Protective effect of nebivolol on rat ovary exposed to deltamethrin toxicity.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the antioxidant activity of nebivolol against possible damage to the ovarian tissue due to the application of deltamethrin as a toxic agent, by evaluating histopathological proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) signal molecules immunohistochemically.

Methods: The animals were divided into three groups as control, deltamethrin and deltamethrin + nebivolol groups. Vaginal smears were taken after the animals were mated and detected on the first day of pregnancy.

Biallelic variants in HECT E3 paralogs, HECTD4 and UBE3C, encoding ubiquitin ligases cause neurodevelopmental disorders that overlap with Angelman syndrome.

Purpose: Pathogenic variants in genes encoding ubiquitin E3 ligases are known to cause neurodevelopmental syndromes. Additional neurodevelopmental disorders associated with the other genes encoding E3 ligases are yet to be identified.

Methods: Chromosomal analysis and exome sequencing were used to identify the genetic causes in 10 patients from 7 unrelated families with syndromic neurodevelopmental, seizure, and movement disorders and neurobehavioral phenotypes.

Genotype of congenital adrenal hyperplasia patients with testicular adrenal rest tumor.

Unlabelled: Testicular adrenal rest tumor (TART) is one of the important complications that can cause infertility in male patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and should therefore be diagnosed and treated at an early age. The factors that result in TART in CAH have not been completely understood. The aim of this study is to evaluate the genotype-phenotype correlation in CAH patients with TART.

Cacao Butter as Prophylaxis for Nipple Problems: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Study.

Cacao butter is a type of oil extracted from the fruit of the Theobroma Cacao plant. This study was conducted to compare the use of breast milk and cacao butter for the prevention of nipple problems in the early postpartum period. This randomized controlled study involved 72 participants, who were randomized into the cacao and mother's milk groups.

Biomechanical and Viscoelastic Properties of the Achilles Tendon and Plantar Fascia in Pregnant Women with Pelvic Girdle Pain: A Case-Control Study.

This cross-sectional study examined the biomechanical and viscoelastic properties of the Achilles tendon (AT) and plantar fascia (PF) and analyzed their relationship in pregnant women with pelvic girdle pain (PGP). The study was conducted in a public hospital between January and May 2021. Forty-four pregnant women (PGP+, n: 22; PGP-, n: 22) and 21 non-pregnant women were included.

The effect of gestational diabetes mellitus on occurrence of the pelvic girdle pain and symptom severity in pregnant women.

The primary objective of this study was to examine the effect of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on pelvic girdle pain (PGP) occurrence and symptom severity. Pregnant women who were with/without GDM, 20-40 years of age, and also in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy were included in the study. PGP provocation tests were administered to 187 pregnant women to determine the presence and severity of PGP.

Evaluation of Pregnancy, Delivery, and Postpartum Effectiveness of Maternity School Trainings Organized Based on the Guideline of Ministry of Health in Turkey: A Comparative Study.

Background: There are uncertainties and contradictions in the literature about the effectiveness of maternity schools. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of prenatal trainings performed in an institutional and disciplined manner.

Methods: This study was prospectively conducted between 2018 and 2019, and 245 primiparous pregnant women who gave birth in our hospital were examined.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine Attitudes of Gynecologic Patients: Experience in a Tertiary Clinic.

Objective:  To evaluate the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding complementary and alternative medicine methods of patients who were admitted to gynecology outpatient clinics.

Methods:  In the present survey, a questionnaire on complementary and alternative medicine practices was applied on 1,000 women (ages between 18 and 83 years old) who were admitted to the gynecology outpatient clinic of a tertiary maternity hospital. Demographic features and knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors about these methods were inquired in face-to-face interviews.

Can Serum Vitamin B12 and Folate Levels Predict HPV Penetration in Patients with ASCUS?

In the process of progression to cancer from atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS), mostly Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible. Additionally, patients with cell cycle disorders are thought to be at risk. The aim of this prospective cohort trial was to analyze the association between presence of ASCUS and HPV persistence with folate and vitamin B12 levels.

Novel Zinc Finger Protein Gene 469 (ZNF469) Variants in Advanced Keratoconus.

Purpose: Common polymorphic variants upstream of Zinc finger protein gene 469 (ZNF469) have been associated with central corneal thickness. Rare ZNF469 variants have been shown in keratoconus patients. The aim of the current study was to investigate the frequency of ZNF 469 gene variants in rapidly progressive advance keratoconus patients who underwent corneal transplant surgery by the age of 30, compared to their frequency in the normal Turkish population.

Occurrence of intraocular air bubbles during intravitreal injections for retinopathy of prematurity.

This study aims to present five cases with retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) who were found to have intraocular air bubbles after intravitreal injection (IVI) treatment. The medical records of 148 infants who underwent IVI for ROP were retrospectively reviewed and the ones who demonstrated post-injection intraocular air bubble formation were recruited. Of the 148 patients (31 babies received ranibizumab, 20 babies received aflibercept, 97 babies received bevacizumab), five were found to have intraocular air bubbles right after the IVI.

Intravitreal bevacizumab monotherapy for type-1 prethreshold, threshold, and aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity - 27 month follow-up results from Turkey.

Purpose: To study the efficacy of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) injection as a single treatment for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Methods: This was a prospective interventional case series study performed in a clinical practice setting; a total of 122 patients including prethreshold (type 1) (n  = 79, 152 eyes, six unilateral), threshold (n = 12, 24 eyes), and aggressive posterior (APROP) (n = 31, 62 eyes); cases were included without any randomization or masking. A total of 253 IVB injections, 238 in the first session, 11 in the second session, and four in the third session were performed, and followed up for a mean of 89.
