The conversion of azathioprine (AZA) to active 6-thioguanine nucleotides (6-TGN) is essential for its clinical efficacy; however, another metabolite formed, 6-methylmercaptopurine (6-MMP), is related to hepatotoxicity. Blood samples were collected from 37 patients under AZA's treatment, and a new HPLC-UV method was validated and applied for simultaneous quantification of 6-TGN and 6-MMP in erythrocytes of Crohn's disease (CD) patients. The concentration of 6-TGN and 6-MMP found ranged from 4.

Reports focusing on biomedical principlism and the role of anaesthesiologists in palliative care are rare. We present the case of a newborn with multiple craniofacial anomalies and a diagnosis of ADAM "sequence," in which surgical removal of placental adhesions to the dura mater and the correction of meningocele was not indicated due to the very short life expectancy. After 48 hours, the odor from the placenta indicted a necrotic process, which prevented the parents from being close to the child and increased his isolation.

Approximately 40% of ischemic strokes have no clearly definable etiology and are termed cryptogenic strokes. Patent foramen ovale, a small communication between the left and right atria, is considered to be a risk factor for cerebral embolism. In this study, we report the case of a 29-year-old woman with diagnosis of ischemic stroke due to patent foramen ovale who has undergone percutaneous endovascular closure.
