Aims: Through a simple machine learning approach, we aimed to assess the risk of all-cause mortality after 5 years in a European population, based on electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters, age, and sex.
Methods: The study included patients between 40 and 90 years old who underwent ECG recording between January 2008 and October 2022 in the metropolitan area of Modena, Italy. Exclusion criteria established a patient cohort without severe ECG abnormalities, namely, tachyarrhythmias, bradyarrhythmias, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, second- or third- degree AV block, bundle-branch blocks, more than three premature beats, poor signal quality, and presence of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter- defibrillators.

Background And Aims: Previous observational data indicate that young adults treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for acute ischemic stroke have more favorable outcomes and less complications when compared to older adults. Given the limited data on this topic, we aimed to provide more evidence on clinical outcomes and safety in such patients, using a large international thrombolysis registry.
Methods: In this prospective multicenter study, we used data from the Thrombolysis in Ischemic Stroke Patients (TRISP) registry from 1998 to 2020.

Pancreatic Neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms whose tumor biology is still little known. Thanks to next-generation sequencing, pathogenic mutations in base-excision-repair gene and homologous recombination genes and seem to have a role in the development of pNETs. We assumed that Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) could be a critical pathogenetic mechanism for pNETs.

Part I of this systematic review summarized the state-of-the-art of pediatric psychopharmacology for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a severe and lifelong neurodevelopmental disorder. The purpose of this Part II follow-up article is to provide a systematic overview of the experimental psychopharmacology of ASD. To this aim, we have first identified in the Clinicaltrials.

Background: Acute intracranial occlusion of the internal carotid artery (ICA) can be distinguished into (a) occlusion of the terminal ICA, involving the proximal segments of the middle or anterior cerebral artery (ICA-L/-T) and (b) non-terminal intracranial occlusions of the ICA with patent circle of Willis (ICA-I). While patients with ICA-L/-T occlusion were included in all randomized controlled trials on endovascular therapy (EVT) in anterior large vessel occlusion, data on EVT in ICA-I occlusion is scarce. We thus aimed to evaluate effectiveness and safety of EVT in ICA-I occlusions in comparison to ICA-L/-T occlusions.

Background: Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS) is caused by monoallelic loss or inactivation at the SHANK3 gene, located in human chr 22q13.33, and is often associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Objectives: To assess the clinical and developmental phenotype in a novel sample of PMS patients, including for the first time auxometric trajectories and serotonin blood levels.

Acellular dermal matrices currently represent a useful reconstructive method in onco-dermatologic surgery. Nevertheless, they have some limitations, especially in terms of costs and outpatient post-operative wound care. While some studies on their cost-to-benefit ratio in breast surgery have already been issued, evidence is currently lacking in onco-dermatological surgery.

Pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs), including pancreatic pseudocysts (PPs) and walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WON), are common complications of pancreatitis and pancreatic surgery. Historically, the treatment of these conditions has relied on surgical and radiological approaches; however, it has later shifted toward an endoscopy-based approach. With the development of dedicated lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS), interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)-guided procedures have become the standard approach for PFC drainage.

Pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs), including pancreatic pseudocysts (PPs) and walled-off pancreatic necrosis (WON), are common complications of pancreatitis and pancreatic surgery. Historically, the treatment of these conditions has relied on surgical and radiological approaches. The treatment of patients with PFCs has already focused toward an endoscopy-based approach, and with the development of dedicated lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMS), it has almost totally shifted towards interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)-guided procedures.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms represent a group of clonal hematopoietic disorders of which myelofibrosis (MF) is the most aggressive. In the context of myeloid neoplasms, there is a growing recognition of the dysregulation of immune response and T-cell function as significant contributors to disease progression and immune evasion. We investigated cytotoxic T-cell exhaustion in MF to restore immune response against malignant cells.

This study investigates the role of body composition parameters in patients with pancreatic cancer undergoing surgical treatment. The research involved 88 patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer who underwent surgery at the Modena Cancer Center between June 2015 and October 2023. Body composition parameters were obtained from CT scans performed before and after surgery.

Introduction: The effectiveness of early interventions in young autistic children is well established, but there is great interindividual variability in treatment response. Predictors of response to naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions (NDBI), like the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), are needed.
Methods: We conducted an exploratory study to prospectively seek predictors of response in 32 young children treated with ESDM after receiving an ASD diagnosis.

The real-world, retrospective, NEROnE registry investigated the impact of next-generation sequencing (NGS) in advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (pts) at three oncology units in the north of Italy between January 2020 and December 2022. We focused on the clinical characterization and outcomes of NSCLC with rare molecular alterations: exon 20 insertion, non-activating mutations, V600E and non-V600, and rearrangements, , ErbB2, and mutations. Overall, these represented 6.

The Head and Neck Cancer International Group (HNCIG) has undertaken an international modified Delphi process to reach consensus on the essential data variables to be included in a minimum database for HNC research. Endorsed by 19 research organisations representing 34 countries, these recommendations provide the framework to facilitate and harmonise data collection and sharing for HNC research. These variables have also been incorporated into a ready to use downloadable HNCIG minimum database, available from the HNCIG website.

Two -like isolates, 8cVS16 and 9fVS26, were isolated from a water distribution system (WDS) in a healthcare facility. Cells were Gram- and Ziehl Neelsen-stain-negative, rod-shaped, motile, and exhibited a blue-white fluorescence under Wood's lamp at 365 nm. The strains grew in a range of 32-37 °C on BCYE with (C+), GVPC, and MWY agar medium, with a positive reaction for oxidase, catalase, and gelatinase.

Introduction: Despite several therapeutic efforts, lung cancer remains a highly lethal disease. Novel therapeutic approaches encompass immune-checkpoint inhibitors, targeted therapeutics and antibody-drug conjugates, with different results. Several studies have been aimed at identifying biomarkers able to predict benefit from these therapies and create a prediction model of response, despite this there is a lack of information to help clinicians in the choice of therapy for lung cancer patients with advanced disease.

The impact of long-COVID-19 syndrome is rather variable, since it is influenced by several residual confounders. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of long COVID-19 in healthcare workers (HCWs) from four university hospitals in north-eastern Italy: Trieste, Padua, Verona, and Modena-Reggio Emilia. During the period June 2022-August 2022, HCWs were surveyed for past COVID-19 infections, medical history, and any acute as well as post-COVID-19 symptoms.
