The use of biocontrol microorganisms is one of the primary techniques used in agriculture to combat the damage caused by phytopathogens. Of these, Trichoderma sp. stand out as fungi species that are naturally present in agricultural soil and can come into contact with various compounds, such as nanostructured particles (NPs), which are starting to be used as pesticides and fertilizers.

In this study, biopolymer of chitosan-based films were synthesized, which were impregnated with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) at concentrations of 0, 1, 5 and 10 % w:v to obtain a film with microbicide properties and non-toxic for humans. The ZnO NPs were phytosynthesized with ethanolic extract of Ruta graveolens, by UV-Vis spectrophotometry and Tauc equation were estimated their Band gap energy=3.37 eV at wavelength of 302 nm.

The identification of factors that influence the distribution of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is key for future surveillance and control. This study sought to understand how environmental and climate variables can interfere with VL expansion in the Doce River basin located in Brazil. This ecological study explored the influence of anthropogenic, environmental, and climatic factors on VL expansion.

Through a retrospective study of affidavits, we identified trends among sociodemographic characteristics and types of human rights violations and used bivariate analysis to determine factors associated with guardianship. Children constituted 17% of all evaluations conducted during this period.

The aim of this narrative review is to synthesize and discuss existing evidence on the epidemiological aspects of dental pain, addressing its prevalence, risk factors, population distribution, impact on the quality of life, and implications for public health. Dental pain is a common condition that involves complex mechanisms of pain transmission and perception. Dental pain can be due to various causes, such as caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, dental trauma, and soft tissue conditions (e.

National data indicate that inadequately mentored faculty, particularly those from underrepresented minority backgrounds, are less likely to be retained. The role of mentoring in faculty retention is inadequately studied.

Background: Desmoid-type fibromatosis of the breast is a rare, benign, but locally aggressive tumor that typically affects women. Its presentation in male patients is exceedingly rare, and even more so following a cosmetic procedure such as liposuction. This case report describes a unique presentation of breast fibromatosis in a male patient, who developed the condition after undergoing liposuction for cosmetic purposes to define the pectoral area.

Introduction: Effective treatment of breast cancer remains a formidable challenge, partly due to our limited understanding of the complex microenvironmental factors that contribute to disease pathology. Among these factors are tissue-resident perivascular cells, which play crucial roles in shaping vascular basement membranes, maintaining vessel integrity, and communicating with adjacent endothelial cells. Despite their essential functions, perivascular cells have been relatively overlooked.

Nonetheless, available classifications for ME are exclusively quantitative assessments not considering the context in which extrusion is identified. Indeed, ME can be the result of several different conditions spanning from acute tears to chronic degeneration and its definition cannot be only dependent on the numeric calculation of the radial displacement of the meniscal body.

The human CMP-sialic acid transporter (hCST) is a mammalian highly conserved type III antiporter that translocates CMP-sialic acid into the Golgi lumen, supporting sialylation. Although different works have focused on elucidating structure-function relationships in the hCST, this is the first study to address them in an alternatively spliced isoform. We have previously reported the expression of a functional human del177 isoform that has skipping of exon 6, resulting in a loss of 59 amino acids, without change in the open reading frame and conserving its C-terminal region.

Purpose: To report the 12-month clinical outcomes in eyes with mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma (OAG) in Hispanic adults undergoing STREAMLINE Surgical System (STREAMLINE) canaloplasty combined with phacoemulsification.
Patients And Methods: This was a prospective, multi-center, interventional clinical trial involving 45 eyes of 45 Hispanic adult patients receiving topical medical therapy for mild to moderate OAG and undergoing phacoemulsification surgery for visually significant cataracts at three sites. All eyes underwent a Screening visit, followed by medication washout and a subsequent Baseline visit to determine eligibility for STREAMLINE canaloplasty.

Introduction: Extensive agricultural activity results in significant exposure to pesticides, particularly glyphosate, which has been linked to immunological disorders, including apoptosis and inflammation. , a species from the Bromeliaceaefamily native to Mexico, is traditionally used in folk medicine for its medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory effects. This research aimed to evaluate the protective effects of extract on human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) exposed to Faena®, a commercially available glyphosate-based herbicide.

Objective: Evidence suggests that psilocybin-assisted therapy (PAT) leads to durable shifts in personality structure. However, such changes have yet to be characterized in disorders of addiction. In this secondary analysis from a randomized controlled trial, the authors examined the effect of PAT on personality dimensions in patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD), hypothesizing that PAT would attenuate personality abnormalities in AUD and that reductions in trait impulsiveness would be associated with lower drinking.

Background: There is limited population-based evidence on the prevalence of cognitive impairment in Mexico, a country with a rapidly aging population and where key risk factors, such as diabetes and obesity, are common. This study describes the distribution of cognitive impairment in adults from Mexico City.
Methods: This cross-sectional population-based study included participants from the Mexico City Prospective Study which recruited 150,000 adults aged ≥ 35 years in 1998-2004.

Objective: The relationship between different power equations and the severity of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate various power equations: total mechanical power, total elastic power (comprising elastic static and elastic dynamic power), and resistive power, in a cohort of mechanically ventilated patients with and without ARDS. Bayesian analysis was employed to refine estimates and quantify uncertainty by incorporating a priori distributions.

Background/aim: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection, manifests a wide range of clinical symptoms ranging from mild to moderate and severe. Host-related factors influence the course of SARS-CoV-2 infection; for instance, the expression of host microRNAs (miRNAs) could influence the progression and complications of COVID-19. This study aimed to determine the expression pattern of endogenous miRNAs in 80 severe COVID-19 patients compared to a group of healthy individuals.

Introduction And Importance: Situs inversus is an anatomical rare condition in which visceral organs are not located in its normal position, with a reversal anatomical orientation.
Case Presentation: We present a case of an 27-year-old male with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 36.02 Kg/m2, who was programed for a Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG), in which Situs inversus was documented.
