Volumetric Modulated Radiotherapy (VMAT) implementation requires additional Quality Assurance (QA) tests to assure stable machine performance especially in terms of dynamic parameters synchronization. The lack of a twin machine for TrueBeam led us to the investigation of backup workflow with Clinacs 2300C/D. These Clinacs were upgraded to make them VMAT-enabled.

Long-term follow-up in adults with extremity osteosarcoma: comparison of different surgical procedures - single-center experience.

Introduction: Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor in adults and is usually located in long bones. Standard treatment consists of perioperative chemotherapy and radical surgical resection. In the case of the extremity location, the gold standard is limb-sparing surgery (LSS) using a variety of reconstructive techniques.

Fully-automated deep learning-powered system for DCE-MRI analysis of brain tumors.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) plays an important role in diagnosis and grading of brain tumors. Although manual DCE biomarker extraction algorithms boost the diagnostic yield of DCE-MRI by providing quantitative information on tumor prognosis and prediction, they are time-consuming and prone to human errors. In this paper, we propose a fully-automated, end-to-end system for DCE-MRI analysis of brain tumors.

Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is one of the most common cranial neuropathies. Pathologies located alongside the long nerve can also cause its mechanical compression or secondary involvement in the inflammatory process, and thus cause pain. TN is characterised by severe paroxysmal unilateral facial pain in the innervation area of branches I-III of the nerve V when provoked by light touch or slight movement.

The aim of this project was to assess the prevalence of four selected SNPs rs4977574 and rs7857345 (CDKN2B-AS1 gene) and rs3798220 and rs10455872 polymorphisms (the LPA gene) in the subpopulation of patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid stenosis. This study included 623 individuals (244 patients with symptomatic carotid artery stenosis, 176 patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and 203 healthy people. All the participants underwent neurological examination, duplex Doppler ultrasound examination and molecular procedures.

In the case of lung cancer, one-dimensional or two-dimensional imaging is standard. The results of 394 consecutive cases of knee joint radiation synovectomy (radiosynoviorthesis) using Y.

Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the treatment results of Y radiation synovectomy for chronic exudative synovitis of knee joints.

Methods: The retrospective data consist of 394 consecutive knee radiation synovectomies performed using 6 mCi (222 MBq) of Y. The assessment included 3-point custom pain and joint mobility scale, evaluation of joint's circumference, binary joint's temperature evaluation, patellar ballottement test, indications for puncture and its volume in applicable cases.

The chronically inflamed mucosa in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) can additionally be infected by bacteria, which results in an acute exacerbation of the disease (AECRS). Currently, AECRS is universally treated with antibiotics following the guidelines for acute bacterial rhinosinusitis (ABRS), as our understanding of its microbiology is insufficient to establish specific treatment recommendations. Unfortunately, antibiotics frequently fail to control the symptoms of AECRS due to biofilm formation, disruption of the natural microbiota, and arising antibiotic resistance.
