The tension between religion and science as a long-standing barrier to science education has led researchers to explore ways of improving the experiences of Christian students in biology who can experience their Christianity as stigmatized in academic biology environments. As undergraduate science classes become student-centered, interactions among students increase, and Christians may feel a need to conceal their religious identities during peer discussions. In this interview study, we used the social psychology framework of concealable stigmatized identities to explore 30 Christian students' experiences during peer interactions in undergraduate biology courses to find potential ways to improve those experiences.

Numerous studies have been conducted on the ability of salts to stabilize proteins using purified proteins demonstrating the fact that the ability of salts to stabilize proteins correlates with the Hofmeister series of ions. Using the well characterized bacterial aqueous cytosolic β-galactosidase and catechol 2,3-dioxygenase enzymes, we demonstrated that salts can stabilize proteins or intracellularly as well and that the ability of salts to stabilize these two proteins intracellularly also correlates with the Hofmeister series of ions. NaSO and NaHPO were very effective at stabilizing both proteins, followed by NaCl, NHCl and (NH)HPO, while NHCHCO, (NH)SO and NaCHCO did not stabilize either of the proteins.

Predators frequently suppress herbivores and indirectly benefit plants via "trophic cascades", and the strength of these interactions can also depend on N availability. Premise Of The Study: Herbarium specimens provide a robust record of historical plant phenology (the timing of seasonal events such as flowering or fruiting). However, the difficulty of aggregating phenological data from specimens arises from a lack of standardized scoring methods and definitions for phenological states across the collections community.

Methods And Results: To address this problem, we report on a consensus reached by an iDigBio working group of curators, researchers, and data standards experts regarding an efficient scoring protocol and a data-sharing protocol for reproductive traits available from herbarium specimens of seed plants.

He attended Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, TN) where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. Hall also received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School (Chicago, IL).

This article reviews the primary avenues of judicial challenge to the ACA, focusing on those that have reached, or have the potential to reach, the Supreme Court. The review demonstrates how deep-seated public policy opposition can be expressed through litigation.

A picture of a nude isolated in a series of pictures of clothed models was quite memorable, but when compared with a clothed picture, the nude impaired memory for background picture derails as well as pictures immediately following the nude (anterograde amnesia). Recall of details given picture-gist recall, as well as recognition of person details, were equivalent in the clothed and nude conditions. A clothed picture isolated in a series of nudes did not hurt memory for background information, nor did it produce anterograde amnesia.
