Background: The Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) began in 2018 as a collaborative learning health system committed to improving outcomes in pediatric heart failure, including children and adults with congenital heart disease, supported with ventricular assist devices (VADs). This report describes patient and device characteristics, and outcomes through 1-year post-implant.

The C3PO collaborative, with a history of successful quality improvement (QI) initiatives, leveraged registry participants to develop a multi-center QI initiative to reduce adverse events (AEs) in congenital cardiac catheterization. A 32-person, interdisciplinary working group analyzed audited data for all congenital cardiac catheterization cases from 2014-2017. Introduction: While clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for pediatric oncology infection prophylaxis and management exist, few data describe actual management occurring at pediatric oncology centers.

Methods: An electronic survey querying infection management practices in nontransplant pediatric oncology patients was iteratively created by the Children's Oncology Group (COG) Cancer Control and Supportive Care Infectious Diseases Subcommittee and sent to leaders at all COG institutions, limiting each site to one response to represent their institution.

Pediatric solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients with splenic dysfunction are at increased risk for infections, and tailored guidance on the management of asplenia/hyposplenism among SOT recipients is often lacking. The purpose of this article is to provide practice recommendations via a frequently asked questions (FAQs) format that focuses on three main domains: the identification of asplenia/hyposplenism among SOT recipients/candidates, prophylactic strategies for mitigating the risk of invasive disease associated with splenic dysfunction in the context of transplantation, and the provision of appropriate patient counseling on the risks associated with asplenia/hyposplenism. Answers to the FAQs are based on international expert opinion informed by practices for managing splenic dysfunction and associated data in other populations with asplenia.

Quantitative abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers non-invasive, objective assessment of diseases in the liver, pancreas, and other organs and is increasingly being used in the pediatric population. Certain quantitative MRI techniques, such as liver proton density fat fraction (PDFF), R2* mapping, and MR elastography, are already in wide clinical use. Other techniques, such as liver T1 mapping and pancreas quantitative imaging methods, are emerging and show promise for enhancing diagnostic sensitivity and treatment monitoring.

Objectives: We aimed to classify genetic variants in RYR1 and CACNA1S associated with malignant hyperthermia using biobank genotyping data in patients exposed to triggering anesthetics without malignant hyperthermia phenotype.

Methods: We identified individuals who underwent surgery and were exposed to triggering anesthetics without malignant hyperthermia phenotype and who had RYR1 or CACNA1S genotyping data available in our biobank. We classified all variants in the cohort using a Bayesian framework of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the Association of Molecular Pathologists guidelines for variant classification and updated the posterior probabilities from this model with the new information from our biobank cohort.

Chyloperitoneum is an uncommon diagnosis in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. While admitted for emesis and feeding intolerance, a 16-month-old male on PD developed milky-colored dialysate with increased triglycerides, indicating chyloperitoneum. In adult PD patients, chyloperitoneum can indicate potentially life-threatening pathologies including malignancies and liver or heart disease.
