Purpose: Bibliometrics is increasingly used to assess the quantity and quality of scientific research output in many research fields worldwide. However, to the best of our knowledge, no studies have documented the main characteristics of arthroplasty publications from different countries. This study aimed to evaluate the worldwide research productivity and status of Turkey in the field of arthroplasty using bibliometric methods and to provide an insight into the arthroplasty research for surgeons and researchers.

Dysspondyloenchondromatosis (DSC) is a rare form of generalized enchondromatosis and characterized by short stature with unequal limb length, multiple enchondromas in metaphyseal and diaphyseal parts of the long tubular bones, and progressive kyphoscoliosis. Although the gene mutation was found to be responsible for DSC, a case of DSC with no pathogenic mutation in the gene has also been reported, suggesting that the condition is genetically heterogeneous. Here, we report 2 novel heterozygous mutations in in 2 patients with DSC.

Objectives: We investigated the use of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in patients with Dupuytren's Disease (DD) palmar nodules in an attempt to reduce the contracture, alleviate the pain (if any), increase the range of motion and quality of life, and delay a probable surgery in the long term.
Methods: Patients with DD who presented to our hand surgery clinic and fulfilled the inclusion criteria were enrolled. The treatment was performed by the same physician using the ESWT device once a week for six weeks.

This article presents a 48-year-old male patient who presented with pain in the left forearm and weakness and clumsiness in the left hand of 6 months' duration. Flexor motor strength loss of the thumb and the index finger was present and neurophysiologic tests showed findings compatible with axonal injury in the anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) innervated muscles. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a space-occupying lesion in the proximal forearm resembling a glomus tumor.

Objective: To present the results of our cases of Dupuytren's disease treated with regional selective fasciectomy in light of the literature.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with Dupuytren's contracture and surgically treated with regional selective fasciectomy at our institution with adequate follow-up data were included in the study. All patients were routinely followed after surgery to assess results and complications.

Purpose: The aim of this experimental study was to investigate the impact of HA-CS-NAG compound (hyaluronate, sodium chondroitin sulfate, N-acetyl-d-glucosamine) on the quality of repair tissue after micro-fracture and to compare it with HA (hyaluronat), in a rat full-thickness chondral defect model.
Methods: Full-thickness chondral defects were created in a non-weight bearing area by using a handle 2.7-mm drill bit, in the right knees of 33 Sprague-Dawley rats.

Introduction: Traumatic hip dislocation associated with femur intertrocanteric fracture is a rare and severe injury and it frequently occurs following a high energy trauma, Associated acetabular fractures with this injury are even more rare and potentially cause devastating consequences including avascular necrosis of the femoral head and subsequent early secondary osteoarthritis of the hip joint.
Presentation Of Case: In this case report, we present a 20year old polytraumatized patient with traumatic hip dislocation associated with ipsilateral acetabulum fracture and simultaneous fractures of the ipsilateral femur.
Discussion: Traumatic hip dislocation associated with femur intertrochanteric fracture is a rare and severe injury and it frequently occurs following a high energy trauma.

Purpose: This study investigated the short-term effects of KT on back pain (BP) in patients with Lenke Type 1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Methods: We chosen Lenke Type 1 scoliosis who have had only back pain (the localization of the pain: the only in the apical convex edge). Forty patients suffering from BP with Lenke Type 1 AIS were randomly separated into two groups, Group 1 (20 patients) and Group 2 (20 patients).

Objective: Percutaneous vertebroplasty with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) restores the stiffness and the strength of fractured vertebral bodies, but changes the pattern of the stress transfer. This effect may cause a secondary fracture of the adjacent vertebrae. Elastoplasty has emerged as a new technique to overcome this complication.

Objective: The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare a series of patients surgically treated with ORIF or early resection arthroplasty due to isolated comminuted radial head fractures.
Methods: Between the years 2009 and 2013, 34 patients with isolated comminuted fractures of the radial head (Mason Type 3) had been operated (ORIF in 19 patients, resection arthroplasty in 15 patients). The mean age of the patients in the ORIF group was 38.

The aim of this study was to compare the midterm clinical and radiological outcomes of the Salter osteotomy (SO) and Tonnis lateral acetabuloplasty (TLA) with concomitant open reduction for the treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip. Twenty-five hips of 20 patients who underwent SO with open reduction and 26 hips of 23 patients who underwent TLA with open reduction were evaluated retrospectively. The average age of the patients at the time of the operation was 35.

Background: Inflammatory responses to wear debris cause osteolysis that leads to aseptic prosthesis loosening and hip arthroplasty failure. Although osteolysis is usually associated with aseptic loosening, it is rarely seen around stable implants. Aseptic implant loosening is a simple radiologic phenomenon, but a complex immunological process.

Purpose: The aim of this experimental study is to evaluate the efficacy of a novel intraarticular drug in a papain induced osteoarthritis (OA) rat model and compare with the traditional hyaluronat (HA) visco supplementation.
Methods: An early stage OA model was induced by the intra-articular injection of papain enzyme in the right knee joints of 44 Sprague-Dawley rats. Eleven rats (eleven right knees: papain group, 11 left knees: control group) were chosen randomly 28 days after the last injection and sacrificed for verifying OA.

Our retrospective study compared vitamin-D levels in 229 patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and 389 age-matched controls, and evaluated the correlation between vitamin-D levels and sex, Cobb's angle, and serum levels of calcium (Ca), phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase in the AIS group. Vitamin-D levels were lower in the AIS group, with no sex-specific effects, indicative of a possible vitamin-D resistance in AIS. Vitamin-D levels correlated positively with Ca levels and negatively with Cobb's angle, indicative of a possible role of vitamin D in the etiopathogenesis of AIS.

The goal of distal chevron osteotomy for hallux valgus is to restore proper first-toe joint alignment by performing lateral translation of the distal first metatarsal fragment (the metatarsal head). We hypothesized that in some patients this procedure might also result in involuntary medial translation of the proximal first metatarsal fragment, which we called proximal intermetatarsal divergence. The aim of the present study was to compare the pre- and postoperative radiographs of patients with hallux valgus to determine whether we could identify proximal intermetatarsal divergence.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of two different growth guidance techniques (dual growing rod and vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib [VEPTR]) on shoulder balance, in the surgical treatment of congenital scoliosis.
Materials And Methods: Thirteen patients who were operated due to congenital scoliosis are divided into two groups. The coracoid height difference and clavicular tilt angle difference were measured on standing anteroposterior X-ray images in the preoperative, early postoperative periods, and during the last follow-up.
