Multi-state metastability in neuroimaging signals reflects the brain's flexibility to transition between network configurations in response to changing environments or tasks. We modeled these dynamics with a Kuramoto network of 90 nodes oscillating at an intrinsic frequency of 40 Hz, interconnected using human brain structural connectivity strengths and delays. We simulated this model for 30 min to generate multi-state metastability.

Exercise is an important physiological activity with several health benefits. In the setting of ischemic heart disease (IHD), the view toward exercise has greatly evolved throughout the years, concurrently to several major advances in the management of this complex entity. Currently, exercise training has broad applications across the IHD continuum as a powerful tool in its overall management, being a core component of comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programs.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a combined surgical approach for treating complex patellofemoral instability. This approach combines four procedures: medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction with the quasi-anatomic technique, lateral retinaculum release, anteromedialization and distalization of tibial tuberosity and patellar/femoral mosaicplasty.
Material And Methods: Between August and November 2021, we enrolled 27 patients in the study (21 females, 6 males, average age 28.

Introduction: Assessing the integrity of the posterior ligament complex (PLC), as a key element in the characterization of an unstable Thoracolumbar fracture (TLF), is challenging, but crucial in the choice of treatment.
Research Question: How to create a reproducible score using combined parameters of Computed Tomography (CT) to predict nonobvious PLC injury. How CT parameters relate with PLC status.

International differences in the incidence of many cancer types indicate the existence of carcinogen exposures that have not yet been identified by conventional epidemiology make a substantial contribution to cancer burden. In clear cell renal cell carcinoma, obesity, hypertension and tobacco smoking are risk factors, but they do not explain the geographical variation in its incidence. Underlying causes can be inferred by sequencing the genomes of cancers from populations with different incidence rates and detecting differences in patterns of somatic mutations.

Research into innovative food safety technologies has led to the development of smart packaging with embedded chemical sensors that can monitor food quality throughout the supply chain. Thermochromic materials (TM), which are able to dynamically change colour in response to temperature fluctuations, have proven to be reliable indicators of food quality in certain environments. Natural colourants such as curcumin are becoming increasingly popular for smart packaging due to their low toxicity, environmental friendliness and ability to change colour.

MicroRNA (miRNA) modulation has been identified as a promising strategy for improving the response of human prostate cancer (PCa) to radiotherapy (RT). Studies have shown that mimics or inhibitors of miRNAs could modulate the sensitivity of PCa cells to RT. In addition, pegylated gold nanoparticles have been studied as a therapeutic approach to treat PCa cells and/or vehicles for carrying miRNAs to the inside of cells.

Importance: Derotational high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a surgical intervention for correcting rotational malalignments in the lower limb, which may contribute to anterior knee pain (AKP) and/or patellofemoral instability (PFI). This surgical technique is not yet widely implemented and requires a systematic evaluation of its outcomes.
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of derotational HTO in correcting rotational malalignments of the lower limb in patients with AKP and/or PFI through radiological, clinical, and patient-reported outcome measures.

Purpose: Patellofemoral instability (PFI) is a common condition that can be caused from multiple factors, including lower limb rotational malalignments. Determining precise criteria for performing corrective torsional osteotomy can be a daunting task due to the lack of consensus on normal and excessive values and the limited evidence-based data in the postoperative results. The purpose was to assess the clinical, functional and imaging outcomes following derotational distal femoral osteotomy (DDFO) in patients with PFI and/or anterior knee pain (AKP) associated with lower limb rotational malalignments.

Large-scale biorepositories and databases are essential to generate equitable, effective, and sustainable advances in cancer prevention, early detection, cancer therapy, cancer care, and surveillance. The Mutographs project has created a large genomic dataset and biorepository of over 7,800 cancer cases from 30 countries across five continents with extensive demographic, lifestyle, environmental, and clinical information. Whole-genome sequencing is being finalized for over 4,000 cases, with the primary goal of understanding the causes of cancer at eight anatomic sites.

Synchrony in the multi-person context of systemic therapy is a complex and understudied phenomenon. We analyzed respiratory and electrodermal synchronies within a couple therapy system with two therapists to determine whether dyadic subsystems between each client and therapist synchronized differently. We also studied synchrony in reflection periods, in which the therapists discussed the therapy process with clients listening.

The examination of hyperelastic materials' behavior, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), is crucial for applications in areas as biomedicine and electronics. However, the limitations of hyperelastic models for specific stress scenarios, with stress concentration, are not well explored on the literature. To address this, firstly, three constitutive models were evaluated (Neo-Hookean, Mooney-Rivlin, and Ogden) using numerical simulations and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) analysis during a uniaxial tensile test.

The cardiovascular response to exercise has long been a focus of interest. Over a century ago, the first descriptions of electrocardiographic changes occurring during exercise highlighted the possible relevance of this dynamic assessment. In this background, the inception of the Bruce protocol circa 60 years ago allowed for a major leap in this field by providing a standardized framework with which to address this issue, by means of an integrated and structured methodology.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common dementia type and a leading cause of death and disability in the elderly. Diagnosis is expensive and invasive, urging the development of new, affordable, and less invasive diagnostic tools. The identification of changes in the expression of non-coding RNAs prompts the development of diagnostic tools to detect disease-specific blood biomarkers.

Nonetheless, research suggests that prison sentences have a null or a criminogenic effect on recidivism and a critical impact on inmates' mental health, negatively interfering with their successful reintegration into society and recidivism. Prevalence rates of mental health disorders among individuals who commit crimes are high, but little is known about how incarceration perpetuates and/or worsens mental health symptoms.

Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common joint disorder worldwide, is characterized by progressive degeneration of articular and periarticular structures, leading to physical and emotional impairments that greatly affect the quality of life of patients. Unfortunately, no therapy has been able to halt the progression of the disease. Owing to the complexity of OA, most animal models are only able to mimic a specific stage or feature of the human disorder.

STEAP1 is a cell surface protein of the STEAP family whose main function focuses on intercellular communication and cell growth. STEAP1 is considered a promising putative biomarker and a candidate target for prostate cancer treatment. For specific and selective detection of STEAP1, a molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) was developed on a screen-printed electrode (C-SPE) whose surface was modified with a nanocomposite based on carbon nanotubes decorated with dendritic platinum nanoparticles (CNTs- PAH /Pt).
