Background And Purpose: Atypical meningiomas are prevalent intracranial tumors with varied prognoses and recurrence rates. The role of adjuvant radiotherapy (ART) in atypical meningiomas remains debated. This study aimed to develop and validate a prognostic model incorporating machine learning techniques and clinical factors to predict progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with atypical meningiomas and assess the impact of ART.

Background: Meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumor. Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR 2) is almost universally expressed in meningioma tissue. For patients who require adjuvant radiation, SSTR based (68)Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography (PET) imaging can detect additional or residual disease not discernible on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Objective: To devise a predictive model for estimating the requisite volume of the orbit in patients poised for resection of hyperostotic spheno-orbital meningiomas.
Material And Methods: The predictive regression model was conceived through the retrospective analysis of perioperative radiological data from 25 patients who initially underwent surgery at the Burdenko Neurosurgery Center for hyperostotic spheno-orbital meningiomas grade I. The model quality metrics were evaluated utilizing the performance library in the R programming language, including the Akaike Information Criterion, Bayesian Information Criterion, adjusted R-squared, Root Mean Squared Error, and Sigma.

Background: Territorial arterial spin labelling (t-ASL) could be an alternative method to digital subtraction angiography (DSA) when evaluating feeding arteries by previous reports, however, blood supply variations on meningioma prognosis remains unclear. In this study, the prognosis of meningiomas mainly supplied by the internal carotid artery (ICA) and external carotid artery (ECA) was compared, and relevant clinical factors were investigated.
Methods: t-ASL technique was employed to categorized pathologically-confirmed meningioma patients into the ICA, ECA, ICA co-supplied, and non-ICA co-supplied group.

Background: Early recognition of sinus invasion for meningiomas matters the clinical intervention. Therefore, we retrospectively investigated the relationship between peritumoral vessel features on magnetic resonance venography (MRV) and sinus invasion status.
Methods: Images of phase contrast MRV (PC-MRV, n=46) and contrast-enhanced MRV (CE-MRV, n=39) were independently assessed by four experienced neuroradiologists, including the adjacent sinus status, the peritumoral vessel count and diameter-associated parameters.

Objective: Brain tumors are abnormal growths of brain cells that are typically diagnosed via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which helps to discriminate between malignant and benign tumors. Using MRI image analysis, tumor sites have been identified and classified into four distinct tumor categories: meningioma, glioma, not tumor, and pituitary. If a brain tumor is not detected in its early stages, it could progress to a severe level or cause death.

Objective: Globally, skull base tumors are among the most challenging tumors to treat and are known for their significant morbidity and mortality. Hence, this study aimed to identify robust associated factors that contribute to mortality of patients following surgical resection for a variety of skull base tumors at the 3-month follow-up period. This in turn helps devise an evidence-based meticulous treatment strategy and baseline input for quality improvement work.

Spheno-orbital meningiomas (SOMs) are rare tumors that involve the sphenoid wing and orbit, leading to symptoms such as proptosis and vision loss. Their proximity to critical neurovascular structures complicates surgical resection, making management challenging. A systematic review of 22 paper series involving 1042 patients was conducted using PubMed and Scopus.

Background: Systematic reviews within the field of animal research are becoming more common. However, in animal translational research, issues related to methodological quality and quality of reporting continue to arise, potentially leading to underestimation or overestimation of the effects of interventions or prevent studies from being replicated. The various tools and checklists available to ensure good-quality studies and proper reporting include both unique and/or overlapping items and/or simply lack necessary elements or are too situational to certain conditions or diseases.

Background And Purpose: Preoperative embolization of anterior skull base meningiomas can facilitate surgical resection by reducing tumor vascularity. However, transophthalmic artery embolization carries risks of visual complications. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this technique using modern endovascular tools.

In preclinical models, ()-inactivated tumors display sensitivity to focal adhesion kinase (FAK) inhibition. The EAY131-U subprotocol evaluated the efficacy of defactinib, a FAK inhibitor, in patients with -altered tumors.

Case Summary: A 13-year-old castrated male American Shorthair cat was referred for evaluation following a 3-week history of poor balance and decreased activity. The MRI findings revealed a well-defined left caudal cerebellar mass with a diameter of 1.2 cm, consistent with a meningioma.

Proper skull base repair is essential in preventing postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak following endonasal endoscopic skull base surgery. Direct suturing of the skull base dura is desirable but difficult. Here, we discuss the effectiveness of endoscopic suturing of skull base dura in cases of skull base lesions with intraoperative CSF leak.

Introduction: Gliosarcomas (GSM) are rare intracranial tumors composed of both glial and mesenchymal components. Given the rarity of the condition, there is limited literature on their clinical, radiological, pathological features, and treatment modalities.
Methods: Histopathologically confirmed cases of gliosarcomas were retrospectively analyzed.

Purpose: Meningiomas are the most common primary brain tumour and account for over one-third of cases. Traditionally, estimations of morbidity and mortality following surgical resection have depended on subjective assessments of various factors, including tumour volume, location, WHO grade, extent of resection (Simpson grade) and pre-existing co-morbidities, an approach fraught with subjective variability. This systematic review and meta-analysis seeks to evaluate the efficacy with which machine learning (ML) algorithms predict post-operative outcomes in meningioma patients.

Rationale: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) originate from neuroendocrine cells and they are depicted with both nerve cells as well as hormone-producing cells. These tumors were initially discovered in extracranial locations and central nervous system involvement is often a result of metastasis. Herein, we present a very rare case of primary intracranial neuroendocrine tumor (PINET) that masqueraded as meningioma at the sphenoid ridge with metastasis to the spinal cord in a patient without a known history of extracranial NET at the time of diagnosis.

: To evaluate the outcomes of anterior skull base (ASB) reconstruction using single versus double vascularized flap techniques following multiportal cranio-endoscopic approaches (CEA), based on a 12-year experience. : A retrospective analysis was conducted on 46 patients who underwent ASB reconstruction after a CEA at our department between 2010 and 2022. Patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 received a pericranial flap (PF) reinforced with a fascia graft, while Group 2 underwent multiple flap reconstruction with PF, fascia graft, and nasoseptal flap (NSF).

The high recurrence rate of feline meningioma despite the generally benign histomorphology warrants additional markers of clinical aggressiveness. The Ki-67 index is commonly used as prognostic marker for meningioma recurrence in people. Osteopontin (OPN) is a protein involved in tumor progression and may be a potential malignancy marker.

Accurate determination of the gross target volume (GTV) is critical in radiation treatment planning, as errors could result in underdosing of the tumor or overdosing of nearby organs at risk. This multicenter retrospective observational serial measurement study evaluated the effects of variations in MRI slice thickness and a time delay between the diagnostic (MRI-1) and RT planning (MRI-2) MRIs GTV contouring in dogs with presumed meningiomas. The hypothesis was that the GTV would increase in size with time on T1-weighted sequences with contrast.
