Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of combined Tranexamic acid (TXA) and dexamethasone (DEX) in total hip and knee arthroplasty.

Methods: PUBMED, EMBASE, MEDLINE and CENTRAL database were systematically searched for randomized studies that utilized TXA and DEX administration of TXA in THA or TKA.

Results: A total of three randomized studies enrolling 288 patients were eligible for qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Use of peritoneum in neovagina construction in gender-affirming surgery: A systematic review.

Background: Gender dysphoria is defined as discomfort or distress that is caused by a discrepancy between a person's gender identity and that person's sex assigned at birth. The main objective of this study was to review the application, efficacy and outcomes of a novel surgical technique, peritoneal pull-through technique vaginoplasty, in gender-affirming surgery. Specific outcome parameters include (1) healing time (2) depth of cavity achieved (3) alleviation of dysphoria (4) morbidity of the surgery.

Background: The purpose of this study is to present our experience with the modified pins and rubber band traction system, discuss problems encountered, and make recommendations to optimize outcomes.

Methods: Data was collected prospectively from November 2013 to March 2017 at a tertiary referral hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Patients with closed complex proximal interphalangeal joint fracture dislocations that were considered unsuitable for other surgical options were included in the study.

Unlabelled: This study characterises risk factors, complications and follow-up of minimal trauma hip fractures in young adults, adding to limited information examining the management framework. This group have severe systemic disease and significant risk of post-operative complications and subsequent fractures. Improved medical referral pathways enable management of osteoporosis and comorbid diseases.

Results: There were 35 207 adolescent presentations in the study period.

An unusual ulcer: A case of cutaneous mucormycosis caused by Rhizopus oryzae.

Mucormycoses are high-mortality infections feared by clinicians worldwide. They predominantly affect immunocompromised hosts and are associated with a spectrum of disease. We describe a case of cutaneous mucormycosis caused by Rhizopus oryzae in a patient with multiple risk factors cured with complete surgical excision and a short course of antifungal therapy.
