Background: The COVID-19 pandemic added new challenges and stressors to the childbirth period, potentially increasing the risk of traumatic childbirth experiences. There is little known about posttraumatic growth (PTG) in a childbearing population. This study describes PTG in women after traumatic childbirth during the COVID-19 pandemic and its association with sociodemographic, birth-related characteristics, traumatic childbirth events, perceived stress, and core beliefs, as well as explores what factors predict PTG.

There are several factors that influence women's childbirth experience, and personal interactions with health professionals are of particular significance. The main objective of this study was to present the validation of an abbreviated form of an existing questionnaire on attitudes about childbirth in medical and nursing students. We used a sample of 512 perinatal medicine and nursing students who received the original 52-item CAVE-st questionnaire to obtain a shorter version with proper psychometric properties.

This research employs a GIS-assisted approach of multivariate statistics and inverse geochemical modeling to unravel the processes driving groundwater salinization in a complex aquifer system. Multivariate statistical methods define the end-member water groups, identifying dominant processes explaining hydrogeochemical variance in wet and dry season water chemistry datasets. Mineral saturation indices (SIs) and inverse geochemical modeling (IGM) investigate potential geochemical reactions and mixing processes responsible for the observed groundwater compositions and their spatiotemporal evolution along reversed flow paths caused by overexploitation in the Rhodope aquifer system.

People often confuse smell loss with taste loss, so it is unclear how much gustatory function is reduced in patients self-reporting taste loss. Our pre-registered cross-sectional study design included an online survey in 12 languages with instructions for self-administering chemosensory tests with 10 household items. Between June 2020 and March 2021, 10,953 individuals participated.

Background: Even when maternity care facilities are available, some women will choose to give birth unassisted by a professional (freebirth). This became more apparent during the pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), as women were increasingly concerned they would contract the virus in health care facilities. Several studies have identified the factors that influence women to seek alternative places of birth to hospitals, but research focusing specifically on freebirth is limited.

The growing groundwater withdrawal rates in coastal aquifers in arid/semi-arid regions exacerbate seawater intrusion and saltwater upconing by causing groundwater salinization and potential adverse and cascading effects to related groundwater-depending systems. This study aims to highlight the dynamics of groundwater salinization in time and space by comparing the efficacy of statistical (hierarchical cluster and factor analyses) and hydrogeochemical (hydrogeochemical facies evolution) methods. Multi-temporal groundwater samples collected from the monitoring well network in the study area (Salento Aquifer, Puglia region, Southern Italy) have been considered to recognize such dynamics.

Objective: Cryptogenic stroke (CS) is considered to be the most common stroke subtype in young patients. The Risk of Paradoxical Embolism (RoPE) score is a tool that stratifies patients with CS according to the probability of patent foramen ovale (PFO). The aim of this retrospective study is to determine the prevalence of PFO in young patients with transesophageal echocardi- ography (TEE) and to evaluate the role of RoPE score in PFO-related strokes.

Hyperkalemia is a common electrolyte abnormality in heart failure (HF) that can cause potentially life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. HF patients with diabetes, chronic kidney disease and older age are at higher risk of hyperkalemia. Moreover, hyperkalemia is also often associated with the use of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASi) including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists and sacubitril-valsartan.

Background And Objective: Pain control is one of the major concerns after major hip surgeries. Suprainguinal fascia iliaca compartment block (S-FICB) is an alternative analgesic technique that can be considered as an effective and less invasive method than epidural analgesia (EA). In this retrospective study, we compared postoperative analgesic efficacy of single shot ultrasound guided S-FICB and EA after major hip surgery.

Introduction: There is increasing evidence that pancreatic steatosis (PS) is associated with metabolic syndrome (MS). However, it is not known whether it is associated with PS grade and pancreatic stiffness, or not. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between PS and its grade detected by transabdominal ultrasound, and pancreatic stiffness determined by two-dimensional shearwave elastography (2D-SWE), whether it has clinical significance and its relationship with MS.

Introduction: Gelastic seizures are the type of seizures that are most commonly seen in childhood and should be excluded definitely in the differential diagnosis of hypothalamic hamartomas. This seizure type may be accompanied by refractory seizures, cognitive decline, and early puberty. However, etiology may also include other causes different than hypothalamic hamartomas.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a blood marker for inflammation and is an independent prognostic factor for many human cancers. Combined with albumin levels, it forms the basis of the Glasgow Index for cancer prognosis. We reviewed the literature on CRP and HCC and also evaluated blood CRP levels and combination CRP plus albumin levels in a large HCC cohort.

Background: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of anatomic differences on the relationship between renal artery and diaphragmatic crus via the touch of two structures.
Materials And Methods: The study included dynamic computed tomography (CT) scans of 308 patients performed mainly for characterisation of liver and renal masses. Anatomic differences including the thickness of the diaphragmatic crus, the localisation of renal artery ostium at the wall of aorta, the level of renal artery origin with respect to superior mesenteric artery were evaluated.
