In this project, we conducted micro-beam sensitivity mapping using the Diamond Light Source (DLS) synchrotron. We fabricated three samples with distinct metal contacts: Platinum (HPS-Pt) and Aluminium/Platinum (HPS-Al/Pt) on high-quality single crystal CVD diamond, and Platinum (VS-Pt) on lower purity single crystal CVD diamond. Our objective was to identify the most suitable sample for synchrotron measurements, particularly focusing on the lower purity sample due to its unique characteristics, such as thin nitrogen lines and substrate area.

We present the first comprehensive study for signal growth in transmission lines (TL) with purely time-modulated characteristic impedance (infinite superluminality). This study pioneers the investigation into the effects of varying the cell's electrical length and the impact of loss on momentum bandgaps and amplification levels. It also thoroughly examines how time-modulated transmission line truncation by a static load influences the sensitivity of amplification gain to the relative phase between the incoming signal and modulation, comparing these findings with the case of parametric amplification.

This research investigates a novel nanocomposite material composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and nickel-5,15-bisdodecylporphyrin (Ni-BDP) nanoparticles for the effective removal of methyl orange (MO), a harmful synthetic dye, from water. The structure and composition of the synthesized rGO/Ni-BDP nanocomposite were characterized using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Raman spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The study demonstrates the material's efficacy as both a catalyst and adsorbent for MO removal.

In this study, the microstructure and elemental analysis of aluminum-copper alloy type-2024, Al-2024, and aluminum-manganese alloy type-3003, Al-3003, have been investigated by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) detector. Experimental and theoretical radiation shielding studies were performed to assess the radiation shielding capabilities of the studied alloys. Considering the radiation shielding theoretical assessment, some reliable software tools were used, such as Phy-X/PSD, MCNP5, NXCom, and MRCsC.

The widespread use of reinforced concrete continues to face challenges, particularly in mitigating alkali-silica reaction (ASR), due to its detrimental effects on concrete strength and durability. This paper investigates the effectiveness of using binary supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in mitigating ASR by incorporating metakaolin (MK) and waste glass powder (GP) as partial replacements for cement. Additionally, the potential of a new cement product, "NewCem Plus" (NCM), along with the use of basalt fibers and lithium, was evaluated through a 14-day accelerated mortar bar test following the ASTM C1260.

Halophilic archaea are a unique group of microorganisms that thrive in high-salt environments, exhibiting remarkable adaptations to survive extreme conditions. Archaeological wood and El-Hamra Lake serve as a substrate for a diverse range of microorganisms, including archaea, although the exact role of archaea in archaeological wood biodeterioration remains unclear. The morphological and chemical characterizations of archaeological wood were evaluated using FTIR, SEM, and EDX.

Water pollution and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) have become two global threats; 80% of diseases and 50% of child deaths are due to poor water quality. In this study, hydrothermal processing was employed to manufacture manganese oxide nanorods. Silver dopant was deposited on the surface of manganese oxide.

Oxygen content is crucial for the functioning of human body organs, as it plays a vital role in cellular respiration, which generates energy necessary for life-sustaining functions. The absence of adequate oxygen leads to cellular dysfunction and eventual organismal death due to energy deprivation. In this study, we designed a rapid, non-invasive, and non-contact custom hyperspectral imaging system to assess blood perfusion in arteries, capillaries, and veins across various human organs, including the arm, eye, and leg.

Zinc ferrite nanoparticles (ZnF NPs) were synthesized by a green method using Psidium guava Leaves extract and characterized via structural and optical properties. The surface of ZnF NPs was stabilized with citric acid (CA) by a direct addition method to obtain (ZnF-CA NPs), and then lipase (LP) enzyme was immobilized on ZnF-CA NPs to obtain a modified ZnF-CA-LP nanocomposite (NCs). The prepared sample's photocatalytic activity against Methylene blue dye (MB) was determined.

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) require accurate navigation, but the reliability of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) can be degraded by signal blockage and multipath interference in urban areas. Therefore, a navigation system that integrates a calibrated Reduced Inertial Sensors System (RISS) with GNSS is proposed. The system employs a machine-learning-based Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) as a novel calibration technique to improve the accuracy and reliability of the RISS.

Novel anion-exchange electrospun fiber membranes of polycaprolactone doped with the cationic, cross-linked colesevelam polymer are reported. The weight fraction of cross-linked cationic colesevelam polymer, as the active phase within the PCL matrix, can readily be controlled in the synthesis of the mixed-matrix fibers (Cole@PCL), enabling optimization of the ion-exchange properties of the resulted membranes. This approach enabled adaptation of anion-exchange resins to a permeable, flexible membrane form, which is a significant advancement toward futuristic water treatment applications, demonstrated herein for the removal of trace contaminants, including nitrates and phosphates, as well as anionic dyes.

The current study assessed two concrete mixes prepared using dolomite and barite/limonite aggregates to shield against both energetic photons and neutrons. After that, a designed mix which comprised barite/goethite aggregates plus fine-powdered boron carbide additive, was proposed to improve the overall radiation shielding properties and in the same time, doesn't compromise or even improve the physic-mechanical properties of the mature concrete. The assessment started first with intensive experimental investigations to investigate the prepared mixes' shielding capabilities against both γ-rays and fast neutrons.
