Objective: The primary objective of this study was to identify the risk of metastasis to lymph nodes above the inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) in endometrioid-type endometrial cancer (EC) and the factors that influence metastasis.
Methods: The study included patients who had been operated on for endometrioid-type EC in three gynecological oncology centers between 2007 and 2023. The supramesenteric lymph node (SM-LN) is the region between the left renal vein and the IMA, whereas the inframesenteric lymph node (IM-LN) is the region between the IMA and the aortic bifurcation, as determined by the level of the IMA.

In children, 90% cases of intussusception are idiopathic and the remaining 10% are attributed to underlying diseases (most commonly due to Meckel's diverticulum, polyps then either duplication cyst or mesentery cysts, and rarely due to Burkitt's lymphoma). The occurrence of acute intestinal intussusception caused by Burkitt's lymphoma in children under the age of 5 is exceedingly rare. Burkitt's lymphoma presents with diverse clinical manifestations, often leading to the identification of an abdominal tumor in pediatric patients.

Investigation of cell dynamics within this environment has motivated in vitro and ex vivo biomimetic model development. Our lab recently introduced the tumor spheroid-rat mesentery model to investigate cancer-induced lymphatic/blood vessel remodeling.

Parasitic leiomyoma (PL) develops when fragments of a morcellated uterine leiomyoma, during procedures such as laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) or total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH), adhere to other tissues. We recently encountered a case where PL developed in the mesentery of the sigmoid colon following TLH. A 51-year-old woman had previously undergone TLH with in-abdominal morcellation.

The "streamline flow" of the portal vein (PV) is a controversial yet well-known theory presented almost 125 years ago. It states that blood from the superior mesenteric vein (SMV) goes preferentially to the right liver lobe, while splenic and inferior mesenteric veins divert blood predominantly to the left lobe, affecting this way the metastatic distribution of colorectal cancer (CRC). The aim of this systematic review is to assess its validity by examining and combining all the relevant literature with a critical eye.

Background: Numerous studies have indicated that the temozolomide and capecitabine regimen (TEMCAP) exhibits a certain level of efficacy in treating advanced, well-differentiated gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NET). However, published data from Peru are limited. We hypothesize that this regimen could be a viable therapeutic option for advanced GEP-NET in the Peruvian population.

Background: Signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) is a rare subtype of colorectal cancer. The incidence of primary colonic SRCC is relatively rare in pediatric patients, with a limited number of reported cases currently available. The prognosis for this specific tumor type is unfavorable, and the preoperative diagnosis presents challenges, potentially leading to misdiagnosis.

Rupture of a hydatid cyst can lead to the development of a disseminated form of intra-abdominal cystic echinococcosis if not diagnosed and treated promptly. Anaphylactic shock is a definite indication of cyst rupture. The presented clinical case was a young athlete with a disseminated form of cystic echinococcosis, which was investigated in 2023 at the Syzganov National Scientific Center for Surgery of Kazakhstan.

Parasitic myoma is a relatively rare disease in which one or more leiomyomas form outside the uterus; however, the detailed causes are unknown. Few sporadic reports are available, and per our research, the maximum number of parasitic myomas reported to date was 26, and almost all cases were treated by surgical resection. We report a rare case of numerous parasitic myomas in the abdominal cavity, possibly including an intrathoracic lesion, which could not be resected completely.

Background: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma has a predisposition to invade the neural tissue surrounding the superior mesenteric artery (SMA). Before the advent of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), any invasion of this tissue was often considered as unresectable disease. Currently, patients who respond favourably to NAC have potentially resectable disease.

Background: There is currently limited research on the optimal level of inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) ligation during surgery for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT). We carried out a retrospective cohort study to analyze the impact of IMA ligation level on surgical outcomes and long-term patient prognosis.
Methods: The data originated from a multicenter randomized controlled trial conducted across six tertiary referral hospitals in Beijing, involving patients with LARC undergoing nCRT followed by radical surgery.

Rectal cancer robotic surgery is becoming more and more common, but evidence for predicting surgical difficulty is scarce. Our goal was to look at the elements that influence the complexity of robot-assisted total mesorectal excision (R-TME) in the medical care of middle and low rectal cancer as well as to establish and validate a predictive model on the basis of these factors. Within this multicenter retrospective investigation, 166 consecutive patients receiving R-TME between January 2021 and December 2022 with middle and low rectal cancer were included and categorized according to the median operation time.
