Background: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common tumors in men, regardless of ethnicity and demographics. In many risk factors causing PCa, genes and viral infections are strong candidates for the development of prostate tumors. Indeed, tissue infections of PCa have been reported by the presence of several types of viruses including Human Papillomaviruses (HPV).

Introduction: Osteoid osteoma is a benign osteogenic tumour traditionally treated by surgical excision or percutaneous CT-guided procedures. We describe three cases of osteoid osteomas of which the locations were difficult to access, or for which the procedure was potentially unsafe, involving treatment with zoledronic acid infusions.
Case Description: We report here three male 28-to-31-year-old patients with no medical history who had osteoid osteomas located at the second cervical vertebra, the femoral head, and the third lumbar vertebra respectively.

Background: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation status is of a major clinical significance in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) management, as it guides therapeutic decision making to target patients for a better response to therapy. This implicates the introduction of EGFR mutation analysis as the standard of care for Moroccan NSCLC patients, which in itself entails the implementation of targeted methods for routine EGFR mutation analysis in our laboratories. In this study, we aimed to present 2 targeted methods for EGFR mutation identification and to determine the prevalence and spectrum of EGFR mutations in NSCLC Moroccan patients.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors (VEGFR1 and VEGFR2) are the most important tissue factors involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the promoter mutational status of VEGFA and the expression levels of VEGFA, VEGFR1, and VEGFR2 in bladder cancer (BC) tissues and to correlate the results with the clinical-pathological parameters of BC patients. A total of 70 BC patients were recruited at the Urology Department of the Mohammed V Military Training Hospital in Rabat, Morocco.

The Mazabraud syndrome is a rare form of bone fibrous dysplasia associated with intramuscular myxomas. The McCune-Albright syndrome is characterized by the association of dysplasia fibrous bone to one or more extra-osseous manifestations, including café-au-lait skin spots and endocrine disturbances. Here, we report on a new case of a 52-year-old man with sacroiliac polyostotic bone fibrous dysplasia associated with intramuscular myxomas of the left buttock and thigh and a café-au-lait skin spot.

Burn Treatment Center and COVID-19 ICU, Percy Military Teaching Hospital, Clamart, France.
Introduction: In case of COVID-19 related scarcity of critical care resources, an early French triage algorithm categorized critically ill patients by probability of survival based on medical history and severity, with four priority levels for initiation or continuation of critical care: P1 -high priority, P2 -intermediate priority, P3 -not needed, P4 -not appropriate. This retrospective multi-center study aimed to assess its classification performance and its ability to help saving lives under capacity saturation.
Methods: ICU patients admitted for severe COVID-19 without triage in spring 2020 were retrospectively included from three hospitals.

Background: The epidemiology of French military severe trauma patients injured during recent military operations remains poorly described, even if French operations, casualties sustained, and care rendered in a different trauma system are distinct from others. This study aimed at describing the characteristics of these patients upon arrival at hospital in France and during hospital stay.
Methods: This 5-year retrospective cohort study included all French military servicemen injured during military operations and admitted to the intensive care unit.

Background: Since its outbreak in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has diverted resources from non-urgent and elective procedures, leading to diagnosis and treatment delays, with an increased number of neoplasms at advanced stages worldwide. The aims of this study were to quantify the reduction in surgical activity for indeterminate thyroid nodules during the COVID-19 pandemic; and to evaluate whether delays in surgery led to an increased occurrence of aggressive tumours.
Methods: In this retrospective, international, cross-sectional study, centres were invited to participate in June 22, 2022; each centre joining the study was asked to provide data from medical records on all surgical thyroidectomies consecutively performed from Jan 1, 2019, to Dec 31, 2021.

Background: Timely access to the operating room for emergency general surgery (EGS) indications remains a challenge across the globe, largely driven by operating room availability and staffing constraints. The "timing in acute care surgery" (TACS) classification was previously published to introduce a new tool to triage the timely and appropriate access of EGS patients to the operating room. However, the clinical and operational effectiveness of the TACS classification has not been investigated in subsequent validation studies.

Background: Identifying patients at risk of secondary neurologic deterioration (SND) after moderate traumatic brain injury (moTBI) is a challenge, as such patients will need specific care. No simple scoring system has been evaluated to date. This study aimed to determine clinical and radiological factors associated with SND after moTBI and to propose a triage score.

Purpose: We want to evaluate the feasibility of transferring a motor branch of the anterior tibial muscle (ATM) to the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) to evaluate this procedure in patients with spastic equinovarus foot (EVF) following post-stroke hemiplegia.
Methods: Ten cadaveric dissections from five fresh frozen human cadavers were performed to establish the anatomic feasibility of transferring a motor branch of the deep peroneal nerve, usually destinated to the ATM, to the branch of the EDL to manage spastic EVF.
Results: Six cases (60%) presented three branches destinated to the ATM, one case (10%) presented give branches, and three cases (30%) had four branches.

During World War I, 25% of penetrating injuries were in the cephalic region. Major Henri Brodier described his surgical techniques in a book in which he reported every consecutive penetrating brain injury (PBI) that he operated on from August 1914 to July 1916. The aim was to collate his data and discuss significant differences in management between soldiers who survived and those who died.

Background: Major bleeding is the leading cause of preventable mortality among trauma patients. Several studies have recently shown that prehospital plasma transfusion improves the outcomes of severely injured patients. Although no consensus has been reached, prehospital transfusion is regularly considered to reduce avoidable mortality.
