ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters function as drug transporters and have been touted to be the main culprits in developing resistance to xenobiotic drugs in GBM. : This review systematically analyzed the efficacy of ABC transporters against various anticancer drugs from 16 studies identified from five databases (PubMed, Medline, Embase, Scopus, and ScienceDirect).

The Design and Validation of an Open-Palm Data Glove for Precision Finger and Wrist Tracking.

Wearable motion capture gloves enable the precise analysis of hand and finger movements for a variety of uses, including robotic surgery, rehabilitation, and most commonly, virtual augmentation. However, many motion capture gloves restrict natural hand movement with a closed-palm design, including fabric over the palm and fingers. In order to alleviate slippage, improve comfort, reduce sizing issues, and eliminate movement restrictions, this paper presents a new low-cost data glove with an innovative open-palm and finger-free design.

Basal Cell Carcinoma Arising in a Previous Full-Thickness Graft Donor Site: A Case Report and Comprehensive Literature Review.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common skin malignancy, typically occurs in sun-exposed areas but can develop in atypical locations, such as scars, burns, and skin graft donor sites. BCC arising specifically in full-thickness skin graft donor sites is exceptionally rare. This study presents a unique case of BCC occurring 16 years post-graft harvesting and provides a comprehensive literature review to analyze clinical patterns, possible etiopathogenesis, and treatment strategies.

SO Removal from Flue Gas by Char-Supported Fe-Zn-Cu Sorbent.

In this study, the mechanisms of SO adsorption on lignite char and char-supported Fe-Zn-Cu sorbent (FZC sorbent) were investigated. The FZC sorbent was prepared by the impregnation of metal components on raw coal followed by steam gasification. The aim of our study was to systematically review the common patient-reported SSEs associated with BCG-based and other intravesical chemotherapy treatment options for NMIBC.

Methods: A systematic search of AMED, MEDLINE, EMBASE, PsycINFO, Web of Knowledge, and Scopus was conducted from inception to July 2024.

Tocotrienol, as an antioxidant, could protect the osteoblasts and preserve bone quality under glucocorticoid treatment. From this study, we aimed to determine the effects of tocotrienol on MC3T3-E1 murine pre-osteoblastic cells treated with GC.

As snorkelling and breath-hold diving are conducted in a potentially hostile environment by participants with varying skills and health, fatalities occur. In this study, snorkelling and breath-hold diving fatalities were investigated in Australia from 2000 to 2021 to identify causes and countermeasures. The Australasian Diving Safety Foundation database and the National Coronial Information System were searched to identify snorkelling/breath-hold diving deaths from 2000 to 2021.

Smoking Among Healthcare Professionals in Australia: A Scoping Review.

However, healthcare professionals continue to smoke across the globe. This scoping review assessed the available data on the prevalence and predictors of smoking among healthcare professionals in Australia.

Background: Strong primary care (PC) services are the foundation of high-performing health care systems and can support effective responses to public health emergencies. Primary care practitioners (PCPs) and PC services played crucial roles in supporting global health system responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, these contributions have come at a cost, impacting on PC services and affecting patient care.

Oculomotor Function in Children and Adolescents with Autism, ADHD or Co-occurring Autism and ADHD.

Oculomotor characteristics, including accuracy, timing, and sensorimotor processing, are considered sensitive intermediate phenotypes for understanding the etiology of neurodevelopmental conditions, such as autism and ADHD. Oculomotor characteristics have predominantly been studied separately in autism and ADHD. Despite the high rates of co-occurrence between these conditions, only one study has investigated oculomotor processes among those with co-occurring autism + ADHD.

Genome-wide association analysis of composite sleep health scores in 413,904 individuals.

Recent genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of several individual sleep traits have identified hundreds of genetic loci, suggesting diverse mechanisms. Moreover, sleep traits are moderately correlated, so together may provide a more complete picture of sleep health, while illuminating distinct domains. Here we construct novel sleep health scores (SHSs) incorporating five core self-report measures: sleep duration, insomnia symptoms, chronotype, snoring, and daytime sleepiness, using additive (SHS-ADD) and five principal components-based (SHS-PCs) approaches.

Development of a checklist for cognitive assessment requirements (CARE) based on a Delphi consensus study.

Situational factors can influence cognitive performance and should be considered for conducting cognitive assessments. The objective of this project was to develop a checklist for Cognitive Assessment Requirements (CARE) to identify these situational factors before conducting cognitive assessments and account for them. This study employed a four-round Delphi approach involving 22 experts to identify situational factors that can impact cognitive assessment results.

Real-world treatment patterns and clinical characteristics in patients with moderate-to-severe systemic lupus erythematosus: an analysis of the SLE Prospective Observational Cohort Study (SPOCS).

Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a disease with heterogeneous treatment patterns largely based on organ involvement and disease severity. The SLE Prospective Observational Cohort Study (SPOCS) collected data worldwide over 3 years from patients with moderate-to-severe SLE. We report real-world patterns of medication use in patients enrolled in SPOCS.

Acromial stress fractures and reactions after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty: a case-control study.

Background: Acromial stress fractures can occur after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA). We performed this study to assess the incidence, risk factors, characteristics, and outcome of acromial stress fractures and reactions after RTSA.

Methods: We determined the incidence of acromial stress fractures and reactions in a cohort of patients who underwent RTSA, and assessed risk factors using a case-control design.

Predicting a strongly positive fluid balance in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury: A multicentre, international study.

Background: In critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI), a fluid balance (FB) > 2 L at 72 h after AKI diagnosis is associated with adverse outcomes. Identification of patients at high-risk for such fluid accumulation may help prevent it.

Methods: We used Australian electronic medical record (EMR)-based clinical data to develop the "AKI-FB risk score", validated it in a British cohort and used it to predict a positive FB >2 L at 72 h after AKI diagnosis.

Epigenetic age across development in children and adolescents with ADHD.

Unlabelled: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition, though symptoms vary both within and between people in the population. We aimed to investigate trajectories of individual biological aging through the change in residuals of DNA methylation age estimates (EpiAge) regressed on chronological age (EpiAge Gap) in children and adolescents with and without ADHD.

Methods: Three well-established epigenetic clocks (PedBE, Horvath, and Skin & blood) were used to estimate EpiAge in 293 saliva samples from 169 participants (91 with ADHD symptoms) from the Neuroimaging of the Children's Attention Project (NICAP).

How children and adolescents with chronic pain describe their pain experiences: A qualitative systematic review.

Purpose: To explore how children and adolescents with chronic pain describe their pain experiences.

Method: A systematic search of OVID Medline, CINAHL Complete, OVID Embase and APA PsycINFO (database inception to 19th August 2024) was conducted for qualitative or mixed-method studies investigating children's chronic pain experiences. Studies were excluded if focused on post-surgical or acute pain.

Patient flow problems affecting in-patient spinal cord injury rehabilitation in the Netherlands.

Objective: The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare publishes statistical indicator reports on the specialised mental health workforce. These include data for 2022-2023 on psychiatrists, mental health nurses, mental health occupational therapists, psychologists and mental health social workers. We provide a brief commentary on these reports, reflecting upon the implications of such changes for psychiatric practice and patient care.
