Background: Many patients who get discharged from the intensive care unit experience physical dysfunction that persists even after discharge. Physical dysfunction is associated with skeletal muscle atrophy and accompanying intensive care unit-acquired weakness in the early stages of intensive care unit admission, and early diagnosis and prevention with early mobilization are crucial. However, the amount of physical activity required for early mobilization remains controversial in critically ill patients.

Objective: Middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms are difficult to treat with coil embolization (CE) due to their location and shape, but the number of CE-treated MCA has gradually increased as treatment techniques have improved. However, the outcomes of CE for ruptured MCA aneurysms are poorly understood. This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of CE for ruptured MCA aneurysms.

HM-SCREEN-Japan is a multicenter collaborative project in Japan to evaluate the clinical utility of a cancer genome panel in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The HM-SCREEN-JAPAN02 study used the Amoy Myeloid Panel with the HANDLE system, which enables efficient and rapid sequencing, as the genomic testing kit. The Amoy Myeloid Panel targets 53 genes with established clinical significance or high prevalence.

We characterized the safety and efficacy of the bispecific antibody teclistamab in Japanese patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). Patients were pretreated with a proteasome inhibitor (PI), immunomodulatory drug (IMiD), and anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody (mAb). The primary endpoint was frequency and type of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) in phase 1, and overall response rate (ORR; ≥ partial response [PR]) in phase 2.

Background: This study aimed to investigate prognostic factors for predicting the survival of patients with extensive-disease-stage small-cell lung cancer treated with chemoimmunotherapy.
Methods: Patients were classified according to overall survival (OS): favorable corresponded to an OS ≥ 24 months, moderate corresponded to an OS of 6-24 months, and poor corresponded to an OS < 6 months. Multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate prognostic factors.

Background: Anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibodies (CGRP mAbs) are clinically effective in preventing the migraine attacks, photophobia, and migraine auras associated with headaches. However, no study has yet investigated the effectiveness of CGRP mAbs in preventing migraine aura without headache.
Case Report: A female patient of 49 years old presented with a long history (since age 10) of photosensitivity and typical migraine auras without a headache.

Infections associated with percutaneous pinning of the fingers occur in a certain percentage of cases; however, osteomyelitis rarely leads to more severe suppurative arthritis of the hand. A 26-year-old woman presented with scapholunate dissociation and underwent percutaneous pinning. Although some signs of infection were found around the pin site at five weeks, the pins were removed seven weeks postoperatively.

Background: There is a need to better understand ulcerative colitis (UC) patient and healthcare provider (HCP) treatment satisfaction, acceptability, and preferences.
Methods: Two international, cross-sectional, web-based surveys were conducted among participants of a phase 3 mirikizumab study (NCT03519945). The questions captured moderate-to-severe UC patients' experience, HCPs' perception of patients' experience, and HCPs' own experience with mirikizumab administration through intravenous (IV) infusions and subcutaneous (SC) injections.

Preoperative planning is important for the osteosynthesis of distal radius fractures. Challenges arise for patients presenting with bilateral wrist injuries or a history of contralateral wrist injuries. In such cases, the estimation of the distal radius morphology and the determination of the plate size from the preoperative physical characteristics could prove beneficial.

Background And Objectives: Estimating heterogeneous treatment effects (HTEs) in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) has received substantial attention recently. This has led to the development of several statistical and machine learning (ML) algorithms to assess HTEs through identifying individualized treatment effects. However, a comprehensive review of these algorithms is lacking.

Background: Helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) have become widespread around the world. However, previous studies of the influence of HEMS on mortality were limited to adult patients only and showed inconsistent and heterogeneous results. This study aimed to examine the association between HEMS and mortality among pediatric emergencies compared to ground emergency medical service (GEMS).

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is often characterized by vascular disorders related to vessel vulnerability that can lead to unfavorable outcomes. Here, we describe a case of NF-1 complicated with a massive subcutaneous hematoma posing a risk of visual impairment for which rapid decompression and a subsequent less invasive approach result in a favorable outcome.
Case Description: A 40-year-old woman with NF-1 presented with a massive left subcutaneous temporal hematoma following a mild head contusion.

Different from intrabronchial mucus accumulation in bronchiectasis caused by chronic inflammation, mucoid impactions are observed in patients with allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) and bronchial asthma. A 62-year-old man was referred to our hospital for treatment of bronchial asthma. Five years ago, he had a coronary stent insertion for myocardial infarction and was diagnosed with bronchial asthma.

Background/aim: For patients treated with osimertinib as first-line therapy, there have been no studies comparing both progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) according to performance status (PS). Furthermore, no studies have examined differences in baseline genetic abnormalities between patients with poor and good PS. Therefore, we aimed to investigate differences in baseline genetic abnormalities and treatment effects between patients with poor and good PS who received osimertinib as the primary treatment.

The standard of care for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) involves tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), which suppress tyrosine kinase activity of BCR::ABL1. Hochhaus et al. reported that asciminib, a BCR::ABL1 inhibitor specifically targeting the ABL myristoyl pocket, showed superior efficacy and favorable safety compared with TKIs in the phase 3 ASC4FIRST trial in patients with newly diagnosed chronic-phase CML.

The combined use of lasmiditan and triptan is unexplored in medical literature. This study aimed to investigate whether the intake of lasmiditan following triptan improves migraine pain. Following triptan intake, if headache relief was less than 50% at 1 h, patients took 50 mg of lasmiditan within 2 h of migraine onset.
