Purpose: Overlapping genes are involved with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and DNA repair pathways. Therefore, we hypothesised that patients with a high polygenic risk score (PRS) for RA will have an increased risk of radiotherapy (RT) toxicity given the involvement of DNA repair.
Methods: Primary analysis was performed on 1494 prostate cancer, 483 lung cancer and 1820 breast cancer patients assessed for development of RT toxicity in the REQUITE study.

Involvement of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) has been increasingly reported, affecting up to 87% of cases. This involvement generally occurs after the diagnosis of JIA has been established; however, in the authors' cases, as in a few others documented in the literature, patients presented with isolated TMJ arthritis as the sole joint involvement. The authors performed a narrative literature review on TMJ involvement in JIA and reported 2 cases that presented with isolated TMJ arthritis as the initial manifestation of JIA.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is a highly lethal and often overlooked malignancy increasingly affecting young adults. This study quantified the global proportion of GBC cases attributable to 10 key modifiable risk factors, employing Monte Carlo simulations and estimates from field-wide systematic review and meta-analysis. Approximately three-quarters of global GBC cases are attributable to key modifiable factors (74.

Aim: Complete mesocolic excision (CME) is an oncologically driven technique for treating right colon cancer. While laparoscopic CME is technically demanding and has been associated with more complications, the robotic approach might reduce morbidity. The aim of this study was to assess the safety of stepwise implementation of robotic CME.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have emerged as a transformative approach in cancer therapy by enhancing tumor targeting and minimizing systemic toxicity compared to traditional chemotherapy. Initially developed with chemotherapy agents as payloads, ADCs have now incorporated alternative payloads, such as immune-stimulating agents, natural toxins, and radionuclides, to improve therapeutic efficacy and specificity. A significant advancement in ADC technology is the integration of Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs), which enable the precise degradation of cellular targets involved in tumorigenesis.

Background: Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is an effective and safe downstaging therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the selection of sequential therapeutic modalities is still controversial.
Objectives: This study compared the effectiveness and safety of surgical resection (SR) and thermal ablation (TA) after patients with HCC underwent TACE downstaging therapy.

Introduction: Modeling multi-channel electroencephalographic (EEG) time-series is a challenging tasks, even for the most recent deep learning approaches. Particularly, in this work, we targeted our efforts to the high-fidelity reconstruction of this type of data, as this is of key relevance for several applications such as classification, anomaly detection, automatic labeling, and brain-computer interfaces.
Methods: We analyzed the most recent works finding that high-fidelity reconstruction is seriously challenged by the complex dynamics of the EEG signals and the large inter-subject variability.

Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death, has recently emerged as a crucial process in the pathogenesis of , the causal agent of the devastating rice blast disease, which causes billions of dollars in annual losses. This mini review explores the potential of antioxidants in suppressing ferroptosis in to promote sustainable rice production, with significant implications for global food security and nutrition. We critically analyze the current literature on the mechanisms of ferroptosis in , including iron metabolism and lipid peroxidation, the role of different antioxidants in inhibiting this cell death pathway, and the potential applications of antioxidant-based strategies for the management of rice blast disease.

Compositions of ethylene glycol dicyclopentenyl ether methacrylate (EGDEMA), a vegetable oil based alkyl methacrylate (C13MA), and furfuryl methacrylate (FMA) were terpolymerized for dual-crosslinked networks with tailored mechanical and thermal properties. Specifically, initiators for continuous activator regeneration (ICAR) atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) afforded materials with tailored glass transition temperature ( ) and incorporation of furan and norbornene functionalities within a single chain. The terpolymer with high furan and norbornene functionality (Ter2: = 0.

The vacuolar ATPase (v-ATPase) is essential for acidification of intracellular organelles, including synaptic vesicles. Its activity is controlled by cycles of association and dissociation of the ATP hydrolysis (V) and proton transport (V) multi-protein subunits. Mutations in genes coding for both v-ATPase subunits and TBC1D24 cause neurodevelopmental disorders with overlapping syndromes; therefore, it is important to investigate their potentially interrelated functions.

Background And Aims: Accumulating evidence indicates that reducing high blood pressure (BP) prevents dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Furthermore, although diabetes is a risk factor for dementia and MCI, there is uncertainty of the effect of intensive glucose control on these endpoints. This study aimed to determine the effects of BP-lowering (vs placebo) and intensive glucose-lowering (vs standard control) treatments according to baseline cognition and other characteristics on dementia and cognitive decline (CD) in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Background: Nursing care plans document the nursing process, displaying actions, and illustrating expected outcomes. Their integration into electronic health records (EHRs) is critical for accurate documentation, enhanced by standardized nursing terminologies that promote communication, critical reasoning, and patient safety through consistent language for information.
Objective: This study aimed to identify appropriate standardized nursing terminology tailored to the context of a Northern Italian Cancer Center and research facility for developing nursing care plans and starting their integration into institutional EHRs.

Introduction: High-resolution manometry (HRM) allows assessment of esophagogastric junction (EGJ) disruption. While type 3 EGJ predicts definitive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), type 2 EGJ is less clearly implicated in GERD pathogenesis. This study aimed to characterize physiologic findings in type 2 EGJ to determine if the HRM-based Milan Score can define GERD within type 2 EGJ.

The process of angiogenesis plays a pivotal role in skin regeneration, ensuring the provision of nutrients and oxygen to the nascent tissue, thanks to the formation of novel microvascular networks supporting functional tissue regeneration. Unfortunately, most of the current therapeutic approaches for skin regeneration lack vascularization, required to promote effective angiogenesis. Thus, tridimensional models, complemented with specific biochemical signals, can be a valuable tool to unravel the neovascularization mechanisms and develop novel clinical strategies.

Accurate methods for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are essential for noninvasive disease diagnosis, with breath analysis providing a simpler, user-friendly alternative to traditional diagnostic tools. However, challenges remain in low-temperature VOC solid-state sensors, especially concerning their selectivity and functionality at room temperature. Herein, we present key insights into optimizing multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/polyaniline (PANI) and ZnO nanocomposites for efficient, light-free selective acetone sensing.
