The main purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effect of Rosmarinus officinalis, Origanum compactum, Lavandula angustifolia, and Eucalyptus globulus essential oils (EOs) against gamma-radiation-induced damages on Tetrahymena pyriformis growing in presence of cobalt-60 source. The chemical composition of the 4 EOs was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The protective effects of EOs on growth, on morphology, and on some metabolic enzymes and antioxidant markers have been evaluated.

Cardiac involvement represents an increasingly frequent complication in systemic lupus, with pericarditis being the most classic cardiac manifestation. However, the most severe and fatal form seems to be myocarditis. We present the case of a patient with systemic lupus complicated by cardiogenic shock secondary to troponin-negative acute myopericarditis and successfully treated with mycophenolate mofetil and corticosteroid therapy.

Aims: This study aims to predict poor glycemic control during Ramadan among non-fasting patients with diabetes using machine learning models.
Methods: First, we conducted three consultations, before, during, and after Ramadan to assess demographics, diabetes history, caloric intake, anthropometric and metabolic parameters. Second, machine learning techniques (Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machine, Naive Bayes, K-nearest neighbor, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Extra Trees Classifier and Catboost) were trained using the data to predict poor glycemic control among patients.

Early infancy is critical for the development of an infant's gut flora. Many factors can influence microbiota development during the pre- and postnatal periods, including maternal factors, antibiotic exposure, mode of delivery, dietary patterns, and feeding type. Therefore, investigating the connection between these variables and host and microbiome interactions in neonatal development would be of great interest.

Paraesophageal hernias (PEH) have a high recurrence rate, which can justify the use of a mesh during their repair. Mesh use in PEH repair is highly debated as it can lead to many complications like erosion and migration of the mesh, like in our case. Here, we present a case of a 23-year-old woman operated on multiple occasions for a recurring PEH and who presented an intraesophageal migration of the mesh.

In adult patients, extramedullary relapse (EMR) in B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) has a pejorative prognosis, especially after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Blinatumomab, a bispecific CD3/CD19 antibody, is approved for relapsed/refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and has proven its efficacy with good complete response (CR) rates and molecular responses in several trials. Unusual sites of relapse following treatment with blinatumomab for ALL are rarely reported.

Low phospholipid-associated cholelithiasis (LPAC) is a genetic disease responsible for the development of intrahepatic lithiasis. It is retained in the presence of two of the following three criteria: age of onset of biliary symptoms less than 40 years; echogenic intrahepatic images or microlithiasis; and the recurrence of biliary clinical signs after cholecystectomy. The majority of clinical situations are simple and not serious, but some complicated forms may require more invasive endoscopic or surgical treatments.
