[A patient undergoing surgery for gastric cancer four weeks after insertion of a drug-eluting coronary stent].

We report a patient who underwent gastrectomy four weeks after a coronary stent insertion. A 79-year-old man suffering from unstable angina was transferred to our hospital and a sirolimus-eluting coronary stent was inserted into his right coronary artery. The day after receiving the coronary stent, the patient began vomitting bloody gastric fluid.

[Epidural infusion of low dose bupivacaine after combined spinal-epidural anesthesia using needle through needle method provided no analgesic effect on postoperative pain after caesarian section].

Background: In order to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of low dose epidural bupivacaine infusion with and without morphine after caesarean section we performed combined spinal-epidural anesthesia (CSEA) using needle through needle method. Three different epidural analgesic regimens were compared retrospectively.

Methods: The number of analgesic use during 24 hours after operation was compared.

[A case of anaphylactic shock due to an antibiotic used preoperatively].

We report a case of an anaphylactic reaction due to a preoperatively administered antibiotic. A 72-year-old man scheduled to undergo cholecystectomy and choledocholithotomy received a cefoperazone infusion after being turned to a lateral position for insertion of an epidural catheter. Immediately after local injection of lidocaine, he, complained of inguinal itching.

Background: The effect of glucose on local anesthetic-induced neural damage has not been fully studied. We examined the effect of glucose on hemolysis induced by local anesthetics.

Methods: The mean EC50 values (the local anesthetic level that causes destruction of half of the red blood cells in vitro) of lidocaine HCl, tetracaine HCl and dibucaine HCl were determined with 0% and 7.

[Ionic strength influences hemolytic action of dibucaine hydrochloride].

Background: Little is known about effect of ionic strength on local anesthetic toxicity. Using human erythrocytes, hemolytic action of dibucaine in solutions of various ionic strength was investigated.

Methods: The critical micellar concentration (CMC) of dibucaine and the dibucaine level that causes destruction of half of the red blood cells in vitro (EC50 value) were determined in solutions of various ionic strength.

[A comparative study of membrane destructive action of dibucaine HCl and bupivacaine HCl].

Membrane destructive action of dibucaine HCl and bupivacaine HCl was examined in vitro using red blood cells. The EC50 value (local anesthetic concentration needed to destroy half of red blood cells in vitro) of each local anesthetic was determined at pH 5.0, 6.

[Methods of anesthesia in canine heart-lung transplants].

Hypothermia has many valuable merits compared with under cardiopulmonary bypass using pump oxygenator, as known. But, on the contrary, it has some weak points, such as, long time required for cooling and rewarming. We have developed the device for rapid cooling and rewarming by using jet water blows.

[Postoperative recurrence of the patients with the stage I, II non small cell lung cancer].

The study population consisted of 42 patients with squamous cell carcinoma and 46 patients with adenocarcinoma of stage I, 12 patients with squamous cell carcinoma and 7 patients with adenocarcinoma of stage II lung cancer who underwent curative surgical resection. Local recurrence and metastasis was not significant in both histological types in stage I, II. Lung and bone metastasis was dominant in the both cases of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and brain metastasis in the cases of adenocarcinoma.

Computed tomography for the assessment of blunt abdominal trauma.

Computed tomography (CT) was carried out on 70 patients with blunt abdominal trauma. Damage to the abdominal organs was clearly demonstrated by CT. The positive rates of CT in traumatic lesions were higher than those of ultrasound (US).

Pseudoaneurysm of the celiac artery demonstrated by radionuclide angiography.

The usefulness of radionuclide angiography in patients with vascular occlusion or aneurysm is well documented. In this paper, a rare case of pseudoaneurysm of the celiac artery demonstrated by radionuclide angiography is reported.
