and goats, carried out in 2023 by 27 Member States (MS, EU27), the United Kingdom (in respect of Northern Ireland, (XI)) and other eight non-EU reporting countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland (the data reported by Switzerland include those of Liechtenstein) and Türkiye. In total, 948,165 cattle were tested by EU27 and XI (-3%, compared with 2022), with five atypical BSE cases reported (four H-type: two in Spain, one in France and one in Ireland; one L-type in the Netherlands); and 46,096 cattle by eight non-EU reporting countries with two atypical BSE cases reported by Switzerland. Three additional atypical BSE cases were reported by UK (1), USA (1) and Brazil (1).

Insufficient quality of the underlying cause of death in the Brazilian Mortality Information System (SIM), acronym in Portuguese underlists violence and it is necessary to redistribute garbage causes (GC) into valid causes in public health prevention. This study estimated mortality from external causes using the GC redistribution method (GBD-Brazil) and compared it with SIM and estimated data from the GBD-IHME study from 2010 to 2019 in Brazil and its states. The GBD-Brazil GC redistribution algorithm applies previous steps of the GBD-IHME with modifications, using two criteria: proportion of target causes (valid) or reclassification of investigated causes.

flower is used in traditional medicine for its antioxidant and antibacterial properties, which are attributed to phenolic compounds. These compounds present different grades of associations with the plant matrix (free, esterified, and insoluble). This study aimed to determine which fraction contributes the most to total phenolic and flavonoid contents and bioactive properties.

: The antidiabetic effect of SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2-is) is based on their ability to increase glucose excretion through urine by inhibiting the kidney-resident SGLT2 protein. Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (EuDKA) is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening adverse effect of these medications, which are notable for their antidiabetic, cardiovascular, and renal protective properties. This study aimed to clarify the impact of SGLT2-is on demographic, clinical, and biochemical characteristics in patients with DKA.

: Non-dipper hypertension (HT), a condition in which blood pressure does not drop sufficiently at night compared to daytime, is considered a serious condition that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and organ damage. This study aimed to examine the relationship between dipper and non-dipper blood pressure patterns, hepatosteatosis, and biochemical markers in hypertensive and normotensive individuals. Demographic, biochemical, and hepatic ultrasonography data from 142 patients who underwent 24 h ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM) were evaluated retrospectively and cross-sectionally in this study.

. National surveys have reported variable prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), due to differences in the characteristics of the population, study design, equations used for the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and definitions. The EH-UH 2 survey is the first study evaluating CKD prevalence, characteristics, and awareness in Croatia.

Due to their nature, using shear thickening fluids (STFs) in engineering applications has sparked an interest in developing energy-dissipating systems, such as damping devices or shock absorbers. The Rheinforce technology allows the design of customized energy dissipative composites by embedding microfluidic channels filled with STFs in a scaffold material. One of the reasons for using microfluidic channels is that their shape can be numerically optimized to control pressure drop (also known as rectifiers); thus, by controlling the pressure drop, it is possible to control the energy dissipated by the viscous effect.

: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a growing public health problem and one of the leading causes of premature death worldwide. The progressive nature of CKD is associated with serious complications that can reduce the quality of life in CKD patients. Additional factors that can worsen well-being include dialysis treatment, malnutrition, inflammation, and lack of social support.

The present study aims to deepen the knowledge of the microbiota, gross composition, physico-chemical and morpho-textural features, biogenic amines content and volatilome of Njeguški cheese, one of the most popular indigenous cheeses produced in Montenegro. Cheese samples were collected in duplicate from three different batches produced by three Montenegrin artisan producers. For the first time, the microbiota of Njeguški cheese was investigated using both culture-dependent techniques and metagenomic analysis.

Introduction: There are grounds for the hypothesis that poor sleep quality, regardless of the pre-gestational nutritional status, is a risk factor for inadequate gestational weight gain.
Objective: To investigate the association between sleep quality and insufficient or excessive gestational weight gain in Brazilian pregnant women without gestational complications and monitored in public prenatal care units.
Methods: This is a cross-sectional study nested within a cohort study that reviewed pregnant women's mental health, sleep, and nutritional outcome.

This study aimed to examine the effect of thiopental monotherapy as well as its combination with different agents used in anesthesia induction, on cardiac function and redox state of rats with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). A total of 40 male rats were used in this study and randomly divided into five groups: thiopental (TIO), fentanyl + thiopental (FEN + TIO), remifentanil + thiopental (REM + TIO), midazolam + thiopental (MID + TIO), and dexmedetomidine + thiopental (DEX + TIO). Animals were anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of thiopental 85 mg/kg, fentanyl 0.

Four, presumably microendemic new species are described on the basis of morphology of the adult males and females. Each species was collected only in a single mountain range of the western Balkans: Kovács & Murányi, (Albania, Çermenikë), (Serbia, Golija), (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kozara), (Montenegro, Visitor). Their morphological affinities and ecology are discussed, phylogenetic relations will be described in the framework of ongoing molecular studies of Balkan species.

Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.
