Background: Cannulation of a central vein is crucial in patients for hemodynamic management and when insertion of a peripheral line is not possible. The internal jugular vein is the preferred access site; however, in the case of not being accessible, the second cannulation site of choice is still unclear. The study aimed to access the feasibility of external jugular vein cannulation versus internal jugular vein cannulation in terms of success, cannulation time, number of attempts and complications.

Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disorder characterized by the intra-alveolar accumulation of surfactant due to macrophage dysfunction or the production of abnormal surfactant. Diagnosis is usually confirmed by lung biopsy either bronchoscopically or by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. Bronchoscopic lung cryobiopsy (BLC) is increasingly being utilized for the histopathological diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases; however, it has rarely been reported for PAP.

Spontaneous retroperitoneal haematoma (SRH) can be a life-threatening emergency presenting with hypovolaemic shock. SRH has been rarely reported with May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) where it occurs due to rupture of the iliac vein or venous collaterals. We report a case of MTS that presented with deep venous thrombosis of the left lower limb complicated by bilateral pulmonary embolism (PE) and a large pelvic haematoma.

Background: The ideal anaesthetic technique for management of paediatric patients scheduled to undergo cardiac catheterisation is still not standardised.
Aim: To compare the effects of ketamine-propofol and ketamine-dexmedetomidine combinations on hemodynamic parameters and recovery time in paediatric patients undergoing minor procedures and cardiac catheterisation under sedation for various congenital heart diseases.
Material And Methods: 60 children of either sex undergoing cardiac catheterisation were randomly assigned into two groups Dexmedetomidine-ketamine group (DK) and Propofol-ketamine (PK) of 30 patients each.

Background: The limitations of the conventional methods for diagnosing tuberculosis (TB) have spurred multi-faceted research activities throughout the world. This study aims to explore the levels of adenosine deaminase (ADA) and interleukins in pleural effusion of tuberculous, malignant, and miscellaneous origin for differential diagnosis of tubercular and non-tubercular effusion.
Method: Adenosine deaminase was estimated by kinetic method employing xanthine oxidase while interleukins were measured using commercially available ELISA kits in pleural fluids of tubercular and non-tubercular origin.
