This review examines the advancements in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques and their pivotal role in diagnosing and managing gliomas, the most prevalent primary brain tumors. The paper underscores the importance of integrating modern MRI modalities, such as diffusion-weighted imaging and perfusion MRI, which are essential for assessing glioma malignancy and predicting tumor behavior. Special attention is given to the 2021 WHO Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System, emphasizing the integration of molecular diagnostics in glioma classification, significantly impacting treatment decisions.

The general condition of implantology patients is crucial when considering the long- and short-term survival of dental implants. The aim of the research was to evaluate the correlation between the new corticalization index (CI) and patients' condition, and its impact on marginal bone loss (MBL) leading to implant failure, using only radiographic (RTG) images on a pixel level. Bone near the dental implant neck was examined, and texture features were analyzed.

Objective: Aim: To identify patients at risk of AKI with severe COVID-19 and to guide management strategies according to national and global scientific data for improving kidney-related outcomes.
Patients And Methods: Materials and Methods: We conducted retrospective study case-control analysing cases of hospitalisation patients with COVID-19 with or without AKI during hospital stay.
Results: Results: In the study, we found that there was a positive correlation between AKI and respiratory insufficiency (0,513 - moderate, p<0,0001), moderate in the case of AKI grade 2 (0.

Unlabelled: Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (euDKA) is a rare but severe metabolic complication of diabetes mellitus characterised by elevated anion gap metabolic acidosis despite normal or mildly elevated blood glucose levels. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have emerged as effective antidiabetic medications, yet their use is associated with an increased risk of euDKA, especially when coupled with insulin dose reduction. We present the case of a 50-year-old male with a 20-year history of diabetes mellitus, initially managed with insulin and metformin, who developed euDKA following the introduction of empagliflozin and sitagliptin alongside a reduction in insulin therapy.

A retrospective study at the 4th Military Clinical Hospital in Wroclaw, Poland, assessed PCR testing alongside blood cultures to guide antimicrobial therapy decisions in hospitalized patients, to determine how much time the results of the molecular tests preceded conventional methods. Among 118 patients, (37%) and (21%) were the most common bloodstream infection agents. Blood cultures utilized the BacT/ALERT 3D system, and molecular diagnostics were conducted using the FilmArray platform with the BIOFIRE BCID2 panel.

The new Radiological Corticalization Index (CI) is an indicator that describes bone remodeling near the dental implant's neck at the pixel level and is not visible to the naked eye. The aim of this research was to evaluate the correlation between the CI and bone remodeling using only radiographic (RTG) images. RTG samples were divided into groups depending on prosthetic restoration; the implant neck area around dental implants was examined, and texture features of the RTG images were analyzed.

The study investigates molecular changes in the lumbosacral (L/S) spine's yellow ligamentum flavum during degenerative stenosis, focusing on the role of transforming growth factor beta 1-3 (TGF-β-1-3). Sixty patients with degenerative stenosis and sixty control participants underwent molecular analysis using real-time quantitative reverse transcription reaction technique (RTqPCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Western blot, and immunohistochemical analysis (IHC). At the mRNA level, study samples showed reduced expression of and , while increased by only 4%.

Background: During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, in patients treated for SARS-CoV-2 infection, infections with the bacteria producing New Delhi metallo-B-lactamase (NDM) carbapenemase in the USA, Brazil, Mexico, and Italy were observed, especially in intensive care units (ICUs). This study aimed to assess the impact of NDM infection and other bacterial infections on mortality in patients treated in ICUs due to COVID-19.
Methods: The 160 patients who qualified for the study were hospitalized in ICUs due to COVID-19.

Background: Low-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma (LGMS) is an extremely rare tumor characterized by the malignant proliferation of myofibroblasts. LGMS most commonly develops in adults, predominantly in males, in the head and neck region, oral cavity, especially on the tongue, mandible, and larynx. This article presents 2 cases of LGMS localized to the maxillary sinus and provides an overview of the available literature.

Background: Due to the growing resistance to routinely used antibiotics, the search for new antibiotics or their combinations with effective inhibitors against multidrug-resistant microorganisms is ongoing. In our study, we assessed the drug susceptibility of strains producing New Delhi metallo-β-lactamases (NDM) to antibiotics included in the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) recommendations.
Methods: A total of 60 strains of NDM-producing were obtained from different patients hospitalized at the 4th Military Hospital in Wroclaw between 2019 and 2022 and subjected to drug susceptibility to selected antibiotics, including the effects of drug combinations.

The immunotropic effects of aldosterone might play a role in COVID-19, as SARS-CoV-2 reportedly uses angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptors as an entry point into cells. Aldosterone function is closely linked to its action on mineralocorticoid receptors in kidneys; it increases the renal retention of sodium and the excretion of potassium, which increases blood pressure. Despite the large number of studies examining the effect of Ang-II and its blockers on the course of COVID-19 infection, there is still uncertainty about the role of aldosterone.

Intellectual disability with speech delay and behavioural abnormalities, as well as hypotonia, seizures, feeding difficulties and craniofacial dysmorphism, are the main symptoms associated with pathogenic variants of the gene. The range of clinical manifestations of the ZMYND phenotype is constantly being expanded by new cases described in the literature. Here, we present two previously unreported paediatric patients with neurodevelopmental challenges, who were diagnosed with missense variants in the gene.
