Background: Studies assessing outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis (AS) with hemodynamic subtypes have demonstrated mixed results with respect to outcomes and periprocedural complications. This study aimed to assess the outcomes of TAVR in patients across various hemodynamic subtypes of severe AS.
Methods: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched through September 2023 to identify all observational studies comparing outcomes of TAVR in patients with paradoxical low flow low gradient (pLFLG), classic LFLG, and high gradient AS (HGAS).

Background: Despite their improved safety, by and large, cardiac electrophysiology procedures including catheter ablation (CA), are presently performed in hospital outpatient departments.
Objective: This large multicenter study investigated the safety and outcomes associated with various cardiac electrophysiology procedures performed at 6 ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), primarily during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic under the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospitals Without Walls program.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes from consecutive electrophysiology procedures performed in ASCs with same-day discharge, including transesophageal echocardiography, cardioversion, cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation, electrophysiology studies, and CA for atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutter (AFL)/supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular premature complexes (VPCs), and atrioventricular node.

Background: Relative-tachycardia (RT), a phenomenon of unproportionately high heart-rate elevation in response to fever, has been previously attributed to unfavourable outcomes in severe-inflammatory-response-syndrome (SIRS). Relative heart-rate to body-temperature ratio (RHR) and its prognostic associations in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have not been investigated.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed heart-rate and body-temperature data at admission in patients who were hospitalized due to COVID-19 at a tertiary center from March 2020 to June 2021.

Pulsed-field ablation (PFA) has emerged as a promising nonthermal ablation alternative for treating atrial fibrillation (AF). By delivering ultra-rapid high-energy electrical pulses, PFA induces irreversible electroporation, selectively targeting myocardial tissue while sparing adjacent structures from thermal or other damage. This article provides a comprehensive review of multiple pre-clinical studies, clinical studies, and clinical trials evaluating the safety, efficacy, and long-term outcomes of PFA in various settings and patient populations.

The development of new right ventricular (RV) dysfunction after cannulation to venovenous (VV) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and its association with worse outcomes is increasingly recognized in adult patients, however, no studies have evaluated this phenomenon in pediatric patients. We report results of a single-center retrospective cohort study at a large academic children's hospital. New RV systolic dysfunction was present in 48% (12/25) of pediatric patients on VV ECMO for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

It is well known that individuals with liver cirrhosis are considered at high risk for cardiac surgery, with an increased risk for morbidity and mortality as the liver disease progresses. In the last decade, there have been considerable advances in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) as an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) in individuals deemed to be at high risk for surgery. However, research surrounding TAVI in the setting of liver cirrhosis has not been as widely studied.

Introduction: Cryoablation therapy for pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) to treat paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is well established. A novel 28 mm cryoballoon system designed to operate under low pressure to safely reach a lower nadir temperature and maintain constant balloon size during cooling has not been prospectively studied in a large patient population for safety and efficacy. The FROZEN AF (NCT04133168) trial was an international multicenter, open-label, prospective, single-arm study on the safety and performance of a novel cryoballoon system for treatment of PAF.
