Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is an important pulmonary complication in brain-injured patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). We aimed to evaluate the incidence and association between ARDS and clinical outcomes in patients with different forms of acute brain injury requiring IMV in the intensive care unit (ICU). This was a preplanned secondary analysis of a prospective, multicenter, international cohort study (NCT03400904).

Despite similarities between compulsive sexual disorder and substance use disorder, the issue whether problematic sexual behavior should be viewed within an addiction framework continues to be a subject of debate with no consensus regarding its conceptualization and diagnosis criteria. Examining the presence of addiction criteria among clinical and no clinical samples in the existing literature could permit to ascertain clinical validity of sex addiction diagnosis and support its overlapping feature with other addictive disorders. The aim of this systematic review was to examine this issue by assessing DSM-5 criteria of substance use disorder among individuals engaged in problematic sexual activity.

Introduction: Since the first description of sex addiction (SA) by Carnes, research on this problematic behaviour has continued to grow, and the association with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) appears to be frequent. This study aimed to estimate the frequency of a history of probable ADHD in a population of patients with SA and to explore the factors associated with it.
Methods: One hundred 85 patients referred to the Nantes University Hospital for SA between 2011 and 2020 were included.

Purpose: Managers' actions can facilitate the return to work (RTW) process for breast cancer survivors (BCS). However, data on BCS' experiences of managers' actions regarding RTW are dispersed across multiple qualitative studies and do not offer useful insights for managers to support employees returning to work. This study aimed to summarize and map managers' actions experienced by BCS over three RTW phases (before, during, after) and categorize them as facilitating or hindering RTW.

Purpose: Our aim is to advance response shift research by explicating the implications of published syntheses by the Response Shift - in Sync Working Group in an integrative way and suggesting ways for improving the quality of future response shift studies.
Methods: Members of the Working Group further discussed the syntheses of the literature on definitions, theoretical underpinnings, operationalizations, and response shift methods. They outlined areas in need of further explication and refinement, and delineated additional implications for future research.

Background: Since the appearance of zolpidem on the market, the occurrence of serious cases of abuse, misuse and dependence have come to the attention of authorities. In view of the increase in the number and severity of cases among zolpidem users and the predominant presence of zolpidem in falsified prescriptions, the French Health Authorities implemented part of the narcotics regulation for zolpidem in April 2017. The objective of this article was to describe the evolution of the abuse, dependence and misuse of zolpidem.

Importance: It is uncertain whether a rapid-onset opioid is noninferior to a rapid-onset neuromuscular blocker during rapid sequence intubation when used in conjunction with a hypnotic agent.
Objective: To determine whether remifentanil is noninferior to rapid-onset neuromuscular blockers for rapid sequence intubation.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Multicenter, randomized, open-label, noninferiority trial among 1150 adults at risk of aspiration (fasting for <6 hours, bowel occlusion, recent trauma, or severe gastroesophageal reflux) who underwent tracheal intubation in the operating room at 15 hospitals in France from October 2019 to April 2021.

The study included two groups of participants: 30 regular nondisordered poker players (those who played at least three times a week in Texas Hold'em poker games for at least three months) and 30 control participants (those who did not gamble or gambled less than once a month, whatever the game).

Objectives: The impact of COVID-19 on gambling behavior and the gambling industry itself has been widely speculated. Prior studies have shown how boredom, social isolation, poor mental health, and financial hardships, all of which have been associated with COVID-19, can aggravate problem gambling behaviors in patients with gambling disorders while also luring newcomers. Few studies have used methods other than self-report to assess longitudinal behavioral changes in gambling behavior before versus during the pandemic.

For the 371 respondents out of the 732 persons who received the survey, the findings were unequivocal: for one-third of the respondents, being a woman was considered as an obstacle to careers or academic advancement, and for two thirds, pregnancy was viewed as a barrier to their career advancement. Gender discrimination had been experienced by 55% of the respondents.

Background: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the most effective non-pharmacological treatment for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) but can expose to transient cognitive impairments. Understanding factors underlying these cognitive side effects is important. This study investigated the impact of anticholinergic treatments on cognitive performances after ECT courses for TRD in naturalistic condition.

Background: Awake prone positioning has been broadly utilised for non-intubated patients with COVID-19-related acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure, but the results from published randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in the past year are contradictory. We aimed to systematically synthesise the outcomes associated with awake prone positioning, and evaluate these outcomes in relevant subpopulations.
Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, two independent groups of researchers searched MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, MedRxiv, BioRxiv, and ClinicalTrials.
