Introduction: Low-dose computed tomography tends to produce lower image quality than normal dose computed tomography (CT) although it can help to reduce radiation hazards of CT scanning. Research has shown that Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, especially deep learning can help enhance the image quality of low-dose CT by denoising images. This scoping review aims to create an overview on how AI technologies, especially deep learning, can be used in dose optimisation for low-dose CT.

Strengthening Antenatal Care towards a Salutogenic Approach: A Meta-Ethnography.

Int J Environ Res Public Health

May 2021

Health Care and Health Promotion, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, P.O. Box 4000, FI-00079 Helsinki, Finland.

The aim was to explore how midwives, public health nurses and nurses view caring in antenatal care (ANC) as provided for mothers and fathers/partners. Based on Noblit and Hare (1988), meta-ethnography was used to address meaning by synthesizing knowledge and understanding inductively through selected qualitative studies ( = 16). Four core themes were identified: (1) supporting the parents to awaken to parenthood and creating a firm foundation for early parenting and their new life situation; (2) guiding parents on the path to parenthood and new responsibility; (3) ensuring normality and the bond between baby and parents while protecting life; and (4) promoting the health and wellbeing of the family today and in the future.

Unlabelled: Autonomous solutions for transportation are emerging worldwide, and one of the sectors that will benefit the most from these solutions is the public transport by shifting toward the new paradigm of Mobility as a Service (MaaS). Densely populated areas cannot afford an increase in individual transportation due to space limitation, congestion, and pollution. Working towards more effective and inclusive mobility in public areas, this paper compares user experiences of autonomous public transport across Baltic countries, with the final goal of gaining an increased insight into public needs.

Article Synopsis
  • * Ten different ascomycete yeast species were isolated from various sourdough types, and seven were tested for traits important for brewing, showing low alcohol production (<1%) during initial fermentation trials.
  • * Two yeast species, Kazachstania servazzii and Pichia fermentans, were chosen for larger fermentation tests; Pichia fermentans showed promise for low-alcohol wheat beers due to its spice aroma, while Kazachstania servazzii was suited for lager-style beers due to its clean flavor profile

The aim of this study was to describe identified risk areas related to the medication administration process in acute care in order to develop a three-dimensional-game intervention. A secondary analysis was conducted using (1) observed medication administrations (n = 1058) and identified medication errors in 2012 (n = 235), (2) a systematic review including a meta-analysis of previous medication administration educational interventions (n = 14) from 2000 to 2015, (3) incident reports of medication administration errors (n = 1012) from 2013 to 2014, and (4) focus group interviews with RNs' (n = 20) views in 2015. A qualitative content analysis was used to identify risk areas, and the data were organized according to the following main themes: (1) factors related to patients (patient identification, patients' characteristics or symptoms, and patients' allergies and interactions); (2) factors related to medications (medication information, changes in medications, generic substitutes, new drugs, look-alike/sound-alike drugs, demanding drug treatments, medication preparation, and administration techniques); (3) factors related to staffing (workload, skills, interruptions and distractions, division of work, responsibility, attitudes, and guidelines); and (4) factors related to communication (flow of information, communication with the patients, and marking of medication information).

Exhaust emissions from diesel vehicles are significant sources of air pollution. In this study, particle number emissions and size distributions of a modern Euro 5b -compliant diesel passenger car exhaust were measured under the NEDC and US06 standard cycles as well as during different transient driving cycles. The measurements were conducted on a chassis dynamometer; in addition, the transient cycles were repeated on-road by a chase method.

Two separate subfamilies of Plio-Pleistocene African pigs (suids) consecutively evolved hypsodont and horizodont molars with flat occlusal surfaces, commonly interpreted as an adaptive trait to a grazing diet, similar to that of the present warthogs (Phacochoerus spp.). To investigate this in detail, we studied the 3D-dental topography of fossil specimens from the Turkana Basin, using geographic information systems-based methods.

Marine traffic in harbors can be responsible for significant atmospheric concentrations of ultrafine particles (UFPs), which have widely recognized negative effects on human health. It is therefore essential to model and measure the time evolution of the number size distributions and chemical composition of UFPs in ship exhaust to assess the resulting exposure in the vicinity of shipping routes. In this study, a sequential modelling chain was developed and applied, in combination with the data measured and collected in major harbor areas in the cities of Helsinki and Turku in Finland, during winter and summer in 2010-2011.
