Background: Joint effusion at 3 months after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a risk factor for ACL reinjury. However, factors associated with joint effusion at 3 months postoperatively and the effect of joint effusion on subsequent quadriceps muscle strength and graft remodeling remain unknown.
Purposes: To identify factors associated with joint effusion and investigate the association between joint effusion and quadriceps muscle strength and graft remodeling in the postoperative period.

Meniscal injuries are a common occurrence in sports-related activities, often leading to pain, reduced joint function, and impaired athletic performance. This study aimed to evaluate the role of ultrasound-guided intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (PRP)-rich fluid injection which was obtained through serial centrifugation in the treatment of meniscal injuries resulting from sports activities. A prospective study was conducted involving 54 cases with grade I, II, and III meniscal injuries, aged 18 and 43 years.

NEK2 (NIMA-related kinase 2) has recently gained attention for its potential role in osteoarthritis (OA) chondrocytes, however, its specific involvement remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of NEK2 in OA progression and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Primary mouse knee chondrocytes were stimulated with IL-1β to establish an in vitro OA model, followed by the knockdown of NEK2 or ATF2.

: After anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), a 6-month composite test is recommended during rehabilitation before the return to sport, and the influence of a meniscal tear is not known. The hypothesis was that the location and treatment of meniscus injuries could influence the results of the composite test. : A retrospective single-center study was carried out of prospectively collected data involving 504 patients who performed a composite test 6 months after ACLR.

A meniscus injury is a prevalent condition affecting the knee joint. The construction of a subjective prediction model for meniscus injury represents a potentially invaluable diagnostic tool for physicians. Nevertheless, given the variability of pathological manifestations among individual patients, machine learning-based models may produce errors when attempting to predict specific medical records.

Purpose: To assess the anatomical and functional outcomes in patients who underwent surgery for canalicular laceration and did not experience significant epiphora, and to compare these outcomes with contralateral uninjured eye.
Method: Dacryoscintigraphy, anterior segment optical coherence tomography (OCT), MUNK scores, and a satisfaction questionnaire were administered to 24 patients who had canalicular laceration repair without significant epiphora and had a minimum of 6 months of follow-up. Tear meniscus height (TMH), depth (TMD), and area (TMA) were measured using anterior segment OCT and compared with the values in the uninjured eye.

Introduction: Knee osteotomy combined with meniscal allograft transplantation (MAT) showed promising results to treat unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis (OA) secondary to meniscal deficiency and knee malalignment. However, there is still no high-level evidence to demonstrate whether the combination of these two treatments is superior to osteotomy alone.
Methods And Analysis: 52 patients with unicompartmental knee OA Kellgren-Lawrence grade ≤3 secondary to meniscal deficiency and knee malalignment (aged 20-60 years) are randomised to undergo knee osteotomy associated with MAT or knee osteotomy alone in a 1:1 ratio.

Introduction: The meniscus is an important cushioning structure of the knee joint, with the maintenance of its normal structure and function playing a crucial role in protecting the joint from early degeneration. Stem/progenitor cells could be the key to help researchers to have a deeper understanding of the biological process of meniscal injury repair and may be important in the meniscus tissue regeneration processes. To the best of our knowledge, there is currently a lack of comprehensive reviews on existing research about the meniscus progenitor cells (MPCs).

Purpose: Meniscal injuries in the knee are usually treated surgically with arthroscopic partial resection (APR) or arthroscopic repair (AR). APR has been shown to increase the risk of osteoarthritis and the focus has shifted to repairing the meniscus with AR. The extent of this shift is yet to be established and an analysis of incidence rates (IR) of APR and AR for meniscal injuries could highlight this.

Introduction: The menisci are a pair of fibrocartilaginous structures important for the normal biomechanical function of the knees. Tears are common, and multiple approaches have been used to repair meniscal tears. Of the approaches, the all-inside approach has historically been avoided for tears to the posterior aspect of the lateral meniscus (LM) due to the risk of popliteal and common peroneal neurovascular injury.

Introduction: Meniscal injuries often occur in association with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. Failure to detect meniscal tears in patients with ACL injuries can lead to more complex tears and make them more difficult to repair.
Objective: To determine the degree of correlation between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and knee arthroscopy in diagnosing meniscal injuries in patients with ACL tears.

Background: Discovering an inhibitor for acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4 (ACSL4), a protein that triggers cell injury via ferroptosis, presents potential to minimize cellular damage. This study investigates paeonol (PAE), a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, as an ACSL4 inhibitor to prevent chondrocyte ferroptosis and protect against osteoarthritis (OA).
Methods: We conducted experiments using mouse chondrocytes treated with PAE to mitigate ferroptosis induced by Interleukin-1 Beta (IL-1β) or ferric ammonium citrate (FAC), examining intracellular ferroptotic indicators, cartilage catabolic markers, and ferroptosis regulatory proteins.

The interface between soft and hard tissues is constituted by a gradient change of cell types and matrix compositions that are optimally designed for proper load transmission and injury protection. In the musculoskeletal system, the soft-hard tissue interfaces at tendon-bone, ligament-bone, and meniscus-bone have been extensively researched as regenerative targets. Similarly, extensive research efforts have been made to guide the regeneration of multi-tissue complexes in periodontium.

Three-dimensional printing (3DP) strategies in the field of meniscus and articular disc repair and regeneration have recently garnered significant attention. However, a comprehensive bibliometric assessment to evaluate the scientific progress in this area is lacking. This research aims to explore the development, key areas of focus, and new directions in 3DP techniques for meniscus and articular disc over the last 15 years, considering both structural and temporal perspectives.

HBP-A is the main active component of a traditional Chinese medicine Huaizhen Yanggan Capsule, for the remarkable treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). This study aimed to elucidate the ameliorative effect of HBP-A on meniscus hypertrophy and mineralisation in KOA and the molecular mechanism of its action. An Hartley guinea pig model of KOA that underwent anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) and a model of rat primary meniscus fibrochondrocytes (PMFs) were used to investigate the ameliorative effect of HBP-A on meniscal hypertrophy and calcification and its signal transduction mechanism of action.

Similar to other fields, there is growing evidence of disparities in pediatric sports medicine. For children and adolescents with knee injuries, disparities persist along the lines of sex, gender, race, ethnicity, insurance, socioeconomic status, and other determinants. These factors influence the evaluation, treatment, and outcomes for a variety of knee pathologies, including anterior cruciate ligament ruptures, meniscus tears, osteochondritis dissecans, cartilage injuries, and tibial spine fractures.
