Mental health training in family medicine residencies: International curriculum overview.

Integration of mental health into primary care has become a global trend, and many countries have developed mental health training in primary care. However, systematic mental health training for family physicians is insufficient in Japan. The newly established Japan Primary Care Association Mental Health Committee surveyed the current status of mental health training curricula in family medicine residency internationally.

Concomitant splenic artery ligation has no preventive effect on left-sided portal hypertension following pancreaticoduodenectomy with the resection of the portal and superior mesenteric vein confluence for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.

Background: Left-sided portal hypertension (LSPH) caused by splenic vein (SV) division in pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) with portal vein (PV) resection remains challenging. The current study aimed to investigate the efficacy of splenic artery (SA) ligation in preventing LSPH.

Methods: One-hundred thirty patients who underwent PD with PV resection for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma were classified into SV and SA preservation (SVP, n = 30), SV resection and SA preservation (SVR, n = 59), and SV resection and SA ligation (SAL, n = 41).

Tenascin-C expression in renal biopsies from patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis and its relation to disease activity and prognosis.

Tenascin-C (TNC) is an extracellular matrix protein that is transiently expressed in close association with tissue remodeling in various organs. Expression of TNC in patients with tubulointerstitial nephritis (TIN) is not well-characterized. Using renal biopsy specimens from 25 patients with TIN and 8 patients with thin basement membrane disease (controls), we assessed immunohistochemical staining for TNC and investigated its relation with clinicopathologic data.

Transluminal stent-graft placements for the treatments of acute onset and chronic aortic dissections.

"Sho-saiko-to" (TJ-9) consists of 7 herbal components. In Japan, it is widely prescribed to patients with chronic viral liver disease. TJ-9 is known to suppress liver cancer development and possess macrobiotic effects, but its mode of action is not fully understood.
