The Association of Ringside Physicians (ARP) is committed to the concept of fair competition. It advocates for two equally skilled and matched athletes to keep bouts fair, competitive, entertaining, and, most importantly, safe for all combatants. Numerous studies have proven that transgender women may have a competitive athletic advantage against otherwise matched cis-gender women.

Background: Chronic lower-extremity defects may lead to major amputations and have severe consequences on patient quality of life and mortality. Dermal matrices have become part of the reconstructive ladder and are often deployed in these scenarios to quickly build neodermis, especially in volumetric defects over exposed bone and tendon initially, to allow for subsequent closure by means of split-thickness skin grafting (STSG) or secondary intention. Ovine forestomach matrix (OFM) is a decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) bioscaffold available in both sheet and particulate forms that can be used as a dermal matrix in various soft-tissue reconstruction procedures.

A Case of Lactobacillus casei Endocarditis Associated With Probiotic Intake in an Immunocompromised Patient.

Probiotics are microorganisms, typically bacteria, similar to beneficial microbiota found in the human gut, usually consumed as dietary supplements or fermented foods. Although probiotics are generally safe, several cases of bacteremia, sepsis, and endocarditis associated with probiotics have been reported. Here we report a rare case of endocarditis in a 71-year-old female, immunocompromised due to chronic steroid intake, who presented with a productive cough and low-grade fever.

Effects of the Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter Inhibitors on Cardiovascular Death and All-Cause Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Placebo-Controlled Clinical Trials.

Background: Patients with diabetes mellitus are at an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and all-cause mortality. Heart failure and type 2 diabetes often occur concomitantly, and each disease independently increases the risk for the other.

Objective: Emerging data have revealed that some sodium-glucose cotransporter inhibitors (SGLTi) improve cardiovascular and renal outcomes, particularly in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Radiation Therapy as a Bridging Strategy for CAR T Cell Therapy With Axicabtagene Ciloleucel in Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma.

Purpose: Axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) is a CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy for relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Bridging therapy may be required for lymphoma control during the manufacturing interval between collection of autologous T cells and final CAR T product administration. The optimal bridging therapy is not known and patients are often chemorefractory.

Bridging gaps in care: Implementation of a pharmacist-led transitions-of-care program.

Purpose: The development and implementation of a hospitalwide, pharmacist-led transitions-of-care (TOC) program are described.

Methods: This 21-week quality improvement initiative was conducted from October 1, 2015, to February 26, 2016, at Memorial Hospital Pembroke. A TOC team was comprised of pharmacists, a pharmacy resident, pharmacy students, a physician, case managers, and nurses.
