Background: Microbiota and tight junction proteins (TJPs) are components of the gut barrier, and are considered stress targets that have deleterious effects on intestinal homeostasis.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of chronic immobilization stress on selected small intestine homeostasis parameters.
Material And Methods: Female BALB/c mice were divided into a stress group that underwent short-term immobilization for 2 h per day for 4 consecutive days, and a non-stressed control group (n = 6 per group).

Background: During the Covid-19 pandemic, children and adolescents faced poverty, potentially dying from preventable causes, or missing out essential vaccines. The aim of this study was to assess potential environmental and individual factors associated to COVID-19 mortality in children and adolescents in Mexico.
Methods: This cross-sectional study analysed the official data of 131,001 children under 10 years of age and adolescents between 10 and 19 years of age with COVID-19 disease, in Mexico.

Our objective was to review existing information on the presence of parasomnias in patients with addictions or during treatment for addictions. Information about parasomnias related to rapid-eye-movement (REM) and non-REM sleep in patients with addictions, while using substances or in abstinence, was reviewed.

Decreasing the intratumoral androgen biosynthesis by using an inhibitor of 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 3 (17β-HSD3) is a strategy to treat prostate cancer. The androsterone (ADT) derivative (RM-532-105) has shown strong inhibitory activity on 17β-HSD3, but needs to be improved. Herein, we describe the chemical synthesis and characterization of two series of analogues to address the impact of A- and D-ring modifications on 17β-HSD3 inhibitory activity, androgenic effect, and metabolic stability.

Design: Data from a cross-sectional survey were analysed. Physical activity was assessed using the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire.

Secretory and systemic antibody response in mice against enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) was evaluated. Groups of mice were immunized with formalin inactivated EPEC 0127:H6 strain by intranasal, peroral, intragastric and intrarectal route, with and without cholera toxin (CT) used as mucosal adjuvant. Mice immunized subcutaneously and a non treated control group were included.
