Introduction: Understanding health outcomes among people with cardiovascular disease (CVD) is crucial for improving treatment strategies and patient quality of life. This study investigated racial and ethnic disparities in perceived health status among non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic White adults with CVD.
Methods: The study had a retrospective cross-sectional design and used data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey spanning 8 calendar years (2014-2021).

Background: The burden of atrial fibrillation (AF) hospitalizations in young patients is not well characterized. We aimed to study the burden, comorbidities, outcomes, and resource utilization of AF hospitalizations in young patients.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of all primary AF hospitalizations in patients 18-45 years of age using the National Inpatient Sample data from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2019.

Accessible, low-cost digital programmes are emerging as a means by which to address high rates of mental health problems. However, the development and assessment of scalable training programmes for effective use of digital interventions has lagged. This is particularly important, as coach-supported digital interventions provide benefits that substantially and consistently exceed those of programmes that are entirely self-guided.

Objective: Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare, but less is known about how it may facilitate methodological innovations in research settings. In this manuscript, we describe a novel use of AI in summarizing and reporting qualitative data generated from an expert panel discussion about the role of electronic health records (EHRs) in implementation science.
Materials And Methods: 15 implementation scientists participated in an hour-long expert panel discussion addressing how EHRs can support implementation strategies, measure implementation outcomes, and influence implementation science.

Background: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) prevention is a major target for hospital quality metrics because it is linked to increased morbidity, mortality, and health care costs. Health care systems use strict protocols surrounding catheterization and maintenance, which often disregard the clinical needs of special populations (eg, spinal cord injury [SCI]). However, for populations that rely on chronic instrumentation of the bladder, asymptomatic (ie, nonpathogenic) bacterial colonization in the bladder is common but not linked to adverse outcomes.

The increasing availability of clinically approved genetic tests for kidney disease has spurred the growth in the use of these tests in kidney transplant practice. Neither the testing options nor the patient population where this should be deployed has been defined, and its value in kidney transplant evaluation has not been demonstrated. Transplant providers may not always be aware of the limitations of genetic testing and may need guidance on comprehending test results and providing counsel, as many centers do not have easy access to a renal genetic counselor or a clinical geneticist.

Background: Veterans of the 1990-1991 Gulf War have experienced excess health problems, most prominently the multisymptom condition Gulf War illness (GWI). The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Cooperative Studies Program #2006 "Genomics of Gulf War Illness in Veterans" project was established to address important questions concerning pathobiological and genetic aspects of GWI. The current study evaluated patterns of chronic ill health/GWI in the VA Million Veteran Program (MVP) Gulf War veteran cohort in relation to wartime exposures and key features of deployment, 27-30 years after Gulf War service.

Introduction: Stroke is now the 5th leading cause of death in the United States, and carotid artery stenosis is the cause of about 20% to 25% of strokes. We hypothesized that CAS may be an alternative to CEA in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with carotid artery stenosis.
Methods: We evaluated the clinical characteristics, adverse events and mortality of patients with carotid artery stenosis comparing CEA vs.

Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) or lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma is a B-cell malignancy characterized by lymphoplasmacytic cells in the bone marrow that secrete high amounts of immunoglobulin (Ig) M. The large pentameric structure of IgM leads to a variety of unique complications in WM, such as hyperviscosity syndrome, cryoglobulinemia and sensory neuropathy. Furthermore, malignant cells can infiltrate the central nervous system and lead to a variety of neurological complications, also known as Bing Neel Syndrome.

Background: The demographic characteristics of veterans has changed significantly in recent years and continues to become more diverse. To enhance the quality of health care for the current community of enrolled veterans, it is critical that the physicians and health care leaders of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) understand the changing demographics and health care needs of the veteran population.
Observations: Studies have shown that increased inclusion, diversity, and equity among clinicians are associated with improved clinical outcomes.
