Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) even nowadays remains a complex neurodegenerative disease and its diagnosis relies mainly on cognitive tests which have many limitations. On the other hand, qualitative imaging will not provide an early diagnosis because the radiologist will perceive brain atrophy on a late disease stage. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to investigate the necessity of quantitative imaging in the assessment of AD by using machine learning (ML) methods.

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women, and its diagnosis relies on medical imaging and the invasive, uncomforted biopsy. Recent advances in quantitative imaging and specifically the application of radiomics has proved to be a very promising technique, facilitating both diagnosis and therapy. The purpose of this study is to assess radiomic features derived from post-contrast T1w Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) sequences and Apparent Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) maps for the evaluation of breast pathologies.

Background/aim: Primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBCL) is an aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), whose prognosis has greatly improved since the incorporation of the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab into current therapeutic regimens. Evidence, however, on the optimal time interval between consecutive chemoimmunotherapy (CIT) cycles is still scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy outcomes of the more commonly administered 3-weekly regimens to the biweekly ones in a PMLBCL patients' population, who were mostly treated with rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisolone every 21 days (R-CHOP-21) or R-CHOP-14.

Thromboprophylaxis, as a preventive measure for cancer-associated thrombosis (CAT), may be beneficial for patients with active cancer and high-risk for thrombosis. The present post hoc analysis include a total of 407 patients enrolled in the Greek Management of Thrombosis study, who received thromboprophylaxis with tinzaparin. The objectives of the present analysis were: i) To obtain sufficient evidence for the administration of prophylaxis in patients with active cancer, irrespective of Khorana risk assessment model score; ii) to identify the selection criteria for both dose and duration of tinzaparin; and iii) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tinzaparin administered for CAT prophylaxis.

Pneumatosis cystoides-like pattern is a group of histopathological features occasionally found in ovarian teratomas. This is a case of laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy performed for incomplete adnexal torsion where histology reported mature ovarian teratoma with "pneumatosis cystoides-like appearance". This term is used to describe the presence of multiple cystic spaces within the tumor wall.

Background: R-CHOP can cure approximately 75% of patients with primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMLBCL), but prognostic factors have not been sufficiently evaluated yet. R-da- EPOCH is potentially more effective but also more toxic than R-CHOP. Reliable prognostic classification is needed to guide treatment decisions.

Background: Cardiomegaly is a relatively common incidental finding on chest X-rays; if left untreated, it can result in significant complications. Using Artificial Intelligence for diagnosing cardiomegaly could be beneficial, as this pathology may be underreported, or overlooked, especially in busy or under-staffed settings.
Purpose: To explore the feasibility of applying four different transfer learning methods to identify the presence of cardiomegaly in chest X-rays and to compare their diagnostic performance using the radiologists' report as the gold standard.

The regimen of 5-azacytidine for patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) has remained unchanged since its first approval. Although several modifications have since been made and delays and dose reductions are common especially during the first treatment cycles, there are minimal data on the prognostic effect of these modifications. In this study, based on data from 897 patients with MDS treated with 5-azacytidine recorded in a national registry, the effect of treatment delays and dose reductions on response, transformation to acute myeloid leukaemia, and survival (after 5-azacytidine initiation, OS ) were analysed.

Background: The differences in histopathology and molecular biology between right colon cancer (RCC) and left colon cancer (LCC) were first reported in the literature by Bufill in 1990. Since then, a large number of studies have confirmed their differences in epidemiology, clinical presentation, comorbidities and biological behaviours, which may be related to the difference in prognosis and overall survival (OS) between the two groups.
Aim: To investigate statistically significant differences between Greek patients with LCC and RCC.

Background: Hypomethylating agents have altered the prognosis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) so that long-term survival is now a feasible treatment goal.
Patients And Methods: We analyzed data from patients with MDS treated with 5-azacytidine recorded in the Hellenic 5-azacytidine registry. We divided patients, on the basis of their survival after 5-azacytidine initiation (OS), in groups of long-term survivors (Q and P group with OS above the third quartile and the 90th percentile of the whole group, respectively) and short-term survivors comprising the remaining patients, and compared the characteristics between the groups.
