Purpose: Posttreatment surveillance for local recurrence (LR) after stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) can include both fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) and computed tomography (CT). Radiation-induced lung injury shares a similar appearance to LR after treatment, making the detection of LR on imaging difficult for clinicians. We aimed to summarize radiologic features of CT and FDG-PET predicting LR and to evaluate radiomics as another tool for detecting LR.

Introduction: Evidence-based Australian guidelines (eviQ) recommend adjuvant supraclavicular fossa irradiation after axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) in node-positive breast cancer patients. Disparity between surgically determined versus computed tomography (CT) determined nodal volumes may result in discontiguous nodal volumes and untreated nodal tissue. We examine the extent of untreated nodal tissue in women with breast cancer post-level II or III ALND and adjuvant radiation therapy (RT) using ESTRO contouring guidelines.

Background: Intrinsic resistance to androgen receptor signalling inhibitors (ARSI) occurs in 20-30% of men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Ceramide metabolism may have a role in ARSI resistance. Our study's aim is to investigate the association of the ceramide-sphingosine-1-phosphate (ceramide-S1P) signalling axis with ARSI resistance in mCRPC.

Circulating lipids or cytokines are associated with prognosis in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). This study aimed to understand the interactions between lipid metabolism and immune response in mCRPC by investigating the relationship between the plasma lipidome and cytokines. Plasma samples from two independent cohorts of men with mCRPC ( = 146, 139) having life-prolonging treatments were subjected to lipidomic and cytokine profiling (290, 763 lipids; 40 cytokines).

Introduction: There is significant potential to analyse and model routinely collected data for radiotherapy patients to provide evidence to support clinical decisions, particularly where clinical trials evidence is limited or non-existent. However, in practice there are administrative, ethical, technical, logistical and legislative barriers to having coordinated data analysis platforms across radiation oncology centres.
Methods: A distributed learning network of computer systems is presented, with software tools to extract and report on oncology data and to enable statistical model development.

The most important geometric characteristic of stereotactic treatment is the accuracy of positioning the target at the treatment isocenter and the accuracy of directing the radiation beam at the treatment isocenter. Commonly, the radiation isocenter is used as the reference for the treatment isocenter, but its method of localization is not strictly defined, and it depends on the linac-specific beam steering parameters. A novel method is presented for determining the linac mechanical isocenter position and size based on the localization of the collimator axis of rotation at arbitrary gantry angle.

Men who initially present with localized prostate cancer and later develop metachronous metastases have a better prognosis than men with de novo metastatic disease and often have a low burden of disease on conventional imaging. Some have disease amenable to metastasis-directed therapy for lymph node or bone metastases, a strategy used by some because no documented overall survival (OS) benefit of combination systemic therapy in this setting. We report data for patients prospectively classified as "M0" at initial diagnosis from the interim analysis of the ENZAMET trial, with 34 mo of median follow-up for survivors.

The rapid rise in cancer incidence within the world's poorest nations highlights the need for equitable access to evidence-based cancer care. It has been previously demonstrated that radiotherapy is a cost-effective and necessary tool in cancer treatment. However, globally there is a growing divide between demand and supply of radiotherapy services.

Acceptance and commissioning of a linear accelerator is the process of preparing it for clinical use. One of the initial important dosimetric tasks for X-ray beam set-up and use is to optimise the trajectory of the electron beam before it hits the target (focal spot). The main purpose of this study is to characterise the effect of the focal spot position (offset) on the photon beam symmetry and centre position, as well as on linac radiation isocentre size and position for an Elekta Synergy® linac.

Background: The management of metastatic colorectal cancer patients with a poor performance status (PS) continues to be a clinical dilemma, with the potential activity and safety of treating this population remaining poorly understood. Few of these patients are enrolled onto clinical trials, and poor PS is often multifactorial.
Patients And Methods: We analyzed the Treatment of Recurrent and Advanced Colorectal Cancer registry to describe treatment practices and outcomes in poor (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group [ECOG] PS 2) and very poor PS (ECOG PS > 2) patients to explore the relationship between age, tumor burden, comorbidities, and PS, and to evaluate the benefit of systemic therapy.
