Background: Vaccination plays an important role in fighting against COVID-19. However, it is unclear about the association among vaccination, mental health, and bullying behaviors in China.

Method: This online survey was conducted to investigate the association among vaccination status, mental health problems and bullying behaviors in students from December 14, 2022 to February 28, 2023 in Sichuan, China.

Body Mass Index mediates the associations between dietary approaches to stop hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea among U.S. adults.

Background: The Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) are associated with reduced cardiovascular, diabetes risk, but the effect on obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is uncertain.

Methods: This study used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). DASH score was assessed through 24-h dietary recall interviews, and OSA diagnosis in individuals was based on predefined criteria.

Effectiveness and safety of aripiprazole oral solution in the acute treatment of schizophrenia in Chinese patients.

Background: This study investigates the effectiveness and safety of aripiprazole oral solution in Chinese patients with schizophrenia.

Methods: This was a multicenter, single-arm phase IV study involving 134 patients in China in the acute stage of schizophrenia from May 2021 to July 2022. The patients received aripiprazole oral solution 10 - 30 mg/d for 12 weeks.

Novel anoikis-related diagnostic biomarkers for aortic dissection based on machine learning.

Aortic dissection (AD) is one of the most dangerous diseases of the cardiovascular system, which is characterized by acute onset and poor prognosis, while the pathogenesis of AD is still unclear and may affect or even delay the diagnosis of AD. Anchorage-dependent cell death (Anoikis) is a special mode of cell death, which is programmed cell death caused by normal cells after detachment from extracellular matrix (ECM) and has been widely studied in the field of oncology in recent years. In this study, we applied bioinformatics analysis, according to the results of research analysis and Gene Ontology (GO), as well as Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), finally found 3 anoikis-related genes (ARGs) based on machine learning.

Prediction of functional remission in patients with schizophrenia after antipsychotic discontinuation (FURSAD): protocol for a real-world case-control study.

Introduction: Although maintenance treatment is recommended for the prevention of relapse, in real-world settings, a subset of patients discontinue antipsychotics while having a good prognosis. The prediction of functional remission in patients with schizophrenia after antipsychotic discontinuation (FURSAD) study aims to obtain real-world knowledge regarding the characteristics of schizophrenia (SCZ) patients who achieve functional remission after antipsychotic discontinuation for 1 year or more. This study also aims to establish a prediction model to identify patients likely to benefit from antipsychotic discontinuation.

The effects of intelligence on exposure to combat and posttraumatic stress disorder across multiple deployments.

Introduction: Past work relates intelligence quotient (IQ) to risk for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) among soldiers. We gathered data over multiple deployments to assess how IQ relates to the rate of symptom development both directly and through increasing the risk for traumatic combat exposure.

Methods: Male infantry soldiers from a maneuver brigade (N = 582) were followed over the 3-year period of their mandatory military service.

Impairment of white matter microstructure and structural network in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the damage of white matter (WM) microstructure and structural network in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) using diffusion tensor imaging.

Methods: Tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) were used to compare the difference in WM fractional anisotropy (FA) between SLE and HCs groups. The differences in WM networks between groups are compared using graph theory.

The effect of a new thinking guidance of OPACCUS for shock on the 30-day mortality: A multicenter, prospective, observational, cohort study.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether our new thinking guidance named OPACCUS (oxygen metabolism, perfusion, arterial tension, cardiac output, systemic congestion, unregulated host response and search for inciting illness event) with 7 questions you need to ask before shock therapy and evidences provided by critical ultrasound considering hemodynamics, the unregulated host response and inciting illness event would improve mortality in shock patients.

Research on geographic and socioeconomic disparities of NO attributed mortality burden is limited. This study aims to quantify the geographic and socioeconomic differences in the association between long-term exposure to NO and mortality burden in China. We estimated the all-cause mortality burden of adults over 16 years old attributable to NO exposure above 10 µg/m for 231 Chinese cities from 2015 to 2019, and geographic and socioeconomic differences .

Gender differences in elementary school students' fraction learning: roles of spatial ability and mathematical anxiety.

Aim: In this study, we examined gender differences in fraction learning and explored potential underlying mechanisms.

Methods: The mediating effects of spatial ability and mathematical anxiety on gender differences in fraction learning were tested in elementary school students. A total of 165 sixth-grade students (83 girls) from public elementary schools participated in the study.

Oxidative balance is associated with diabetic kidney disease and mortality in adults with diabetes mellitus: Insights from NHANES database and Mendelian randomization.

Objective: To explore and validate the association between the oxidative balance and prevalence of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and mortality in patients with diabetes.

Study Design: A large and representative sample from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2013 to 2016 was analyzed to study the potential association between Oxidative Balance Score (OBS) and prognosis of DKD in adult diabetic patients. Weighted multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between OBS and DKD risk.

Although cross-sectional studies have positively associated online social activity (OSA) time and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) problems, the directionality remains unclear. Therefore, we examined longitudinal associations between OSA time and ADHD problems using data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study.

A real-world pharmacovigilance study of neuroleptic malignant syndrome based on FDA adverse event reporting system.

Background: Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a rare but potentially life-threatening adverse drug reaction. This study aims to identify the most prevalent drugs associated with the risk of NMS according to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database.

Methods: Analyses were performed using data from the FAERS database from January 2004 to June 2024.

Disease Modules Associated with Unfavorable Sleep Patterns and Their Genetic Determinants: A Prospective Cohort Study of the UK Biobank.

Unlabelled: Despite the established associations between sleep-related traits and major diseases, comprehensive assessment on affected disease modules and their genetic determinants is lacking. Using multiple correspondence analysis and the k-means clustering algorithm, 235,826 eligible participants were clustered into distinct unfavorable sleep patterns [short sleep duration ( = 10,073), snoring (22,419), insomnia (102,771), insomnia and snoring (62,909)] and favorable sleep pattern groups (37,654). The associations of unfavorable sleep patterns with 134 diseases were estimated using Cox regression models; and comorbidity network analyses were applied for disease module identification.

Retrospective evaluation of novel serum inflammatory biomarkers in first-episode psychiatric disorders: diagnostic potential and immune dysregulation.

Background: This study assessed the diagnostic capabilities of eight inflammatory biomarkers in first-episode schizophrenia (SCZ), bipolar disorder (BD), and depression (D), examining their differential expression across these psychiatric disorders. The markers studied include neutrophils/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), lymphocytes/high-density lipoprotein (HDL) ratio (LHR), monocytes/HDL ratio (MHR), neutrophils/HDL ratio (NHR), and platelets/HDL ratio (PHR).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational study involving 335 individuals with SCZ, 68 with BD, 202 with D, and 282 healthy controls (C) to evaluate hematologic parameters from untreated patients and controls.

Development and validation of a nomogram to predict depression in older adults with heart disease: a national survey in China.

Background: Comorbid depression, frequently observed in heart disease patients, has detrimental effects on mental health and may exacerbate cardiac conditions. The objective of this study was to create and validate a risk prediction nomogram specifically for comorbid depression in older adult patients suffering from heart disease.

Methods: The 2018 data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) was analyzed and 2,110 older adult patients with heart disease aged 60 and above were included in the study.

Third-Wave CBT Online Intervention for Older Adults Inspired by ACT Principles: An Evaluation of Feasibility and Preliminary Effectiveness in Adults Age 75 and Older.

Objectives: This study assessed the feasibility and efficacy of "Online Resilience," a three-lesson online intervention based on third-wave cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles, inspired by acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), designed for emotionally healthy adults aged 75 and older.

Methods: A randomized controlled study with 62 participants (mean age = 81) divided into Experimental and Control groups. Outcomes included resilience, well-being, mood, and sleep quality, measured pre-, post-, and at one-month follow-up.

Non-invasive neuromodulation treatment for depression in adolescents: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Synthesized evidence regarding the effectiveness of non-invasive neuromodulation treatment for adolescents remains scarce. This study aimed to perform the first meta-analysis of the impact of neuromodulation treatment on depressive symptoms in adolescents.

Methods: According to the PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive review covering databases in English and Chinese from their inception to November 30, 2023, was conducted.

Association between personality and cognitive bias in adults with and without depression.

Background: Cognitive bias plays a crucial role in the onset and persistence of depression. Research has established a link between personality traits and cognitive bias; however, most of them focused on the general population, overlooking individuals with depression. We aim to explore the relationship between personality and cognitive bias in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and compare the results with healthy controls (HCs) to identify potential patterns.

The development and validation of a tablet-based assessment battery of general cognitive ability.

Background: Traditional cognitive assessments, often reliant on paper-and-pencil tests and professional evaluators, suffer from subjectivity and limited result discrimination. This study introduces the Baguan Online Cognitive Assessment System (BOCAS), a tablet-based system that evaluates both general cognitive ability (GCA) and domain-specific functions across six domains: sensory-motor skills, processing speed, sustained attention, working memory, cognitive flexibility, and spatial ability.

Methods: BOCAS was validated with 151 healthy Chinese adults aged 18-40.
